Invasion Darkness Rises; the Battle of Kintan - TSE Invasion of SJO Kintan

H6jNhX6.png
Like in all things, the Empire calculated all of the pathways ahead of them and carefully considered each possibility. Conflict with the Silver Jedi was not only probable, but it was also inevitable. Sith-Imperial High Command, under the guidance of the Pyramid of Military Command, charted several battle plans for conflict with the Empire’s southern Jedi neighbors. Each one had their own advantages and disadvantages, yet the greatest fear that the Admirals and Generals of the Sith harbored in their hearts was that a military build-up for any of them would telegraph their intentions to the Jedi.
So a compromise was made, the Empire would mobilize their legions along the border to mask key troop movements. With such a wide-ranging build-up, it was believed that the Jedi wouldn’t be able to fully anticipate where the hammer would fall.
Yet when it seemed that the hammer was about to fall, the Empire launched dozens of different aggressive pushes into the Silver Jedi rather than one concentrated push. It wasn’t until many of the Silver Jedi’s forces were tied up elsewhere that the Emperor took to the field himself, bringing with him a sizable majority of the Empire’s might with him to strike at the true target of the massive offensive.
Kintan.
Multiple fleets pooled out of hyperspace from the Mara Corridor, dozens of battlecruisers and smaller destroyers materializing from the void above the desert world. Fighters swarmed and clashed with pinpricks of brilliant light marking both their fury and their termination.
Among the multitude that spilled out of hyperspace into battle were several Ferrata-class assault landers, each of them holding an entire Legionnaire army inside their cavernous holds. They dropped in low, close to the planet amidst a myriad of escort ships that came out of hyperspace with them. The lead ship, codenamed Hope’s Bane, steered down towards the planet’s atmosphere with animalistic abandon. Siege Breakers dropped in alongside them, their orbital autocannons punched noticeable holes in the bulwark shield that protected the hemisphere surrounding the planet’s main fortress.
Deep within its hold was the Emperor of the Sith, his naked body, smeared with scented oils, meticulously attended to as his armor was assembled piece by piece. Surrounding him were supplicants rendered blind, deaf, and dumb by the Emperor’s cutting blades. None save for those of the most exalted rank were allowed to see the Emperor’s scarred and burned flesh, and even those that aided in his armoring were not permitted to gaze upon him.
The last piece of armor was affixed, and the supplicants fled into the gloom that ringed the sanctuary. The one who remained held aloft a plush cushion upon which sat the Emperor’s instruments of wrath; his lightsabers. With a wave of his hand, he called them to his grasp, hooking them at his waist as he departed the sanctum.
Crownguard Protectors fell in behind him as he walked, their silent vigilance marked only by the sound of their feet upon the durasteel deck. They were bound to serve the Emperor in life and in death and were more than eager to lay down their lives in his defense. They trusted nothing and no one, not even the Emperor’s own wives were safe from their scathing scrutiny.
The lander’s bridge filled the Emperor’s gaze as he strode through the threshold, the captain of the vessel turning to face him with a rigid salute.
We’re entering the atmosphere, Supreme Excellency.
Already the periphery of flames began to lick at the bridge’s viewports, the darkness of the void trickling away and replaced by cloud and blood-red sky.
Excellent,” replied the Emperor in his grating baritone, “Disengage engines and transfer all power to shields and maneuverability jets, we’ll let gravity hasten our descent.” Known as the Prazutis Plunge, the maneuver had been coined for the Shadow Hand’s own stratagem during the Battle of Voss. Without further word, the Emperor left the bridge as quickly as he stormed it, heading down towards one of the many launch bays which ringed the massive transport.
When the transport reached the altitude of forty-thousand meters, the blast doors which protected the hangar bays from external intrusion opened simultaneously. The first to launch was the vessel’s smaller gunships and landing craft, spewing out from the vessel’s sides and belly like a great swarm of locusts. Then came the larger vessels, walker carriers and other ships which were too large and cumbersome to launch initially. Following them was another ship, a dark-plated shuttle that pulsed with a malignant aura of dread and violence.
The Emperor watched the altimeter of his shuttle intently, meditating on the violence he was about to drown the world of Kintan with.

Kintan was a pleasant enough world, Yuroic had come here to figure out plans for attack against the Sith. He had been a little confused on why they were planning a defence and attack here and not on the border worlds but Jairdain reminded him that they had been to the most at risk worlds and sorted the defence there. However, Kintan was on the edge of their border and still close to the Sith so it would be sensible to protect the people there as well. So while the full SJO wasn’t around at the moment there was a significant force here. Yuroic was worried about how he had forgotten such an important plan, it was something that he needed to reflect on, memory lapses were becoming more frequent and he didn’t like that.

Yuroic was wearing his full armour and had his bow, Lightsabers and variety of his arrows at his arsenal. Planning the defence of the world was important and he wanted to make sure he looked the role ready to fight. Crossing his arms as he looked around, the civilians were worried, terrified as they had all heard about the Sith, the murder and destruction that comes with them as well. Some of them were being stand-offish with the Jedi, understandable for a lot of outsiders the Sith and Jedi were the same. To see someone with a Lightsaber was enough to feel scared no matter if one was to protect you or not. Yuroic was hoping that the Rangers would provide more a calming presence. The Rangers were just like them, trained and highly skilled but unable to use the Force.

Breathing out slowly, Yuroic looked up to the sky, hopefully this would be just another day of drills. Another calm day, something to prove to the civilians that the SJO was here to keep them safe.

Then the Sith arrived.

Baron Viktor Goetz was called upon by the Emperor of the Eternal Empire, Darth Tacitus, to assist their allies in the invasion of Kintan. The orders were classified to the highest-degree, being directly transmitted to him by the Emperor himself in his personal quarters. In preparation, Viktor rallied his personally trained and ace starfighter pilots who were intuned with the Force, calling the Death Squadron to demonstrate the might of the Eternal Empire. Flying the Eternal Empire's finest interceptors equipped with stealth generators, Viktor's task was to be apart of the massive first-strike assault group tasked with one goal: conquering the planet of Kintan.

While Viktor desired to be at the forefront of combat, his duties were assigned elsewhere: to defend the Siege Breakers from enemy bombers, allowing for the perpetual destruction of Kintan's surface with the extreme capital ships' massive orbital autocannons.

And so, the Death Squadron remained cloaked behind the engines of the massive Siege Breakers, awaiting for the first wave of enemy bombers and starfighters who dared to oppose the Sith Empire's invasion. All those who stood in the path of the Empire would be throughly crushed and destroyed to open the way for a Galactic, Imperial Order, as the galaxy entrusted Viktor and its Empires to accomplish.

As the enormous disembarking operation of the legions housed in the Sith Assault Carrier poured out in regimented columns of armor clad troopers. A contingent of red clad troopers led by a twi’lek in red armor, marched out and separated from the group. Leading this column of Knights and Legionnaires was Darth Voyance. She was clad in blood red armor, with a Sith Amulet embedded in the upper torso. Her armor was sharp and ornate but, still no different from that of the MK.III that her troopers wore.

egions had been assigned to command a sector of the assault of New Kalandra with the 12th Armored Assault Army under General Irveric Tavlar.

She had not partnered with the Sith Army before. Her operations had always been confined to the use of Sith Force intelligence gathering aboard the meditation sphere outfitted Soothsayer Star Destroyer.

But, for New Kalandra she would take on the persona of a war-master marching her forces into the thickest fighting. This would prove an interesting task. She would not fail her master, and her Dark Lord.

Halting her legions, she commanded the captains to form into smaller attack groups and await her command to charge the city.

Marching off, she moved to a set of trenches that had been dug and marked by a line of redoubts. There, repulsor artillery pieces had been assembled.

Voyance stepped into the trench and strode down the trooper clogged ravines towards the general. All the troopers rose to attention and watched the grim faced twi’lek pass by. Mysterious, little known and mainly a Sith of gossip and rumors, many were surprised that Voyance had even come to the battlefield.

Reaching the general she stopped and clasped her armored hands behind her back, resting them on her waist – where her double-sided lightsaber was mounted. Her golden eyes narrowed on the general, before they glanced at the artillery and then at New Kalandra.

“Report, General,” Voyance said.

“What have you for me?”

Mother Vahl. Witness our devotion.” She lifted a vial of her own blood and poured a third into the fire of their altar. “Let the blood spilt today be a sacrifice to you.” She poured a second third. “Grant us, your children, your strength and your wrath.” She poured the rest. “And may the cinders of this scorched earth light the path to home.” The other Vahla in the sermon chanted back: “Mother vahl, witness our devotion.

The red-clad handmaiden knelt next to Joycelyn, presenting the sacrificial blade. She took it and held it over the fire while she stared into the inscription: ‘The cinders cast of the last jedi’s pyre shall light the path to home’.

She held the knife high, the point turned down. Then she brought the point down in one fierce stab. The blade penetrated the chest of the bound human. The red poured and pooled from where the long knife exited his back. Joycelyn stared, unblinking, into the eyes of their unwilling sacrifice as it strained against the shackles, their life’s blood was drawn out of the wounds and drip-fed to the monsters she had bound to her will.

This war with the Silver Jedi Order was a long time coming, and Darth Vornskr the Second had been preparing diligently. She had trained her troops and hoarded her sithspawn. She had drafted stratagems and field-tested her tactical deployments.

Now it was all to come to use in one glorious battle with the nemesis of the Sith Empire.

On board The Dogged Hand, Sith-Imperial troops waited anxiously to engage in the slaughter. The ship lurched as it exited Hyperspace and entered the atmosphere along with the other Ferratas. The planet’s shield had fallen, the Sith Empire had broken through with ferocity and surprise.

Darth Vornskr the Second stood in the grand deployment hangar, clad head to toe in the signature black plate armour of her command. Below she saw her Varanin Legion ready and waiting for their deployment. Intermingled with their transports were rumblers, made to burrow and break their way through ground and mountains. Other transports again were marked with the jagged grin of beast corps: Monsters of sith alchemy, bred for war, siege, and slaughter.

Her ship was also home of a special guest: Lieutenant Tekkio and his contingent of troops. Their goal was their own, a devious plan that required a smaller squad, and of most critical importance. She had only spoken to the lieutenant briefly, but he appeared to be a capable commander despite his stature.

As she watched the shuttles and transports seal and become ready, she heard the siren of imminent deployment sound. Resting a hand on the hilt of Zaudraka, she turned and stepped on board her own shuttle. The Dogged Hand opened its hangars like gaping maws and vomited a stream of shuttles and transports. Now came the battle in truth as they soared to the ground in shuttles big and small.

The shuttles rocked and shook as they descended in the face of Kintan’s defences and counter-fire. Yet they pressed on with the determination of an army with hatred in their eyes and cruel intentions in their hearts. Joycelyn’s shuttles hit the sandy ground and gaped wide to unload their cargo.

With the threat of the Sith looming over the galaxy once more, Reggie had always known that there would be a time when they would attack without warning and had wanted to help with planning how to best defend against them. With that in mind, the Padawan had joined the SJO forces on Kintan, hoping to put his skills to use if he could. Reggie had come to the planet with the help of Simon and had met up with those helping in Kalandra. He had opted to wear light armor so that he could be light on his feet. With his constant training in Soresu and his affinity with the force, the Padawan knew how to defend himself well against most enemies. He had both of his lightsabers with him in case he needed them.

Seeing the citizens of new Kalandra filled with fear of a possible attack made Reggie sick, and the fact that some of them weren’t fully accepting of the jedi made him feel worse. It was natural of course, so he put that feeling behind him and focused on the planning effort. It was sad that he wouldn’t be able to explore the planets culture this day, as he usually liked to do. The sith had arrived to Kintan as that thought ran through his mind.

That’s when the Padawan realized that knowing that something could happen and having said thing actually occur was two different things, and produced two different feelings. The time to act was now.

He had wished there was more time to prepare.

He was glad his wanderings had brought him here. The whispers of a fleet massing at the eedge of Sith space were only growing. As well controlled as the empire was. It was simply not possible to have complete control over the information that went out. People talked. Rumours spread. Ships were sighted and people began to speculate. And when one's primary enemy was an order of Warrior monks with the power to see the future. It made sneak attacks a rather tricky thing.

So when the Padawan's everpresent urge to wander brought him to Kintan. He decided to stay a while. Meet the locals, try the cuisine. Get to know the local culture.

When the ships came tearing out a hyperspace. He was ready. Robes donned and saber at his side. "We should probably get you all to the shelters." He said softly, smiling gently at the family that had been kind enough to allow him to lodge in one of their spare rooms while he spent some time on the planet. With gentle urging motions, he began to sheperd the family through the streets. "Stay close." He whispered gently, one hand moving to rest on the shoulder of a youngling who looked ready to cry. Kneeling down, he looked the child in the eye.

"Just keep your eye on me okay. And dont let go of your dad." He urged, receiving a shaky nod in response. Smiling just a bit more brightly, Aaran began to move through the narrow alleys and streets, moving and gathering up more frightened civillians. Leading a procession towards the shelters. Doing his best to keep the populace calm and orderly.

First the people. Always the people first. Jedi were at the core Defenders. Never aggressors. The safety of the people came first and foremost. It would only be through the preservation of life and the proteciton of the innocent would the Force grant them the strength to resist the Sith.

Lt. Murao commanding the Harrowing Defiance arrived alone on the flank of the Sith Empire's fleet though not awfully far away. The Tachys-class was not suited for front line combat against anything larger than a corvette so the safest deployment would be on the flanks or behind the main contingent to intercept starfighters or hunt down damaged starships. Who knew how many starships or other spaceborne defenses the Jedi had in this location.

Murao sat with rigid attention int he command chair as he watched the fleet with anticipation then looked sternly at his communication's officer "Relay that the Harrowing Defiance is in position." the Cathar looked back towards the bridge window and "Aye sir." the communication's officer responded promptly then forwarded the report to the armada "This is the Harrowing Defiance to fleet command, we are holding position."

The deep drumming of mass-driver guns cut through the aural dampeners of each of the Legionnaires dug in and entrenched far outside the defenses of New Kalandra. Heavy accelerated shells and explosive blaster rounds began to rain over the city, concentrated around the defensive positions and structures observed by reconnaissance detachments of the Lord General Kor Vexen's personal Legion.

Unshielded, the Nikto metropolis faced the full breadth, unsheltered from the rain of supercharged particles and explosives which threatened to crumble the ramshackled scrap skeletons of the city which hadn't already been annihilated by the fierce barrages of 'Powerhammer' self-propelled guns emplaced in the fortified trenches to act as the main breakthrough as the mass driver cannons of 'Carnivore' and 'Claymore' class artillery variant repulsors.

Behind the reinforced fortifcations of the artillery batteries waited the men of Tavlar's 12th Armored Assault Army , waiting for the city's defenses to be softened up enough for the armored spearhead to roll through and enact death on an industrial scale upon the Jedi defenders that cared to defend it.
The repulsor lifts and power supplies of the repulsor-tanks and transports rumbled loudly, the armored fist already sectioned into their companies with armor supporting infantry and vice versa ; both would be instrumental in the assault.

In the trenches, acting as maestro of the orchestra that was the rumbling Sith guns, Tavlar paced back and forth. Reeling out orders in his characteristic, stoic cadence as intel of the enemy was ushered forth to him inbetween reports from lower officers that their detachment was readied and waited for further commands.

Immediately the appearance of Tavlar's men carried a characteristic appearance, predominantly draped in their Airborne armor pattern and dark urban grey 'Enigma' pattern camouflage it was a well equipped force readied for their exacted task of armored breakthrough and swift, neck breaking assault.

When the Twi'lek appeared on his stretch of fortifications he knew it well before he looked to her, the frantic but largely utilitarian chatter of his men dimming to welcome the Sith. Though the General's guise was concealed by the armored visage of his own Airborne armor his station could be determined by the rank bars displayed prominently on his breastplate below his Army's insignia and the crimson trimmed black and field-grey armor weave beneath the otherwise camouflaged armor . A pragmatic wear for a General among the Sith.

"My Lady, our batteries have been hot since we've dug in. The Lord General was able to get us eyes on a great deal of the exterior defenses and so that is our priority, once our front is secured we'll breach holes through the wall and clear the ground for the assault. My men are ready at your command..." Tavlar spoke, carrying himself with an ever present placidity and confidence, even in the face of the Sith Lady who'd only just immediately announced her presence.

Far from the Sith Fleet, and even farther from the planet, a lone hyperspace ring carrying a near ancient ship dropped out of hyperspace. A loud sputtering noise erupted within the cockpit, echoing as a string of curses quickly followed the calamity. Fingers quickly flickered over small switches and a fist pounded the sideboard command console before lights popped into life once more.

Engines burst into life, mechanical clamps unhitching themselves from the inside of the hyperspace ring as the small interceptor shot forward.

In the far off distance lay Kintan, a planet that he knew next to nothing about save for the fact that it was currently being besieged. He was so far out that he could barely make out the planet itself, much less the fleets belonging to either side. The old ships sensors were all but useless, though they did manage to show him distant blips.

Fingers gripped the controls a bit tighter, and he pushed the vessel forward.

In the back of his mind he thanked Mariya.

Before the two of them met he'd not even been able to pilot speeders. She'd been the one to show him all this, and without her he likely would have ended up coming out of hyperspace by crashing into a Star Destroyer. With a quiet thanks to her and a quick recital of the code he pushed himself forward.

Once more unto the breach.

"My Lady, Admiral, we'll be arriving in five minutes," the AI MORGAUSE announced to the two. With a heavy sigh, Taeli roused herself from the bed in their quarters within the Elidibus and started preparing herself for the battle to come. It had been some time since the Sith had launched a full on offensive against their ancient enemies, but the day had finally arrived that the Emperor desired to wage all-out war upon the Silver Jedi Order. Various feints and skirmishes along the border had been conducted to throw the Silver's intelligence off the trail of the main build-up of forces, the goal being making them worry about everything along the growing and encroaching border with the Sith Empire, to conceal the true target of the first thrust of the invasion.

Rose was keeping Nerralyn and little Aerys company, but right now... she couldn't afford to be distracted. The depth of emotions she would be calling upon for power; her anger, her hatred, her passion, all of it needed to be under her command and not allowed to run wild. She did concede, at the request of Fiolette, that their bond would remain open and Fiolette could sense her real self underneath all of that steel-willed control.

"Staying here in space to smash their fleet or joining me on the ground?" she asked, turning her head slightly to look back at Fiolette as she slipped her cortosis-weave robes on. The armor came next, chestplate and shoulder guards, gauntlets and boots. Finally, she affixed her shoto saber into its concealed slot in her robes and picked up her normal lightsaber. She was ready to go into battle once again.

"And love, you're still missing something," she added, pointing to a pant leg sticking out from under the bed. With cheeky smirk, she left the quarters before her wife to make sure everything was ready in the hangar for their assault.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elements of the Seventh Fleet known as Battlegroup Elidibus emerged from hyperspace along with the rest of the Sith's armada, centered around the Star Dreadnaught Elidibus and the other command vessels. The ships unleashed a torrent of fire and death against any force foolish enough to stop their progress towards the planet. Within the hangar bay, Taeli, Fiolette, and the Black Talons were loaded up on the transports and beginning their launches. Their destination: the fortress Kh'aris to smash the Silver garrison there and destroy the shield generator.

"The Emperor's ships have punched temporary holes in the shields, deploy," she commanded.

The dark ships of the Sith were disgorged from the Elidibus and other vessels in their fleet and once again Darth Arcanix would help lead an assault upon a Jedi world.

Among the multiple fleets that had emerged from the Mara Corridor had been Battlegroup Elidibus, a thrown-together group of vessels aimed at aiding the Sith Empire's conquest of the system. Led by Darth Arcanix's personal flagship of the same name, the Battlegroup's weapons lit up in a fury and engaged any forces that dared come near. Meanwhile, deep within the hold of the star dreadnought laid Darth Arcanix and her wife Lord Admiral Fiolette Raaf. Their bodies still tangled up in the sheets of their bed, a tradition before every battle. A tradition that should it be the last time they lay eyes on one another, the last time that they could touch the other then they would do so knowing their love was at its strongest.
Fiolette watched with a longing glance as Taeli slipped from her embrace after the shipboard artificial intelligence informed them of the Elidibus's final approach. They would both be called upon to serve the Sith Empire as they had been in years past, and yet this battle would serve as more than just another battle along the Sith Empire's evergrowing belt. Accusations between the two had been flown and crossed, shouts of neglect and threats of divorce hovered over their marriage. Love still lingered between them, even as the Lord Admiral rolled out of bed, her feet pressed against the thin carpet that lined their chambers.
Taeli inquired if Fiolette would be on the ground, or here in the void, and if Fiolette had been honest she wasn't quite sure anymore. She wasn't quite sure of anything, and it scared her completely that she could feel this way. "I suppose I'll join you on the ground." Her voice low, soft as she walked across their chambers. Her thoughts flooded to their wedding night, where the words, I belong to you had been uttered in sweetness, where Fiolette's vulnerability had been exposed. As she suited up her gaze would wander toward her wife and then towards the armor in her hands, armor that had been repaired after a meeting with cultists on PL-40112.
Absent-mindedly her hand went to her chest, the feign pain of the power hammer as it made contact with her armor. A heavy sigh escaped Fiolette's lips as she finished suiting up, mostly. Taeli reminded her of her pants, which are quite important but the simple task reminded the older woman of the very crisis she found herself in. Unsure, forgetful and Balance help her if she left the galaxy now with two young children to raise. The feeling of vulnerability was not something that Fiolette wanted nor wanted to feel and yet there it was, to remind her of just how human she really was.
She took the item and finished up with her armor and looked at the mirror. An enigmatic express, and armor as dark as the void itself with trims of red and a sidelong glance toward Taeli. Fiolette secured her faceless helmet and looked one last time into the mirror that only showed the reflection of anonymity. Quietly she followed her wife out of their chambers and down the corridor, on a vessel that she did not build in a fleet that was scarcely hers, in an Empire that cared no more for its servants than it did for the Silvers who would perish by their hand.
Was this all life had to offer?
A bad time to find yourself in an existential crisis.
A bad time to have marital problems.
A terrible time to feel vulnerable.
A terrible time to feel alone.

Commander Valkren Calderon extinguished the cigarette on the railing behind him, letting a cough escaped as he dabbed the butt end of the stick into the dirty metal. Flicking it to the side, he gave a sigh and exited the corner he was ‘hiding’ in. The interior lighting of Fortress Kh’aris flickered to reveal a series of white and grey plated Katarn armor around the commanders body, his helmet hanging from his right hand. On his right shoulder plate rested the long time insignia of his ‘Radama Raiders,’ almost carved into the protective piece to show his long standing dedication to past friends.

After a quick turn of the corner, Valkren was already in the tactics room of Kh’aris’ command tower, surrounded by intelligence officers of the Sixth Kintan Infantry division, and Antarian Ranger operatives as well. They seemed to be hard at work preparing logistics for the drills today.

As of recently, it seemed as if war was a very real threat looming out there on the horizon. Although no soldier or jedi knew exactly when; they knew it was only a matter of time. Thus came the orders to prepare. Oh, and prepare they did. Drill after drill, it felt as if Valkren was back in the Galactic Republic’s bootcamp. He couldn’t remember a time they had trained this hard for something that he wasn’t even positive was going to happen, hence the cigarettes. He did have his thoughts about war with the sith again, but more than enough doubts to counter that.

That didn’t mean he was going to slack on his own preparation. Himself and Hades platoon had been drilling constantly with members of the mechanized unit that had recently been stationed here. That, simulated firefights with members of the local forces, and insertion training with the dropship group were on the list of common rotations. Now, he wasn’t one for bragging and getting ahead of himself, but he had to admit he quite liked what he had seen from the new units of rangers that were coming from basic after signing their contracts. Their paramilitary attache’ to the Jedi was strong, and he knew they could put up a damn good fight.

Alright everyone, let's get this over with so we can skip to the drinks at the pub.” Calderon stated this as he walked to the middle of the control room, attempting to keep the group’s mood lighthearted while looking to the Castameer tactical display.

“How many teams are currently out there for drills?” He turned to the nearest Nikto, awaiting a response as the local officer checked his own console.

“As of rangers it’s just Icarus Sir, looks like Lieutenant Rarr had them out bright and early for drills before anyone else. The Devil Dogs are currently split between patrol rotations at Kalandra and here. ”

A smirk rose to his face as he heard this, looking back to the display to view where exactly Rarr was. He wasn’t in the least bit surprised that the killer-for-hire turned soldier was literally soaring past expectations with his new unit. Valkren wasn’t always sure of how Beltran would take to leading soldiers, but it seemed to be growing on the soldier at this point.
Valkren set his helmet down and placed both of his hands on the display to lean over it, several intelligence officers joining him around the display.

Right then, I’ll join up with Hades and begin insertion training in the wastelands to the west..We’ll make rotations a-

“Commander!”

Kark Kark Kark

It was never good when someone called for him like that, especially as of his recent experiences. He looked directly up as one of the ranger’s officers glanced out the viewport- he was looking up? The expression on this officer’s face was almost lifeless, drained of color as seemingly looked directly up out of the window.

Valkren glanced about before he decided to move, trying to get a gauge from everyone else on what exactly was happening. More eyes went wide with surprise and distress as they looked to their related consoles and computers. Finally fed up with the sudden silence, the commander pushed himself up from the display. Before he could reach one of the consoles, the proximity alerts on their tactical display began to bark. Red lights flashed from it, attempting to get everyone's attention in the room.

“The Sith are here, sir.”

Valkren would physically kick his own ass if he could, feeling like he somehow jinxed himself and the planet as he watched the display light up with constant warnings, pointing out several new targets on approach to the planet.

It wasn’t long before the forward teams punched through their planetary shield to begin their advance, several ships dropping into the atmosphere.

Valkren was already in the process of lifting his helmet above his head while he barked orders back at the team of officers and intelligence specialists, who were now scattering to scramble the fortress defenses and assure that they had a safe evacuation route for any civilians looking for shelter.

As the Helmet slid over his head, he’d immediately tap into the command channel and his own team’s.

“Well it's not ideal gents- but the sith are here. Let’s get out there and show them what we’re made of! Priority is the safety of any and all civilians, but to do that we can’t let this fortress fall. Hades, Devildogs: meet me at the trenches.” He’d cut the transmission and let everyone do their job. Even with a mess of personnel running back and forth within the corridors he was confident that they’d get to their posts on time.

Valkren first made his way for the armory, in search of some very big guns.

Outside of the fortress, the devildogs were already scrambling to get to their relative squads and armor support. Fighter pilots began to brief in the hangars, even as little time as they had, they would still prep’ any game plan they could.

Wyatt sat on his knees, watching from the balcony as shots rained against the energy shields of the city - and against those places that weren’t so lucky. Duracrete exploded in harsh displays of glassed stone, and screams echoed through the force with every shot. It’d been hours of this - a constant drain on Wyatt’s emotions as he felt each person die in turn; how many was it so far?
16,402. He knew, because he felt each one die, and experienced it with them; easing their pain through the Force, through that distant connection to each.
General -”, a man offered him as he had a hand pressed to his shoulder. Wyatt almost jerked his head to the side at it - but sighed as he realized who it was. Not the Darkness he felt in the distance, but a soldier of the planet, looking to bring him back to the planning table.
- the meeting is beginning.”
Wyatt simply nodded as he lifted himself to walk back to the council room - now surrounded by an endlessly experienced militia formed from the local security forces, and those experienced veterans of wars with the One Sith. Each had a solemn look, an obvious sign they’d already lost much - and they didn’t have high hopes for what was to come.
Wyatt had to change that.
Gentlemen…”, he offered with a quick glance to the Jedi around him.
The situation looks bleak, I will not deny that.”, he offered as he rested both palms on the table.
Artillery continues to strike the city - and unless we find a way to stop that, the city will fall before days end. I’ve also felt the presence of a new combatant - a Sith Lord.”
Some of the commanders around the table sighed and shook their heads with disappointment, not the answer they were looking for. Wyatt furrowed a brow as his voice took a touch more confidence -
I’ve a plan.”, he said, nearly quiet.
Those volunteers willing will come with me - and we will teleport to the lines. If we turn the artillery to ash, strike down the leadership of the Sith in the trenches, we can hold out - long enough for relief forces to come. I just…”, Wyatt seemed to shake his head as he felt another die in the city. A moment to let them pass, and he brought himself back.
I just need volunteers.”
Around him, many looked away - down. They knew that going to the Sith trenches was little more than a suicide mission - even if it would save the city. Most here had a family, people relying on them for more than death - but as a Father, a husband, and a brother. Yet - a few did; hands rose slow but steady between men of many years, and some of few.
Notably, even a few jedi raised their hand - one was Lanik Dawnstar Lanik Dawnstar , which brought a smile to Wyatt’s face. He recognized him more than the others.
For those of you willing, please - collect your gear, make your peace, and come with me. We can begin shortly…”, he offered as he walked back outside to the balconey he was under. He could see where he wanted to be - knew what it would take - but he knew that if he didn’t prepare, he would be far too tired once he appeared for anyone's sake.
Slowly, he closed his eyes and kneeled once more. Meditation before the fight - it brought peace ot his mind, he needed that much.

"Disengaging hyperdrives in three...two...one."
The Warfleet's capital ship, as well as a large contingent of the Warfleet itself, came to a sudden stop above the treacherous planet of Kintan, yet another home to the Silver Jedi fools who dared to oppose the Empire. Time had been spent in great quantity planning for this endeavor that would continue the assault against the Order who so blatantly opposed the true masters of all. They would fall for their crimes, their sins, and the Wolf of Noxis hungered for the wars in which his blade could wipe away the cretins from the map. Such was the state of things in this galaxy of Chaos. Sinners and saints, blood and glory. All were the same in the grand scheme of things, which Lorale continuously acknowledged in his own mind as he marched through battle after battle.

"Lord Farmar, the armada has begun descending into the planet with their troops," the ever-loyal Tyths Lore, Overlord of the Fleet, informed his master. "The Emperor himself has reportedly broken through the shield and is aiming for the Fortress Kh'aris."

The white-haired warlord smiled to himself and placed his heavy, crowned helmet atop his head, his eyes shining with excitement in their emerald green fashion, "Fantastic. Are the Pirekead ready for deployment?"

Tyths nodded curtly, "Yes, my Lord. They wait eagerly in their armory and have been outfitted with the equipment Lord Kascalion designed."

The Wolf exhaled, his lips forming another smirk that brought his sharpened canines to bear, "Good. Inform their handler to escort them to my shuttle. I will disembark within the moment. Tell the fleet to begin pelting the shield and to deploy our soldiers wherever possible. I want this planet eradicated within the day."

Tyths bowed as he always does when his Lord disembarks for battle, his face stern but his heart beating with anticipation for the glorious day before them.

The descent to the planet through the breaches the Emperor had formed with his reckless yet impressive maneuver was as chaotic as the weavings of the Force. Many shuttles that descended alongside their liege lord's were eviscerated by the orbital defenses, putting themselves in the path to protect their lord, resulting in their frantic comm chatter being silenced by static and explosions. Lorale felt nothing for the death of his legionnaires for he knew that their sacrifices were what enabled him to eventually break through the atmosphere and ensure his landing.

"Mae crerdram. Ara aeui raodae kur daosr? (My children. Are you ready for death?)" the Wolf asked in the language of Helgard as he examined each and every one of his faithful.

"Yak, Lurd Mumorcr! (Yes, Lord Monarch!)" they shouted in unison, clanging their armored fists together three times.

"Two Minutes to landing zone!"

He smiled brightly at the announcement, giving orders to the shuttle pilot to increase the descent speed and aim for the defenders not within the safety of the Fortress before turning back to his children who had begun practically bounding in their chairs, "Ara aeui raodae su koda srak kaar kaor? (Are you ready to make them feel fear?)"

"Yak, Lurd Mumorcr!" they shouted with more clanging.

"Ara aeui raodae su kaoks ivum sraer kuirk? (Are you ready to feast upon their souls?)"

"Yak, Lurd Mumorcr!"

"Prepare for impact!"

After the events of Bimmisaari, Jessica knew the Sith needed time to lick their wounds, while, in the meantime, the Jedi fortified the border worlds closest to the Sith. However, she knew better than to get overconfident, and she would deploy accordingly. The enemy fired the first volleys of artilery barrages onto the city's exterior defenses, and managed to cause some casualties early in the siege; however, based on the sensor readings, the enemy was still well outside the city limits, so counter-battery fire was to be ordered on the double. Yet, for now, there was no more action that made more sense than simply ordering the evacuation of the city. She knew, from past engagements against the Sith, that they would not hesitate to kill civilians beyond what could conceivably be construed as collateral damage, so the priority was to evacuate civilians and get them to safety, off-world if at all feasible. Capturing the city, however, required capturing Fortress Kh'aris, and she would show these Sith that they can't just expect the Jedi to give up the fortress, nor the city, without a fight. Yes, the objective was to get the civilians to safety, but engaging the enemy was important as well. For the evacuation efforts to work, though, she needed a means to distract the enemy.

"All units, commence evacuation of the city! The enemy must not reach the fortress, nor reach the civilians; we need to buy time for the civilians to get to safety!" Jessica broadcasted over all the major frequencies of the Order's ground forces around New Kalandra.

"Sensors indicate the enemy has, for the time being, limited airpower in the area"

"Fire for effect! Commence airstrike at these coordinates! We need to support our allies leading the assault against the enemy artillery!" she ordered, referring to Wyatt Morga Wyatt Morga and Lanik Dawnstar Lanik Dawnstar .

In the city, improvised machinegun and sniper nests are being set up, ready to rain down fire on enemies if they come close, with 120mm mortars being mounted on some rooftops, alongside some missile troopers, sporting brand-new triple-stage tandem charges to fire against both aircraft and ground vehicles. These triple-stage tandem charges were also outfitted to rocket artillery as well as anti-aircraft units, albeit in much larger sizes matching proton rockets and concussion missiles respectively. To begin, the 120mm mortars were fired in airbursts at those lighter vehicles, in hopes of getting to the joints or the heads of these light walkers, while the 220mm mortars mounted in vehicles were fired at the heavy, self-propelled guns instead. An entire volley of mortars and proton rocket-sized tandem charges was being fired at the entrenched enemy force in the city's outskirts. And that was just the ground-based artillery. She knew better, however, than to assume that besieging force to be the only enemy ground force; she needed to remain alert to any other threats looming large. At the same time, infantry began to guide whatever Nikto civilians could still be saved out of harm's way to the extent it was feasible, supplementing what Aaran Tafo Aaran Tafo or Reggie Faayare Reggie Faayare were doing.

"Anti-aircraft units, weapons tight! We need to maintain a fighter screen over the city!"

The enemy force was found to be vulnerable to air attack, at least for the time being, it was time to exploit it. The first wave of attack was carried out by torpedo bombers, peppering the area with energy torpedoes, to soften shields on enemy vehicles before the subsequent bombing run made use of heavy proton bombs as well as heavy plasma bomblets, that were dropped at various formations of enemy forces, artillery or other vehicles, and enemy infantry caught in the bombs' blast. However, she could feel that enemy reinforcements are en route as the airstrike was happening, so that's why there was a need to maintain anti-aircraft on high alert. Anti-aircraft units were, as weapons tight indicated, instructed to fire only at hostiles, and, of course, a fighter screen was maintained over New Kalandra. That was done since she needed to be aware of threats such as missiles and enemy aircraft, both attack craft and landing craft, that could be deployed against the city or against her forces. As soon as enemy reinforcements, fighters or otherwise, would come within range of anti-aircraft batteries on the outer defenses, they only needed confirmation of hostility to fire. The Jedi were not beaten, far from it.

  • Had heavy weapons infantry take up positions inside the city
  • Fired mortars and proton rockets at the entrenched enemy (Irveric)
  • Dropped heavy plasma bomblets, large bombs as well as energy torpedoes on the besieging force

Voyance turned her head to look back to General Tavlar. She looked him up and down and then flicked her eyes to the artillery, belching fire and death in illuminating balls of smoke. With not a sound her head turned back away to look at New Kalandra city. The shells punctuating their deadly actions with erupting smoke, fire, and debris. As he pondered the general’s report her hands unlatched from one another and swung forward were they lead her arms in crossing over her chest.

“Defenses?” She said coolly.

“Our priority is providing an avenue for our legions to enter the city and secure the objectives.”
Darth Voyance said, continuing.

Turning on her heel, she faced General Tavlar and strode to him. The Twi’leks cold stare maintained as she advanced, she came to within a breaths distance from General. Her face an ice blue, molded into a beautiful complexion that hid a deeply twisted soul. One that only loved one thing, the Darkness that had saved her and given her power. Nothing else.

“Have your batteries fire into the city and scorch the buildings to dust. Make sure a breech is formed large enough for the legions and your assault army to pass through. You and I shall lead the charge,” Voyance commanded flatly.

She looked away and plucked her lightsaber from her belt mount. Using it as a commanding staff, she pointed to her red legionnaires and waved them to march forward. The horde of attack group formed legionnaires crossed the trenches and assembled in a long line of square squadrons, just in front of the artillery pieces.

Then the shells came. Pounding the trench lines and erupting over head. Voyance's lips snapped into a deep snarling frown. She threw up her arms and spewed the darkside in an surging torrent, forming a shield around her and General Tavlar. As the fire burned and swelled around them, she flexed her fingers into a burst that blasted the smoke, fire and debris away.

She quickly pointed to the general and shouted, "Return fire now General. No mercy, no quarter. Burn the city to ruin. Then follow my men into the city. At once!"

Voyance then leapt with the force to her legionnaires and marhced among them, and spoke to hold control of their formation.

"Knights on me, provide Force cover for our troopers! We will advance now!" She bellowed at them. The Sith Knights gathered and kept watch, redirecting missiles and shells with the force.

Voyance powered her body in the darkside, channelling it into powerful active Battle Meditation. She bathed her forces in her consciousness and bolstered their fighting spirit. Super charged by the darkside they would have no hesitatition.

Voyance ignited the first end of her saber and pointed it at the city.

"All groups, charge!"

War had come once again.

The Sith-Imperial war machine was fierce in it's swift push into Silver Jedi space. Lord Admiral Zahori Denko was one of the greatest supporters of this attack and she would ensure a decisive victory in the name of the Sith. She prepared her recently reinvented fleet for battle before taking her place upon the bridge of the Legator II. From the CIC of her dreadnought, Athora watched over her fleet as it was preparing for hyperspace. Deep within the bowels of the fleet's starships, thousands and thousands of Imperials were mobilizing with purpose. Many prayed and said their farewells to family as it was highly possible that they would not make it home, however their confidence that they would be victorious was unbreakable. To die in the name of Imperial victory was a glorious end. Making the enemy die in defeat would be even better.

The entirety of Athora's fleet entered hyperspace one by one and ended up on the other side, near Kintan space but far off enough to have to move forward to engage with enemy forces. As they came on the approach, the fleet maneuvered to their respective positions in battlegroups. Each group had their purpose and were equipped to fulfill them. It was a massive war fleet, one the Silver Jedi would certainly fear. If not, they would die braver than most.

"All stations, prepare for battle. Move into battle positions and engage once in range. Do not let up. The Emperor graces us all with his presence. The filth of the Jedi will be wiped clean from this planet. The dark side demands it."

Being a Jedi was a lot of busywork Ryv was not particularly fond of. He was inherently lazy and after years of reinforcing that behavior, lazy days became the norm. Jedi work was the exact opposite of that. Waking up early, wearing pants, it was all too much for the kiffar. This particular day started as a me-day for him, as he'd been focused on running errands and gathering intel. Rumor had it credits were being exchanged planetside for his head, which left him feeling a little more than anxious. It had been over a year since he left his old life behind and disappeared into the galaxy, choosing instead to seek redemption with the Jedi.

While Kintan had been under the influence of the Silver Jedi Order for some time, the planet had been in Hutt Space even longer. Dozens, if not hundreds of criminal organizations had once called the planet home. While the majority were chased away, some roots ran too deep to be upturned by even the Jedi. Those were the roots Ryv spent the past week digging around and searching through. He managed to find a few of his old contacts but it all eventually led to a dead end. Everyone knew Ryv was out of the game and had gone soft. He wasn't a threat anymore, everyone knew it, himself included.

Midway through a series of violent cursing at nothing, in particular, the Jedi padawan stumbled back as someone bumped into him while running past. Ryv hit the ground with a grunt and looked up in confusion. Shadows darkened the city as fighters of all shapes and size raced overhead. Shouts of war echoed from the outskirts of the city, the direction everyone was running from. Ryv's first instinct was to stand, turn, and get the hell out of there. He was fifty feet away from where he fell, fleeing to the hangar he landed his ship before sliding to a halt.

"Shit, I'm a Jedi," his face met his palm before he turned around and began wading through the crowd. He raised a hand and activated his wrist communicator. "Uh, Wyatt, its Ryv. There are a lot of bad dudes dropping in on New Kalandra. I'm gonna get as many people out as I can, but I can hear them already, man. These people are dying," Ryv lowered the communicator and pushed on, racing through the crowded streets. Small explosions sounded from the direction he ran, which sent another wave of stress and anxiety washing over him. Being out in the shit was so far from how he wanted to spend his day he couldn't help but curse again.

Jerek Morrows

A Jedi's Life is Sacrifice.
Fortress Kh'aris, hours before the attack...

To offer strategy against the Sith fell under purview of Jerek's mandate. He took on the task as a formal request from the Order at Large, and as he monitored the movement of emergency supplies and rations his lips drew a thin line. It was one thing to expect a militant force to stave off an enemy.

Militarization of any number of Jedi smacked of the Grand Army of the Republic of yore. It was a time when the Jedi were deputized and made ranking officers to fight against the so-called enemies of Democracy. They became embroiled in war, and the conflict clouded their ability to see the traps laid ahead of them.

What disturbed him even more was the sheer lack of a chain of command. Scant few Masters remained within this Order of Silver Jedi, lost to their own devices or to a new calling. A handful of Knights and mere children were left to take up arms under the pretenses left behind by their former instructors and trusted mentors. If it came to war, it would be gruesome.

His report was already lengthy and grim, but the Jedi kept to his duty.

Zero Hour

The alarms screamed through his skull and ripped Jerek from his meditation. Hours since he sent his referral and notes to Wyatt Morga Wyatt Morga and the rest of the Jedi for review, the man rested in hopes of restoring his clarity of mind and finding peace with the situation he was in.

Their fears were realized in an instant. Disjointed images of the attack at Ossus those many years ago played back through his thoughts. The Knights he played with as a child mowed down in droves lingered at the forefront of his thoughts as a similar background music haunted him.

Not today, he reminded himself. Not ever again, if I can help it.

His eyes snapped open. The attackers wouldn't have pierced their defenses yet. There was still time to shore up a proper defensive effort. There was still time to protect people from the coming onslaught.

Jerek centered himself in that Knowledge, and drank in the harmony that it afforded him.

He would need all of that comfort and more.
