Defensive Systems;
Shield Leechhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shield_leech_weapon, allows the ship to drain enemy shields within close range and convert it to their own. Unlike Mandalorian ships, the shield leech installed on this particular vessel can only be used within close range. Only works for up to ten seconds (one post) and takes time to recharge this ability (three posts).
[*]
Long Range Sensor Suite;
Multi-Directional Sensor Array, a long range sensor that is able to sweep in a 180 arc, and when installed on both the forward and the aft, combined are able to provide a full 360 long range sensor sweep.
Hyperwave Interception, Transceiver, like most ships the dagger is able to communicate via hyperwave frequencies, however; it may also intercept information coming across hyperwave as well.
Strengths:
Long Range Sensors: Equipped with long range sensors the Dagger may be able to better assists its fleet by pushing forward and gathering information.
Shield Leech Defenses: With a shield leech included on defenses this may assist the Dagger with the possibility of draining and converting enemy shield energy into its own.
Seismic Charge: A forward fixed seismic charge enables the Dagger to become a terrifying frontal assault vessel.
High Speed: With a high speed and moderate turning capabilities, the Dagger is able to turn and shoot forward more often than is typical of the class and type.
Sympathetic Detonation: Munitions within the Dagger while housed within a munition control system may still be vulnerable to sympathetic detonation the longer the battle wears on the more kinetic hits the vessel takes.
Low Defenses: While equipped with ion and deflector shields, these are still subject to battle and may become overwhelmed. She is not impervious to ion or emp attacks, repeated hits will wear down her shields. Additionally, she has very few weapons that can specifically target small attack craft and missiles.
No Hangar: She has no fighters or bombers of her own to name, she houses only unarmed runabouts for quick rendezvous or away missions. Given the design and role of the Dagger IV, she is ill-equipped to fend off smaller attack craft and if caught out of position or on her own becomes vulnerable to aforementioned attack craft.
Firing Arc: While equipped with ion cannons and turbolasers she’s meant for forward attacks on larger ships, meaning attack craft smaller than fourteen meters may be able to bob and weave in and around her firing arcs getting into her blind spots.
Blind Spots: Similiarly while she's got the guns and speed, her rather low defenses combined with weak points in her firing arc leave her vulnerable to blind spots where missiles are able to get through with ease.
Recharge and Range: Shield leech can only be used within short/close combat range and requires a significant recharge time.
With the steady release of the Mark III Programme, the Dagger III quickly found itself out of place and out of a role. Refusing to give her up so easily, Fiolette went back and reexamined the Victorian Imperial assets and found that on the whole. They lacked front line assault ships, with this in mind the Dagger underwent a refit. She now would fire plasma cannons, her speed adjusted and for the first time within the Victorian Imperial fleet, a seismic charge would be used. Lastly she would be given rapid fire turbolasers to help her on her runs, the Dagger’s new job was to run in and punch a whole into the enemy lines.
Mandalorian shield leeching technology had been incorporated as a way to help the Dagger regain shield health as she moved through the battlefield. Reinforced hull and a standard deflector shield leaves much to be desired on her defenses. Forcing the Dagger IV to rely on her speed and maneuverability more than ever. She is vulnerable to ion and emp weapons, as well as a possible sympathetic detonation even with systems in place to ensure that that doesn’t happen.
Note: This cannot be used to force a writer into a shield drain.
