Dangerous Talk for Dangerous Times

Mia's fingers drummed on her helmet as it rested on the table beside her. She was apprehensive, what she was about to do would change the course of her life. Whether for better or worse, she had yet to find out. While she could just walk up to Alleria and challenge her she had no guarantee that her brothers would support her rise if she won. Much like she had not supported Alleria. She wanted to know that they were behind her, and also that they agreed with her.

With rumours of a sith invasion, now was not the time to challenge the Manda'lor. The troops needed to be united, the last thing she wanted was to make it easy for the sith. No, the time for this challenge was after the invasion. Assuming it was going to happen of course. And if it did, the outcome of the battle could weigh heavily against her or for her.

So many variables, so many things that could go right or wrong. She closed her eyes and drew in a deep breath inhaling the smell of the forest around her home. Dressed in loose pants and a fitted top, Mia had chosen to be without armour for this. Let them see beyond the armour, let them see me for what I am. Embreli had his anonymity, Alleria had the force, but what did Mia have?

She got up from the chair on the rear porch and moved down towards the stream at the bottom of the small path of land, clasping her hands behind her back she watched the water and waited for people to arrive.

Alliera walked in, holding a Mandalorian in the air with the force, not harming him. "A little pyjack told me you wanted me out of office." Alliera said, leaning back against the wall "And that you were slowly gathering support in the shadows." Alliera dropped the Mandalorian, and focused all her attention on Mia, looking at her through her visor. "I'm no coward, but I am no fool." Alliera said, putting her hands behind her back "IF you want to challenge me, then Challenge me, I'm right here...we can have an honorable duel right here."

Verz had entered the forest home because his vod, Mia, had asked him to talk with her. He expected to see Mia and maybe a few others. But what he did not expect to see was Alliera there. Sure, the Oyu'baat was open for all, but he assumed that she would be busy preparing to defend against Sith invasion, if one was coming. Varp, he was supposed to be busy preparing as well. His promotion came with a lot of new responsibility. He had expected a quick talk or a drink between friends.

Mia turned to face Alliera, her eyes flicking to the Mando she was holding with the force. This was precisely why Mia hated force users. They seemed to think that their power gave them the right to treat everyone else like they had no rights. "Let him go Alliera. This is not helping you."

She nodded to Verz by way of greeting before turning her attention back to Alliera. "Challenge you? Now? When the sith are watching this planet with hungry eyes? I'm not a fool Alliera, the time to challenge you isn't now. I called this meet so I could explain to my brothers why I am going to challenge you and to hear their doubts. This isn't a coup, I would not attempt to overthrow you in such a way."

She took a few unthreatening steps towards Alliera "Unlike you, I'm taking the time to make sure I know where my brother's hearts lie. What have you done since your claim to power to secure you position and earn respect? Nothing as far as I am concerned. I fought alongside these men for the Rebuilder, for the Bear and for you. They rescued me from the clutches of the sith. I owe it to them to tell them my plans and to hear them out."

Verz undid his boots, as is the custom, and set them by the door. Alliera, he noticed, had disregarded that tradition. As well as attack a fellow Mando'ad. Verz saw Mia nod, and returned one of his own after removing his helmet.

"Mandalore, now is no time to be weak. Mia is correct. The Sith are slipping away from the Empress's control. War is inevitable. All you've done for us as our leader is threaten the Republic, our biggest ally, and watch as we have thrown good men and women into the grinder to expand Mandalorian territory. You have only watched, not led. I must speak my mind, and my mind says you are not acting like a true leader."

Mia Monroe. She had fought with the her many times before. Mostly because she had yet to prove herself in the past battles with the Sith or during battles over territory. Most of the others like Rach, who was barley a Mandalorian in his sorry state, and Verz had good relationships with each other. They stood out above the rest, they had fought with both the Reclaimer and the Bear, side by side. She held deep respect for all of them. Yes, even the Mirsh'kyramud Rach. But today was something of a mystery. It was no mystery that the people of Mandalore had mixed feelings about a dar'jetii roaming among the people. This caused an even bigger stir when the Mandalore was found to be one as well. With Deathwatch active again and the Sith knocking on their doorstep it was difficult to see the difference between Sith rule and rule by Alliera for some. Tensions were high and there was talk of Civil War in the cantinas. She hoped that it didn't come to that.

But now, Mia Monroe, a legend among the warriors for escaping the Sith, Daxton, had called her brotehrs and sisters in arms to her humble home deep in the forests that surrounded Keldabe. For Ashara it was a hop skip away from her own home which was in the forest. It was a calming place. She was reminded of this as a breeze blew over her bare, red skin. She had come to this meeting without her armor. Instead she had come simply in clothes. After all, it was supposed to to be a peaceful talk. However that changed when a surprised cry erupted over the low murmurs of the others. A man was lifted into the air by none other than Alliera. This brought a wave of angered murmurs throughout the gathered. Ashara herself found her reaching for her beskade, her toes digging deep into the earth.

Her stomach growled. She could really go for some fruit.

"Udesii" Mia said softly catching Ashara moving for her beskade and hearing the ripple of anger through people as they watched the scene unfold.

"Alliera," she said softly "Stand down. This is not a day to fight, this is a day to talk." Mia was unarmed. Her weapons were in her home and she at the time, had felt no need for them, now, however, her hands itched for the weight of a weapons, just in case.

[Udesii - take it easy]

"I'm not here to fight." Alliera said, still looking at cold and aggressive as ever "THe Mandalore position is yours, I cannot watch the Mandalorians go down this path anymore." Alliera pulled Ashara's Beskad too her with the force, "See, your men go for their weapons whene I did not yet go for mine." Alliera said, planting said beskad in the ground "I will leave peacefully, but If I see any of you again after this betrayal, you will die." With that Alliera left, betrayal still stinging her heart, as she dropped the Pale Blade on the ground and the mandalorians from her heart.

Verz watched as Mia tried to keep everyone calm. It seemed to work, but then Alliera said something that surprised him. She was dropping the title of Mandalore? She was the first to claim it,and when the Sith start to encroach, she quits like it is a game! Verz did not dare say it aloud, but he knew this to be the mark of a huutun.

After Alliera left, there was silence in the vheh'yiam. After a few moments, Verz walked up to Mia, then knelt, like a knight in mideval times would before a ruler. He looked up at her. "Hail, Mia Monroe, the new Mand'alor!"
