Dancing with Swords (Basaba)

Elanim was tired. She'd been dancing at an all-day club on Corellia, only taking breaks to eat or to drink. She dragged herself down the street, heading to her apartment. The sky was darkening as she came into view of her apartment. Just before she could reach it, however, someone grabbed her. They were hooded, so she couldn't see their face. She managed a short, frenzied scream before her mouth was covered. "Just stay quiet, and I won't kill you," The person said to her, and began to drag her toward an abandoned building. Elanim swallowed her panic and began to think. If she went for her blaster, they would take it from her. But, if she ran, she'd have a better chance of getting away. As she was dragged further down the street, Elanim readied her body. Suddenly, she elbowed the person hard in the gut. She pried out of his grasp with finess only a dancer could possess, and ran like the devil was chasing her. She could hear the person in hot pursuit. When she felt she was an appropriate distance away, she pulled out her blaster. She turned on her heel and pointed it at them.

Basaba had come to Corellia for some reason but she wasn't sure, it wasn't often she came about on populated planets since in full armor she looked like a brute. The shoulder mounted cannons were up and armed when she heard the sound and the visor of her armor flared as she moved giving chase after the man. The woman he was chasing went down the alley as she was off and the metallic shlink of the wrist blades coming out from her gauntlet were the only sound needed as they went into his back on either side of the spine. Then Basaba lifted and the disruptors locked on firing into the soft flesh. With a look as he became ash in a moment her helmet gave a "T" visor lens flare and the major in the protectorate spoke. "Are you okay?"

Elanim stood speechless as the man turned to ashes in front of her. She was still filled with adrenaline and fear that she had been nearly abducted. Her blaster was still up, though her hands were trembling. She closed her eyes until her breathing slowed, and put her blaster away. An armored woman had just saved her, and asked her if she was alright. "Yes.... Surprisingly, yes I am," She replied, her voice a higher pitch from her shock.

Basaba brought her hand back as the blades retracted into the wrist gauntlet and shined just above her fist. With a look and her eyes under the helmet glaring more from concern. (she doesn't actually smile) she moved forward a little and to the side. "Come on then you shouldn't have been going alone in the dark. The places aren't safe with forces engaged elsewhere." Her hands remained at their sides while she tilted her head quickly towards the entrance to the alley. "Lets go then."

Elanim nodded. She followed the woman down the street. "Thank you.... For saving me, I mean. Normally, I'm good with a blaster. I just don't know what came ovr me back there..." She shuddered, remembering the ashes of the man as they fell to her feet.

What came over her? Basaba turned her head to look her over while stopping for a moment. "You were too close, a blaster is okay at that range but you can easily get it knocked out of your hands. You need to invest in a blade. Here in protectorate space there are more then enough places you could go to and pick one up cheap. My sisters shop is here and the bladesister in the Omega forces arm the citizens." Her face remained under the helmet as a glare came to the street and kept walking.

Elanim thought for a moment. "A blade? I'm not sure that I'd know how to use it. I'm just a dancer, not a warrior..." Maybe a blade wouldn't be so hard to use. She'd just have to put some time and effort into learning how. And who knows? She might be good at it.

A smirk was on her face now as they walked and the idea of a dancer was funny. She knew how to dance it was with swords and in a battle circle. Those movements could make it easier as her words came out. "That just means you wouldn't get hit as easily and with the right blade you can dance in and out of a fight, slashing and defending. Might make you better then most."

Elanim considered this. She had always considered dancing to be nothing more than entertainment. But now that she thought about it, it would be a good way to fight if she had the right weapons. "You really think so?" She asked honestly.

Basaba gave a nod at that and smiled. She took her over while looking her over, the woman wasn't to bad and she was fit. Which was a good thing and she slid one of the blades out while holding it and the flat blade was designed with the CO2 ejector to inflate and pop those she stabbed while giving a nod. "Yes you do look fit enough but there is more you should do, if you want it the protectorate loans our my sisters and me for self defense."

Elanim studied the blade. Explodes its victims? She shuddered at the thought. But then again, she shuddered even tmore at the thought of being in the same situation twice, except with no one there to save her. This "blade-dancing" thing may be the sole difference between life and death for Elanim. She couldn't just pass it up. "Could you......Um, well....... Teach me?" She asked.

Basaba had a grin on her face at that, it wasn't often she was asked to teach a civilian how to fight. At least not with a sword, that was something she was going to cherish for the time being as her hand came out. "Alright we'll start tomorrow, get home and rested. Then meet me at the Pyre barracks, we'll go from there."
