COMBAT FORMS
Light Saber Form (Expert)Shien, also known as the Way of the Krayt Dragon, was created by Soresu masters who desired a more offensive style, since the defensive nature of Soresu often led to prolonged combat, which was dangerous for the practitioners. Shien evolved into an accepted style by combining the defensive maneuvers of Soresu with the more aggressive philosophy and tactics of Makashi. Shien required a higher level of physical strength than the other lightsaber forms, due to its focus on complete domination of its practitioners' opponents. It was considered the most physically demanding of all the forms.
The form was developed alongside Ataru at a time when the Jedi were increasingly called upon to actively keep the peace. Some Jedi, noting its dedication to domination and strength, felt that Shien encouraged an inappropriate focus on controlling one's assailants. Other Jedi, including the Jedi battlemaster Cin Drallig, were cautiously neutral regarding the form. Nevertheless, the Form's proponents maintained that Shien was an effective and powerful tool for the Jedi Order. Shien had two distinct variations: Shien and Djem So, and most users had a preference for one or the other.
The Shien opening stance was a high guard position, with the lightsaber hilt held in a two-handed grip above the user's head and the blade angled upward and behind the user. The dominant leg was held back, enabling powerful step-through strikes to be utilized. Another Shien position consisted of a horizontal attack stance that was used to perform long, sweeping strikes to take down several enemies at a time. Shien users were also proficient in a maneuver referred to as the "Barrier of Blades," which defended the user from blaster fire and redirected some of the incoming blasts. "Shien Deflection" was another technique familiar to users of that Shien variant, allowing practitioners to simultaneously deflect weapons fire and leap toward an opponent.
Some users used the reverse Shien grip, an unorthodox variation of the Form where the wielder would hold the Lightsaber blade in an almost backward position, exposing the front. Daegan prefers this stance as he feels it lends a sense of grace to a seemingly useless exertion of energy
Light Saber Form (Average)
Dun Möch was a form of combat that used distraction and doubt, usually through taunting, in conjunction with lightsaber battle. The Sith aimed to completely dominate an opponent's spirit through whatever means possible by employing their own lightsaber combat doctrine. Dun Möch commonly involved spoken taunts, jeers, and jests that exposed the opponent's hidden, inner weaknesses and/or doubts, which had the end result of eroding the opponent's will. Mental attacks would also be utilized during combat in order to strip one's concentration with the Force, making an opponent less precise and effective. Such a thing could be quite deadly, especially against Jedi, since concentration was of vital importance when using the Force. As such, Dun Möch embodied using the Force as a form of psychological warfare.
FORCE ABILITIES
Control- Force speed (average): a core Force power that allowed the user to maintain sprinting speeds for a brief time. Greater aptitude granted greater boosts to speed and/or greater duration. The increased speed of the Force-user enabled the individual to see the world and the entities around them in slow motion, allowing them to dodge attacks easily and attack quicker with greater accuracy.
- Buried Presence (expert): a power that was used by highly skilled Force-sensitive’s to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from other Force-sensitive’s
- Force Body (average): a type of Force technique which allowed any Force-sensitive to push their body's endurance past a safe limit, ignoring and possibly sacrificing their health and well-being, in order to sustain their connection to the Force.
- Farseeing (average): an ability to gain vague impressions of events happening in other places or times using the Force.
- Telepathy (expert): an ability to mentally communicate over small or vast distances with other individuals. (Due to innate racial abilities, he is particularly skilled in this, dominate mind, and drain knowledge)
- Force Choke (average): This was an attack via the Force that was used to crush a living being's throat, in effect choking them if used sparingly and killing them if used to the utmost.
- Force Jump/Leap (average): Also known as Force Leap, using the Force in this manner allowed one to augment their natural leaping ability. Force-users skilled in this technique could perform awe-inspiring vertical/horizontal leaps with impunity.
- Force Pull/Push (average): A telekinetic ability which used the Force to cause a material body to draw close or be thrust away from the user. The greater the user's aptitude with this, the heavier the object that could be pulled or the more wide arc or radius of the Force "wave".
- Dominate Mind (mastered): A spectrum of Force powers which influenced the thoughts of sentient creatures, most commonly used to coerce into agreement by suggestion through voice manipulation or to cause one to reveal information. (Due to innate racial abilities, he is particularly skilled in this, telepathy, and drain knowledge)
- Sith Alchemy (expert): A science that referred to a number of areas under the Sith. It encompassed any power or technique which used the Dark side of the Force to permanently alter an item or living being… (In Daegun’s case he has focused almost entirely on the biological aspect)
- Mechu-deru (average): A rare Force power that allowed the user to sense the complex structures of technology, and allowed for intuitive understanding of how complicated structures, including machinery and circuitry, fit together. The Dark side aspect of this ability focuses on the combination of man and machine in a true blending of flesh and metal.
- Drain Knowledge (average): Beyond simple reading of thoughts, the Drain Knowledge ability disrupted the Force to steal deep memories and information in a violent and merciless way. Such a process would sometimes damage the subject psychologically.
RACIAL ABILITIES & QUIRKS
Benefits- Essentially ageless
- High regeneration rate
- Highly attuned skills in telepathy even if not force sensitive/trained
- Addicted to what is commonly referred to as Soup, Luck, or the Sea of Memory but is in actuality the gelid, mucous medium for luck or life essence (essentially chemicals only found within brain matter), their method of feeding almost always kills without question. The older an Anzati, the more obsessed they become with feeding until their obsession ironically consumes them.
APPEARANCE
Usually clad in his scaled armor as depicted above, Daegan is by no means a physical weakling but could be considered lean or lithe in comparison to some of the behemoths treading the stars. Despite this or in lieu of it, do not let his form fool you; he is akin to a length of iron cord wrapped around steel, and despite his scholastic leanings, it seems that he does what one must to keep fighting trim.
While by no means vain or a peacock by social standards, he does maintain himself in such a manner that is ascetically pleasing to the eye of most races; first impressions are important, and a good one may just make it easier for him to get what he wants…
BIOGRAPHY
Exactly two centuries old, Daegan only started making his presence felt upon the world upon reaching the Anzati age of majority at one hundred years of age; a young creature that was consumed by his urges to indulge in the Sea of Memory or what others had deemed ‘the soup’.
For nearly fifteen years, Daegan would roam the known galaxy in search of his next meal when he ran afoul of what he had surmised to be a member of the new Jedi Order. Humbled by the experience but not altogether changed by it, he debased himself in front of the hale warrior Kai Hollbal while pleading to learn the man’s ways. Whether it was fate, luck, or blind naiveté, he was afforded the opportunity to become the man’s padawan on the condition that Daegan gave up his obsession/addiction with the life-force of others…
As time slowly crept by, the strength of Daegan’s promise slowly began to weaken and eventually shatter. So much so, that when he had been convinced that his master had taught him all he possibly could, that his first true meal in nearly twenty years was Master Hollbal as that worthy lay resting. Gathering what he could to finance himself, he took to self-study in a variety of different ways, none of which could have been described as moral or enlightened; he was determined to overcome his addiction to the Sea of Memory, not out of some drivel about the sanctity of life, but because it was a weakness that he could ill afford.
When delving into such dark wisdom, it was inevitable that he would attract the attention of either his fellow students or those who had the knowledge that was so desperately craved. In this case, all roads led to the Sith, and one Sith Lord in particular seemed to ensnare him like a fly in a web; Lady Kyros. After a failed attempt on his part to simply snatch the information from her mind as he had done with countless others, it resulted in a beating worthy of song and him eventually swearing his allegiance when he had shown his true mettle.
For the next several years he served her faithfully as she chipped away from his immaturity and youthful boisterousness even as he was essentially soaking up the wisdom that she had to offer on a variety of techniques and Sith philosophies. Trained in the oldest of the traditions and then sent to the darkest reaches of the galaxy to learn and improve on his own merits, he still considers himself her apprentice until she declares otherwise and an apprentice should never be too far from their master…
