SPECIAL FEATURES
- Advanced Tensor Fields work with Graviton collectors to provide propulsion to a vehicle or starship.
- Allows vehicle/ship to move through three dimensional space without being impacted by gravity fields.
- Leaves no traditional particulate trails due to maneuvering exclusively by manipulating gravity.
- Starships or vehicles using this drive system are limited to Low speeds (Can't achieve Average or higher velocities in their hull class.)
- Starships or vehicles using this drive system require longer than normal run-ups to achieve velocity necessary for hyperspace jumps.
- In short, a vehicle using this drive system is unlikely to make a getaway if pursued.
- Gravity sensors will detect the drive while it is in operation, reading it as a small gravitic anomaly. This is true even if the vessel is cloaked.
DDSI's Applied Sciences division developed the Gravity Drive based on their study of gravitic effects near stellar anomalies. It was meant to further facilitate the investigation of high-energy phenomena that also have intense gravity emanations which might place a normal starship at risk. It works by harnessing existing gravitons and redirecting them into a sophisticated Tensor field, granting the vehicle power in proportion to the gravity fields in its vicinity. This allows a vessel to avoid falling into gravity wells. It is perfect for safely maneuvering near magnetars or singularities. Power does not mean speed, however, and operating a vessel with this drive system is like driving a large wheeled vehicle in the first gear. This drive system is incapable of rapid acceleration, and is expensive to construct, making it unsuitable for all but specialty applications.
