DARA ARVYD

BACKGROUND

Born in the underbelly of Kuat to Kandaran immigrant parents, Dara grew up relatively well despite living in the slums.

Shortly after the birth of her younger sister, Dara's mother passed away. Both girls were raised by their father, who refused to remarry. It wasn't always the easiest, but both girls loved him to death despite the hardships. He was a skilled mechanic operating a private business. He showed Dara how to make her way through especially a ship's intestines, not to mention speeders and other electronics - that working with your hands will always ensure work.

Since a young age, however, Dara dreamed to one day see the skies and even the void of space. Deep down, however, she wanted to defy the norm - to be a slumgirl that can help other slumbodies rise up from being downtrodden and live their dreams. And that had the girl wondering why she couldn't do both. So she learned all she could about ships and what made them tick in order to make herself useful enough to get out of the slums in order to fulfil that dream.

And that she managed.

Even at age 16, she managed to make herself useful enough to get into the Kuat Flight Academy on her mechanic skill alone - especially given the amount of attacks by enemies on the planet. The rest fell into place once she got the hang of flight-controls and of course she already knew how to swing a fist - it only got more refined.

Naturally, she joined the Alliance Starfighter Corps - at first hoping to eventually make it into the illustrious Revenant Squadron. But eventually she settled into her own one, her will to fight for the people driving her actions. But as time progressed, flight orders became more and more bureaucratic - at least for her. The normal people became less and less important to the top brass. But she persisted, trying to continue to fight for people who were becoming more and more disgruntled as time progressed.

It was with the events on Hapes devolving that she made her choice. At first, the Foundation seemed just like another humanitarian group. It was only when she saw the work they did on the planet coupled with a pamphlet that made its way into her hand, that Dara realised there was more to this organisation. That she would still be able to fly for the people and not for a flag.

With her drive to help the downtrodden, people like herself, she decided to join up as a pilot and mechanic, making the choice to walk away from the life she once knew. Along with some other pilots joining that a squadron within the Foundation was formed - Danger Squadron, harkening back to the heroic Rebel Alliance squadron centuries ago. And once more, the Squadron would fly to protect the people of the Galaxy.

And so, the rebel from Kuat had found a home...

PERSONALITY

Dara is a firebrand, plain and simple. As a girl who grew up in the slums, filters in front of mouths didn't exactly exist, as she needed to stand her ground against all manner of undesirables by speaking her mind.

She is a bit of a hothead at times as well as exceptionally competitive. She's stubborn and not at all scared to get her hands dirty. In a profession dominated by men, she can hold her own. She doesn't back down from a challenge.

But she also has a softer side and an insecure edge, something she mostly plays close to her chest. She might not show it, but she takes some slights to heart. Though her unrefi manner may seem uncaring, she still has a heart of gold.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS
+Ace Pilot- Dara is exceptionally good at flying. Not only Headhunters, but other ships as well. She learned from a young age how to fly and never stopped.
+Mechanic - As the daughter of a ship mechanic and growing up on a ship-manufacturing world, Dara definitely knows her way around a ship's intestines. With the right equipment, she can patch up most ships.
+Operative - As part of a newly shaped Special Forces unit within the Starfighter Corps, Dara is quite capable at intelligence gathering, infiltration, recon or other military operative duties.
+Street smart - Underworld blood still runs in Dara's veins. She knows how to haggle and knows when someone is trying to swindle her and has a good judgment when it comes to who to talk to and who not to on the street.
+Sharpshooter - Dara knows her way around a blaster and can hold her own amongst the likes of Mandalorians and other gunslingers.
+Way of the empty hand - Like most in the military, Dara had rigorous training in unarmed combat. She had been honed into a dangerous weapon even if she was disarmed in some way or other. She'd still be able to defend herself in most situations.

WEAKNESSES
-Normal - Though she's an excellent pilot, she's not Force Sensitive. She does not have the same reflexes a Force Sensitive would have.
-Hotheaded - Dara has a bit of a temper. She can easily be provoked and in so, she can make mistakes in a fight.
-Distinctive features - With Kandaran blood, Dara with her darker features is easier to recognise than other operatives as she doesn't look like a girl-next-door.
-Blades - Though she's ok with a knife in a crunch if pushed to it, she's definitely no blade master. If ever faced with someone with blade knowledge, she'll be at a disadvantage.
-Dancer - Dara has two left feet. She tries to avoid a dancefloor where possible.
