- Structure Name: Dagobah Jedi Temple
- Classification: Jedi Temple
- Location: Dagobah
- Affiliation: Rimward Jedi Coalition
- Accessibility: The Jedi Temple is situated high above the ground, amidst a grove of gnarltrees deep in the wetlands of Dagobah. Reaching the temple on foot is a very difficult endeavor on account of Dagobah's vast marshlands, disorienting terrain, and dangerous flora and fauna. The most direct way to reach the temple is by landing a shuttle or other small spacecraft on the Landing Pad. A hidden entrance among the warped roots of the gnarltrees also exists, though knowledge of its location is privy only to the Jedi.
- Description: The Dagobah Jedi Temple is comprised of a series of chambers, platforms, and suspended buildings situated among a grove of gnarltrees. Each level of the temple complex features dedicated facilities and amenities, all of which are interconnected by a network of bridges, gangways, and lifts. The temple’s architecture and design takes a naturalistic approach to modern construction, relying on the organic curves and bends of the trees to dictate the organization of temple structures.
Main Temple
- Council Chambers: Located at the rear of the Main Hall, directly across from the temple entrance, is the Council Chambers, a place for the Coalition Council to meet and discuss matters of the Order. It is situated atop a wide spiral staircase, with large windows looking down into the main hall below on one side and out over the marsh on the other. From here, the Jedi convene with their allies to address the Coalition's concerns, interests, and direction. A curation of data from the temple’s Archives can be accessed via the situation table in the heart of the chambers. An interactive hologram of the Outer Rim Territories is also available, as well as a larger map of the known Galaxy. The Chambers also features a network of holoprojectors dedicated to each of the Coalition’s sister enclaves. Through this network, each enclave is connected directly to the Dagobah Temple should the need arise for immediate communication with the Council.
- Masters' Retreat: Just off the Council Chambers is the Masters' Retreat, a small section of private bedchambers reserved for Jedi Knights and Masters of the Order. In addition to sleeping quarters and a locker room, the Retreat also features a small library and meeting chamber for less official matters.
-
- Reflection Pool: Located on the east side of the Main Hall is the Reflection Pool, a large chamber featuring a serene pool of shallow water so placid one can see their own reflection on its surface. This room is dedicated to mindfulness and relaxation. Often, the Reflection Pool is visited by Jedi seeking to receive a premonition or vision, to meditate, or to receive guidance from one another and the Living Force. The floor here is recessed, creating a shallow pool about ankle deep and roughly three meters in circumference. Surrounding the circular pool is a ring of natural stone, smooth and warm to the surface should a Jedi wish to sit and embrace the calming ambience. The wall opposite the entrance is adorned with a handcrafted bronzium mandala featuring the Jedi crest, a gift to the Order from the Hepsalum Tash.
-
- Halls of Healing: On the west side of the Main Hall, down a short flight of stairs, is the Halls of Healing. This wing of the temple is dedicated to the Jedi healers and medical staff who attend the injured and wounded. In addition to amenities such as a waiting area and meditation chamber, the Halls feature modern medical equipment such as Bacta tanks and medi-droids. It is a peaceful space where natural springs, rainfall, and foliage bring about a sense of rest and rejuvenation.
-
- Lifts: A pair of elevator lifts can be found on both sides of the Main Hall, connecting it to the Upper and Lower Wards, as well as the Ramparts.
- Jedi Archives: Akin more to a vault than a library, the Dagobah Jedi Archives is a trove of data and information compiled by the various Force Sects of the Outer Rim. While its contents vary largely and encompass hundreds of topics, its primary focus is the history of the Outer Rim Territories and the planets under the protection of the Coalition. The Archives are separated into multiple floors, each with its own unique collection of information. The first floor, known as the Lyceum, is available to all Jedi and their allies. It contains a wealth of useful information, such as planetary data, regional and sectorial history, cultural traditions, Force techniques, and so on. The second level of the Archives houses a repository of restricted materials, including after-action reports, records of enemy engagements, and mappings of various Jedi temples. The topmost level of the Archives is the Vault. Within it, the Coalition's Jedi holocrons are safeguarded, as well as a collection of various Jedi artifacts and Force-imbued objects.
-
- Living Quarters: This section of the temple is reserved for Jedi Younglings, Initiates, and Padawans. It features several dormitory rooms furnished with beds, desks, and personal lockers for the Coalition's Padawan Learners.
-
- Temple Gardens: A favorite spot for Padawans, Knights, and Masters alike, the Temple Gardens is a peaceful area among the Upper Wards that serves many purposes. Aside from housing the temple’s plants and botanicals, the Gardens are a frequent spot for classes, training sessions, meditation, and off-duty relaxation.
-
- Tash's Rest: Named for the peace-loving sentients who helped construct the Dagobah Temple, Tash's Rest is a sitting area at the highest point of the temple proper. It has an amazing view of the wetlands, often serving as a place of rest and mindfulness for the Jedi.
-
- Training Hall: The largest area of the Lower Wards is the Training Hall, a spacious chamber that serves as the temple’s dojo. Here, the Jedi attend classes, study lightsaber forms, and learn the art of dueling by sparring with one another. The Training Hall is large enough to accommodate a sizable crowd, and thus can double as a meeting place for large audiences.
-
- Jedi Armory: When a Jedi prepares to construct a lightsaber, modify an existing one, or simply peruse the collection of components, they visit the Jedi Armory. Inside, one can find a workshop dedicated to lightsaber construction, featuring a fully functional lightsaber forge and a well-stocked storage room. A second chamber situated off the main workshop houses a collection of weaponry, ranging from training staves and sabers to vibroblades, blasters, and other munitions.
- Cantina: Situated between the Training Hall and Armory, the Cantina is a large section of the Lower Wards where Jedi and other temple inhabitants can unwind, enjoy a meal, and spend time together. The Cantina includes several long dining tables in the center of the chamber, a well-stocked kitchen and larder, and a small balcony with a view of the marshlands below.
- Barracks: The Barracks is the primary living quarters for the Jedi Temple Guards and the Coalition's allies when stationed at the temple. This area contains several bedchambers with bunks, personal lockers, and a small cantina for off-duty activities. To aid in security measures, the Barracks is directly connected to the Landing Pad in the event a lockdown is necessary to protect the rest of the temple.
- Landing Pad: The primary point of entry for visitors to the temple. The Landing Pad is located just off the Main Hall, on the northeastern side. It is large enough to accommodate shuttles, personal spacecraft, and small freighters. A security checkpoint before entering the Main Hall prevents unwanted visitors from entering the temple, and is manned by Jedi Temple Guards
SECURITY: Medium
- Natural Defenses: Thanks to Dagobah's treacherous biosphere and difficult terrain, the Jedi Temple is quite difficult to reach for those without knowledge of its location or layout.
- Temple Guards: Should the Temple be discovered, invaders will find themselves pitted against a regiment of dedicated Jedi Temple Guards sworn to protect the temple and its inhabitants.
- DRAPAC: Operated by the Rimward Trade League's Defense Force, the Defense Research and Planetary Assistance Center (DRAPAC) is a formidable facility capable of monitoring activity across the Dagobah system; Should a massive invasion force threaten the planet, DRAPAC can alert the Temple and assist with a mass evacuation of Jedi.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Situated in the heart of the wetlands, the Dagobah Jedi Temple is an impressive structure comprised of multiple levels built within and throughout a grove of ancient gnarltrees. The platforms and gangways that connect the temple's various levels were constructed with the help of the Hepsalum Tash, a sentient species of worm-like forest giants native to the swamps of Dagobah known for their incredible size and unmatched craftsmanship. With their help, the Coalition was able to construct a sprawling temple complex that now serves as the central hub of their operations.
In addition to its remote location amidst the sparsely populated Sluis sector, Dagobah’s natural attunement to the Force is one of the most powerful in the galaxy, making it the perfect candidate for the Jedi Coalition’s primary temple.
