ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Different Flight Modes - while this ships does not utilize “S” foils like many fighters in the modern galaxy, it does support two different flight modes, and distributes power accordingly:
- Combat mode - In combat mode, the weapons are powered-up, activated, and extended. The gimballed engines unlock to move freely to give the ship greater maneuverability by means of “dual-plane” thrust-vectoring.
- Cruise Mode - in this mode, the weapons are powered down, and retracted. The missiles are deactivated because it is simply unsafe to fire them when the ship is travelling at extreme speeds, and the lasers are deactivated for energy conservation. Power is then re-routed to the engines, which lock in place to withstand the higher thrust output.
- Intricate Fire Control Grid- this starfighter integrates some of the most advanced fire control systems in the modern galaxy
- L.01x Precisiont Targeting Lazer - increases the effective accuracy of the weapons at short, medium and long ranges.
- L.TCA2.1 Targeting Computer - further improves accuracy while granting the pilot the ability to choose between manual or automated targeting.
- T.E.C.M.I.S - ties the ECM, sensor suites, and fire control systems all together to out-smart enemy ECM and evasive methods.
- Angel Navis Operating System - if the pilot is a member of the Navis Sacra Religion, and has a Holy Communion Neural Implant, then this ship will have the Angel Navis Operating System installed, and will be bonded to the pilot using a neural interface.
- Flight Crew Gear Locker - Tucked in behind the pilot’s seat (or rearmost seat in the two-seater variant) is an emergency gear locker for the flight crew:
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES
Strengths _____________________________________ | Weaknesses _____________________________________ |
---|
- “Leave ‘em in the dust” - this fighter design sports a cruise mode that draws power from the weapons and reroutes it into the engines for incredible speed.
|
- Run, or Gun. Not both - when this ship enters cruise mode, the weapons are disabled and maneuverability is reduced
|
- Dog-Fighting Dominance - when this fighter is in combat mode, it is designed to outgun and out-turn enemy Starfighters in a typical dogfight.
- ”Karking Aimbot Bull-chit!” - the lasers on this fighter are designed to use the T.E.C.M.I.S programming, which is intended to out-smart enemy ECM and evasive defensive methods. This is bolstered by a highly advanced Targeting Computer and Targeting Lazer, which direct the gimbal weapons’ mounts under the wings, which hold the lasers.
- Cluster-Missile Barrage - this fighter has two cluster missile launchers that allows it to attack 14 individual targets at once with light rockets in a single salvo.
|
- Capital ships - the weapons load out on these ships is not ideal for attacking spacecraft that are larger than a heavy transport and are nearly useless against anything bigger than a corvette.
- Targeting Laser overheat - the Targeting Laser on this ship tends to overheat and lose accuracy with heavy, prolonged sustained fire from the lazers. Without prolonged, sustained fire, it is incredibly difficult for these fighters to strip the shields and armour of much larger vessels.
- Cluster Missile total impact - while cluster missiles are ideal for overwhelming multiple enemy fighters at once, they are very weak against larger spacecraft that sport heavier shields and armour.
|
- Control-Area Supremacy - the mission profile that this ship is best suited for is one where it quickly races to a location or target, and then defends it from enemy fightercraft.
|
- “Not-So-Hot” Pursuit Vehicle - being slower in combat mode and unarmed in cruise mode, this fighter is not ideal for “hunting” or “pursuit-chase” missions where speed and firepower are needed at the same time.

DESCRIPTION
Viken Dobson’s mind has always been a wonder to the engineering team at Dar’Manda Industries, but this vessel is one design that he has wanted to do for a very long time. He held on to it for many years, working on it in secret on his own time as to keep other “cooks” from messing with his concept. Eventually, he reached the end of his capacity to puzzle this together on his own and he finally brought the blueprints to his team to fill in the gaps.
This vessel is designed to take a massive amount of heavy hardware, and make it dance with grace and agility. It uses very powerful gimbal mounted ion thrusters for greater maneuverability. It can lock these engines in place and divert power from the weapons to the engines for increased thrust output by entering cruise mode. Also, its weapons systems use a multi-layered fire control grid that is “top shelf” and state of the art on the market, making it ideal for achieving control-area dominance against other starfighters. Lastly, it is designed with considerations for the Navis Sacra Religion in mind. For these reasons, it is the primary fighter of the Nomadic Peoples Coalition.
The gimbal mounted thrusters are a unique innovation in this design. The engines themselves are very powerful, and the articulation of the gimbal mounts allows them to perform extreme thrust-vectoring. They can each point at slightly different angles from each other to create opposing thrust vectors, which results in various axis rotations in flight. This is especially useful, since the ship is very heavy for it’s size and the extra maneuverability is essential for dog-fighting. Despite its heavy mass, this fighter is capable of turning with most modern fighter-craft that are out there to date.
In
cruise mode, the engines lock in place so that they are pointing straight aft. The weapons systems are then shut down and retracted so that the power can be rerouted to the engines for extra speed. This feature is handy, because it allows the pilot to reach an objective extremely quickly in situations where hyper jumping isn’t an option. It is unfortunate, however, that the maneuverability is reduced, and the weapons are disabled in this mode, because it makes this ship more vulnerable at this time.
When it comes to
combat mode, this fighter is very dominant in a dogfight. This is largely attributed to its highly sophisticated fire control systems. LIKON Ltd. was contracted to provide advanced fire control hardware and weapons systems that bolstered the effectiveness of the lasers’ accuracy. This is further augmented by the highly innovative
T.E.C.M.I.S software, which generates predictive algorithms to counter evasion methods and tasks ECM suites to counter the enemy’s own ECM technology
(read the T.E.C.M.I.S data sheet for more details). The lasers are also installed on gimbal mounts, which allow for 10° windage and elevation adjustments by the fire control grid. On top of all that, cluster missiles are used to attack multiple targets at once, which is highly advantageous in a proverbial “fur ball”. In summary of this weapons configuration, it is not very difficult for this fighter to displace enemy fighters as it claims its territory. This, however, is at the cost of its anti-capital ship armament, which is almost nonexistent in this design.
This fighter was also designed to take the
Navis Sacra Religion and their sensibilities into consideration. It is for this reason that the ship is referred to as an “Archangel” rather than a “Starfighter”. It is also built to seamlessly incorporate the
Angel Navis Operating System so that the ship can commune with its pilot if the pilot is a practitioner of the religion. If this feature is active, the pilot must have the
Holy Communion Neural Implant in order to be able to complete the bond.
(For more details, see the following data sheets. (X) (X) (X) ).
As a whole, the “Danger Zone” Class Archangel is the perfect main fighter for the Nomadic Peoples Coalition. It is versatile with two different flight modes, it has state of the art fire control, and it accommodates the sensibilities of the Navis Sacra Religion. It is a quality design that deserves it’s place as a symbol of the people of Damascus Station.
