Blinding Light: While his eyesight can be a boon in the dark, Petrichor struggles seeing when met with bright flashes of light (without his mask).

Heretical Nature: Petrichor’s beliefs have garnered him quite the following, but to many he is seen as a heretic. This has caused him to gain many enemies among the Sith.

Dialed Back: Due to his philosophical principles, Petrichor does not fully embrace the more unstable aspects of the dark side, and therefore does not gain the extra power surge that a less controlled dark side user might have in battle.

APPEARANCE:

Most have not seen the face of Petrichor, but many know him by his iconic white mask. Furthermore, most haven’t seen his skin at all, for he is often covered from head to toe. Petrichor has no use for excessive flair, as can be seen by his mildly stylish, yet practical double-breasted hooded jacket. He wears a zeyd-cloth suit under the jacket as a way to pay respects to Sith tradition. His also wears crosh-hide gloves, boots, as well as a belt made of this material. His pair of lightsabers can be seen hanging from this belt.

PERSONALITY:

He has a calm, yet commanding presence. Often coming across as cold, Petrichor is known to be calculating and logical. He is known for his lack of attachment, as well as his near-emotionless presence. This cold nature often garners either reverence or fear in those who cross his path. He prefers thinking before acting, and has been known to be a phenomenal tactician. He holds self-control in high regard, and often shows distaste for those who cannot reign their emotions in.

BIOGRAPHY:

"Are you aware of petrichor, my apprentice? It is the smell of the rain upon a dry land. So to will Petrichor's wisdom rain down, and breathe new life into the dry minds of the Sith."

-Darth Nebulus, Petrite disciple

Part I: What Is a Name?

A name, a family, a home… all of these memories seem faint to the Umbaran now known only as Darth Petrichor. His life before being taken in by the Sith does not matter, for that individual no longer exists. He had a master as well, once. Many years were spent under his tutelage. Many long, tense years. Alas, the master’s name is also of no importance, for in the end, he too proved to be unworthy of memory. The moment of his death was the moment of birth for Petrichor. As he stared at his fallen master, Petrichor began to question his identity within the Sith. He had fulfilled his master’s wish by defeating him, but to what end? This action earned him the title of Darth, but what does a title truly mean? Unsatisfied with this lack of clarity, Petrichor began his search for answers.

Part II: Into The Unknown

Petrichor’s search for enlightenment took him to all corners of the galaxy. Korriban, Tython, Ruusan, Dathomir… each planet was a step closer to the truth. On his travels, Petrichor uncovered many pieces of forgotten lore, though none gave him the answers that he sought. His travels even took him to Mandalore, where he sought information on the legendary darksaber. His journey yielded no results, but did award him with unforeseen allies. For assisting one of the clans in a dispute, Petrichor was awarded with a special beskar mask. This mask was a symbol of respect from the clan for his prowess on the field of battle. He left the Mandalorians with a newfound mutual respect and a brand new face.

Eventually, Petrichor’s travels took him to the Unknown Regions, where his search eventually ended on Rakata Prime. Here, he studied the ruins of the Rakata, hoping to have finally found the answers he had long searched for. And so they came, like a torrent of revelation upon the mind of the Sith lord. As he gazed upon what was left of the broken Rakata civilization, Petrichor knew… the Sith could not continue as they had all these years.

Part III: Sleepers, Awake!

When Petrichor returned to his Sith brethren, he was not the man they once knew. He began teaching a new form of Sith philosophy; one of patience and even tempers. He no longer used the title of Darth (unless in formal situations), and published a large work titled The Way of Equanimity. This work, which would be later known as the Petrite Doctrine, became one of the most controversial texts among the Sith. Some took his teachings to heart, and began following this new path. Many among the Sith held a high respect for Petrichor, considering him to be an important figure in Sith philosophy.

Despite the progress Petrichor had made within Sith society, a large portion of his brethren believed his teachings to be troublesome at best, and heretical at worst. Petrichor eventually found himself dodging bounty hunters and assassins on a regular basis, and eventually determined that his next course of action would take him away from his fellow Sith. He took his ship and left once again, but with a new mission.

Part IV: A Dark New Hope

Petrichor began roaming the galaxy in search of suitable apprentices, hoping to find a select few to pass his teachings on to. He found many youth who were strong in the Force. Petrichor took these children to Rakata Prime, where he could teach them away from the prying eyes of the Sith. He encouraged his students to seek peace with the darkness within their hearts. He proposed that freedom only came from unshackling yourself from anger and rage, and only kept students who he felt could maintain a high level of control. Through the years, many pupils have failed him, and only a few have succeeded. Those who passed his tests were given the title of master, and sent throughout the galaxy to spread the word of the Petrite Doctrine. Now, Petrichor finds himself returning to the realm of curiosity, wondering where his journeys will take him next…

There can be no freedom without passion.

Through passion, I find strength.
Through strength, I find patience.
Through patience, I find peace.
Through peace, I find freedom.

The Force shall be my tool, my weapon, and my guide.
