- Duelist: The training her mother put her through was brutal, but effective. From an early age Vaylin developed a preference for physical combat. Whether it be with nothing but fists, or dual weaponry. The latter developing due to a simple desire of being better than her siblings. If they were going to attack her with one each, why not retaliate with two? This continued into her eventual Force training, where the Zabrak had a more primary focus on her lightsaber skills instead. Keeping within the theme of being a mainly physical fighter.
- Icy Resistance: Much like any Valkyrie that has spent several years training on Mygeeto, Vaylin has developed a much greater capacity to endure severe cold weather. Now while she isn’t exactly going to be marching across Hoth bare. Vaylin is capable of surviving the frigid cold, without having to kill any Wampas. Outside of the prior survival training, this is achieved through active use of the Force.
- Survivalist: Between being forced to survive on Dxun for five years, and the brutal endurance training she went through as a Valkyrie, Vaylin has developed a knack for survival. Be it a dense jungle infested with vicious predators, or a vast snowy tundra. She’s learned how to adapt in order to survive, familiar territory or not.
-
- Buried Forecity: Even though it’s been several years since her time on Dxun, the feral state she had devolved into was never completely erased. It’s still there, buried deep as can be in Vaylin’s psyche. If someone knew her well enough, and had the capability to dig far enough to reach those mental scars. They could send Vaylin into a feral frenzy, with no concern for her own safety.
- Not a Tank: Despite having a heavy focus on physical combat, Vaylin is not built to endure heavy hits. Much preferring an agile moveset, Vaylin will not face tank blows from an opponent that is physically twice her size, and likely wielding an equally as heavy weapon.

Vaylin was born into what should’ve been a traditionally patriarchal family. But a particular wrench was thrown into that through her mother, Essara. While her side of the family had since been twice removed from it, Essara’s grandmother was of Dathomirian descent. And yet despite that, it seemed that their traditions had firmly rooted themselves in Vaylin’s mother. Her father, Varlo, endeavoured to try his best keeping her in line, but Zabraks were a particularly independent race.
Where Varlo was content in keeping things as is, Essara was always vying to expand their reach, improve the family name. She wanted her children to be fighters, and didn’t waste time when her firstborns were of age. Tonor and Vera were fraternal twins born a few years before Vaylin. They were not spared any pain or anguish as their mother threw them into lessons and training, teaching them how to fight and kill at an early age. The process caused them to become jaded, and their competitive nature would clash with their eventual younger siblings.
Once Vaylin was born, Essara had learned a lot in figuring out her children’s limits, and how to push them beyond. But while Vaylin was like a sponge, taking in everything taught, she was very much resistant against her mother’s ways. Whereas she wanted her daughter to be solely focused on the family, Vaylin wanted to go offworld, to explore. To a point she made several attempts to leave, only to get caught and forced into stricter lessons.
Then one day, Vaylin discovered her connection to the Force. She had been out in the woods with her father, who was overseeing her training that day. A frustrated struggle had led to an outburst of emotion, sending an involuntary Force Push into a tree, splintering it. Varlo knew what this meant, and didn’t hesitate to warn Vaylin to not speak of this to her mother. But Essara was ever a hawk, and Vaylin could only keep it hidden for so long before something slipped out.
Essara was frightened learning this, as Vaylin was the only one in the family to develop a connection. She weighed the pros and cons, finding that with no one available to train her daughter in the Force, the only other option was to seal the power away. What she hadn’t anticipated, was her husband going against her completely.
After discovering his wife was researching Dathomirian rituals. Varlo enacted a plan to save his daughter. He took her away one night, promising she was going some place where she'd be able to learn to use the Force. Varlo took her to an old friend of his, one he knew had left for the Jedi Order in their youth. At age eleven, Vaylin was free from the tyrannical control of her mother.
For the next four years, Vaylin trained under Galactic Republic’s Jedi Order. Just as she had done with her mother’s training, she took to the Jedi teachings with eagerness to learn everything she could. It was arguable as restrictive, but it was a much better situation than the one she had been taken from.
But then the Netherworld Event happened.
She was on Dxun with a small group of her fellow Jedi, exploring a rumour that an unknown group were sighted at one of the dark temples. One night however, Vaylin awoken to find everyone had suddenly disappeared. Another Padawan, two Knights and her Master had just vanished into thin air. Vaylin knew nothing of what happened at the time, all she knew that whatever happened, they never returned…
Vaylin spent the next five years abandoned within the jungles of Dxun, with only her lightsaber to defend herself with. Alone and terrified, she had made a rash decision in finding shelter that same night, instead going in the opposite direction to the ship they had arrived on. By the time she had found her way back the next morning, it had been beset upon by numerous local beasts.
Even when the galaxy finally began recovering from half the population being drawn into the Netherworld, Vaylin was too far gone. By that point she had become just a feral as the predators that had tried to hunt her. Any ships that arrived, and their occupants were attacked and destroyed by the Zabrak.
Then one day a Dark Jedi by the name of Aria Vale arrived. And like any other person who landed in the area, Vaylin immediately attacked them. But she found resistance in the Dark Jedi, and found herself soundly defeated. Instead of meeting her fate that day, Aria decided to take Vaylin on as an Apprentice. Seeing something in the once Jedi, who had been swamped in the Dark Side that always emanated across Onderon’s moon.
From that day forward, until her training was considered complete, Vaylin became devoted to Aria. Wherever she went, the Zabrak followed. Be it a brief stint in the Primeval, to setting a foot in the Sith Brotherhood, and then remaining to see and join what evolved into the Sith Empire. Vaylin would go on to grow stronger, joining the ranks of Sith, rising from Apprentice to Knight. She was quick to join the Valkyries in the wake of her forming them with Kaalia and Imperia.
It was during this time that Vaylin experienced two of the most defining moments in her life. The first came just before her ascension to Sith Knight. She had travelled back home to Iridonia, with the intent of killing her mother. Along the way she encountered Lassiter and Ameli Trahir , two members of the Ember of Vahl. Her first real interaction with that particular cult. During that encounter she had learned that her father was no longer present. At some point over the years, the two had sired another child, only for Varlo to whisk the infant away one day and never return. Ultimately, Vaylin walked away from that having killed not just her mother but also her eldest siblings, who were by that point overtly brainwashed. Just as she had severed herself from her family name years ago, she had now severed the last ties to that past.
The second was a much slower, longer burn, starting from all the way back to where this all started for Vaylin. Back on Dxun she had blamed the Jedi for abandoning her, and eventually realized they had no hand in it, but by then she simply didn’t care. What did infuriate her though, was why did the Netherworld not take her too?
The answer came when she finally undertook her Valkyrie Trials, the final step before she officially became one. It required venturing into the Netherworld and surviving it, becoming bound to its chaotic nature. Vaylin realized that day why she had never been taken years ago.
It wasn’t her time.
Time moved on, and people departed. Even when Aria had eventually disappeared along with Imperia, Vaylin continued to strive onwards. In time ascending to Lord and taking the name Darth Moirai, Lady of Subjugation. Even within the Valkyries she rose to the role of Elder, bestowed to her by Kaalia Pavanos .
The majority of her service to the Sith Empire was spent on the frontlines, fighting in several campaigns as the Sith grew from its infancy, expanding rapidly and defending against those that sought to crush in its youth. Her fierce devotion to the Empire and the Dark Side garnered the favour of the Darth Carnifex himself. Who bestowed her the Crimson Valkyrie of which she captained until her eventual retirement from the constant warring.
Nowadays, Vaylin has turned her dedication to training new Sith. Focusing specifically on those that were brought before the Valkyries for judgement. Those that were seen fit to either join their ranks or the larger brotherhood within the Empire.
