Dark Souls 3

Yx6ipBv.jpg

April 11th

I've been ready since the day it was confirmed.

Anyone else going to be playing?

Do people really find Dark Souls to be that hard? Unforgiving, certainly but is it truly that difficult? I've not yet beaten DS1 (time thing honestly, don't get to game much and when I do I just prefer shorter commitments like Hearthstone these days), but I never found it overly difficult. This is especially true when I chose to opt for a quicker build rather than a slower one. It plays very much like Monster Hunter does. Yes, learning how certain enemies behave is key, but even that is not necessarily something which makes it hard. That being said, I do like the games. I think they offer a good challenge, and their delivery of lore is awesome.

It's different for everyone. I feel the same way you do, I don't find it that difficult anymore now that i've played hundreds of hours of both games with different playstyles numerous times.

But starting out, it kicked my butt. A LOT. There are still a lot of ways that it can be aggravating, too, but they are few and far between for me. It's my favorite RPG series, truely, from the combination of fun character customization, PvP, the rewarding ways to succeed, and the lore.

I guess the biggest different from it and many games is that you are relatively fragile and have to be very cautious and purposeful in your moves. If you're used to a game like that (like Monster Hunter in my case) then it mitigates some of the difficulty. Still poses a challenge, but definitely gets easier.

I will say I kind of hated the random loot drops from certain bosses, or conditions like having so many souls (Innocence? light? it has been awhile.) when killing one.

Fucking great so far. Enemies are generally much more aggreasive and combo a lot more than in DS1 or even DS2. You simply cannot just hide behind a shield anymore, which is not to downplay how useful they are.

The level design is fantastic, enemies are horrifying, the mood is unrelentingly grim.

Ive only fought two bosses so i cant quite compare difficulty yet but it feels like im dying a lot more. Overall shaping up to be the best in the series and a worthy send off.

Personally I think it's the easiest installment of the franchise. Not to say the game isn't good; the level designs are amazing, mechanics of the enemies are very interesting, bosses all have limit breakers that change their attacks halfway through. The game's awesome, just doesn't feel as punishing as the previous ones. I'm almost 3/4 the way through it so if anyone needs help with it let me know.

It's to bad From Software sucks at making PC ports. I'm in the 4th area and it's just crash after crash. I was having so much fun before but now it's just frustrating to the point I just walk away. I hope tomorrows update fixes things somewhat. But really they should get their act together after how bad DS2 was when it came out. And now this.

Bashes head against a stone wall.

Something to consider is that you are now more used to this kind of game. Most people come into this kind of game will little experience and therefore get stomped on. I have yet to play this installment yet, but when I played DS1 I found it to be far easier than people made it out to be. I attribute this to the fact that I played quite a bit of the Monster Hunter games which have a similar kind of gameplay. So I came into the game a little more used to the idea of enemies who cleave through your health and having to learn attack patterns. You already have that skill as well, so I think that could be a big factor.

I come from the same perspective. I played DS2 and when I play Bloodborn its about the same feel. Fragile character, in a monstrous world.

I got DS3 over the weekend, and I am enjoying it after almost a week of playing it. I feel like my dying is due to my play style of dodging everything instead of using a shield more often. But considering I like using greatswords, axes, and even sometimes the good ol dual wielding, I find that I take a different approach to this than the other games I have played.

I just picked this up today xD I know I'm a little late to the Party but I only recently played Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the first sin. I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into this one!

Any words of advice lol
