Dancing with the Force (Carn)

"The duty of a Jedi is to protect those who cannot protect themselves and to maintain peace in the galaxy, but the most important is to follow the will of the Force." - Jedi Master Antone Soros

~Mediation Gardens, Jedi Temple~

As Cambria exhaled, the exotic beauty shifted her weight from one foot to the other as she gracefully moved throughout a simple three step exercise. Each footfall over the grassy meadow was accentuated with a breath. The motions remained slow as the Rutian Twi'lek turned and swept her right arm across her ample bosom.

Breathe in.

Thick dark lashes brushed over lightly blushed blue-hued skin as gold-speckled hazel orbs fell behind closed lids. The Jedi Knight did not need her vision to perform a kata familiar since she was all but a youngling.

Breathe out.

Tight muscles loosened as she breezed through the first level kata. The terrors of the attack, the ache still left in her heart for those lost, especially the children of the slaves, drifted away as she easily stepped into the second level kata with the grace that could only have come from a lifetime of practice. The simple, controlled moves stretched muscles and prepared her for the more complex actions of her morning ritual as thoughts shifted from her past twenty-four years to the present, and to the possibilities of her future.

In time with her gentle motions, another breath filled her lungs. The crest and fall of her chest shimmered with a thin sheen of moisture under the morning sun. Soft planes of toned muscles shifted under velvety skin as bare feet danced over plushy moss below while twin brain tails swayed in a synchronized duet above.

Falling into the ingrained motions of the ancient kata, her mind slipped free of the restraints of blood and bone. Weary thoughts reached out, mingling with the awesome presence of the living Force. The energies flowed around her like the oceans of Minaar, wrapping her in gentle, floating comfort.

The ethereal power source was all encompassing, enveloping a battered spirit and filling the chips in her mental armor, centering her once again in the Force.

Breathe in… Breathe out.

Meditation. A simple act of clearing the mind and cleansing the soul, yet an act he had not managed to find time for as of recent. It almost seemed plausible that the Galaxy had conspired against him to deny him this simple ritual. Yet he could not be denied forever - After all, he was a Jedi Master, and only the Force itself could change his ways.

So he set out to the meditation gardens, almost in a manner not dissimilar to that of a youngling heading to their very first lecture in Shii-Cho. The feeling was liberating. Indeed the very act of heading towards that tranquil place put his mind at ease, so much so that the vast distance between his study and the gardens seemed to pass in mere moments.

As he stepped through the entrance to the gardens, he noticed how empty they were. This was of no surprise to him, for many Jedi preferred the calm solitude of the more private booths. He could hardly blame them, for life in the temple was busy at best, and nigh on chaotic at worst. In such a hive of activity, there was something to be said for a quiet location, away from the noise of the Galaxy.

Yet despite that, it seemed that one particular Jedi was not shy of meditating in public. A strange form moving meditation, that her species was often fond of... Indeed, for a moment the Jedi found himself almost mesmerised by the rhythmical swaying of the Twi'lek's hips. However, he was a Jedi, and the third pillar was self discipline. The Padawans might gawk and stare at such a sight, and perhaps if he were a younger man he might have allowed his gaze to linger for longer, yet he was neither Padawan nor young. He was a Master, and thus needed to set an example.

However this Twi'lek had caught his eye, and not just in the meditation gardens. It had always interested Carn to learn which Jedi were most interested in the ways of the lightsaber, for it was often those Jedi that bore the brunt of the attacks on the Order. He had come to understand that this particular Twi'lek might just be one of those Jedi. It seemed the Force had drawn him here for a reason...

Yet it was rude to interrupt another in meditation without good reason, and so he remained still. His eyes closed so that while he waited for her he could collect his thoughts, and his arms folded into the classic diplomatic stance of the Jedi, so that he would appear to be in a more serious contemplation and thus avoid unnecessary interruptions.

As the Force washed over her like a great wave, then returned out to the sea Cambria was cleansed of the burdens that had weakened her strength of heart. When the blue-skinned Knight opened her golden hazel eyes, the young Twi'lek found she was not alone in this particular part of the meditation gardens; joined by another older and much wiser than herself, a great Jedi Master by the strength of his all encompassing aura. Though she did not know him by sight, perhaps by name if she should hear it.

Having finished her meditation katas for the day, Cambria moved quietly to redress; bare feet booted once again, then a brown hooded cloak slipped on over her modified Jedi attire. She wondered if there was a particular reason why this Master was here or was it just coincidence. Though with the Force, there usually wasn't any mere coincidence.

The Twi'lek Guardian remained silent and respectful of her elder, assuming a similar stature after taking a few steps closer to where he stood. It would be rude to interrupt him in his meditative state, so Cam waited as the older man was blocking her exit from the area. That was okay as it wouldn't hurt her to try a little stationary mediation from time to time. Every bit helped during these troubling times as the growing darkness in the galaxy threatened to engulf them all like a cancer. And, perhaps the Jedi Master had something to say that would peak her interest or enlighten the Knight as one never stopped learning about the Force.
