OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The DDY-500's main purpose if Surface to Air defense from Capital Ships, although it can be used for extremely long range surface defense as well. The Rods are each about 20x20x40 feet in diameter, making them very capable for destruction. The speed of the rods being fired is from 0 to 600 mph, giving the Cannon its long range on the ground, but when it is aiming at a Capital ship in space, the firing speed quadruples to 2400 mph. This is so then the rod can escape from the Atmosphere and hit the ship in question with no problem. Although 1 of these cannons is enough to cause some decent damage against a Capital ship, adding more than 1 can cause even more damage, being capable of destroying capital ships with a single shot if there were at least half a dozen of them firing at the same target simultaneously.

- Uses Magnetism to launch Duramentium Rods as high velocities.
- The Potential Damage of the cannon at its maximum expectancy is capable of ripping through the hull of Dreadnought class Capital Ships, though its standard damage potential is causing serious damage to a Star Destroyer/Battle Cruiser scaled Capital Ship.
- The weapon can be used as Planetary Artillery (Surface to Surface), though its design is meant for Surface to Air.
- The sheer speed of the rod being launched is capable of punching through most forms of Deflector Shielding on Capital Ships, though the stronger types of shields can be more questionable when it comes to the effectiveness of the weapon.
- The weapon has to calibrate itself before firing, making hitting anything smaller than a Capital Ship nearly impossible.
- An experienced crew on this kind of gun emplacement could reload the cannon in about 5 minutes, though an amateur team would take anywhere between 10 and 20, making it a very poor choice for quick firefights.
- The risks of weapon failure are high, as if something goes wrong with firing the projectile, the projectile could get stuck in the barrel or destroy the barrel of the cannon at best, destroy the cannon completely at worst. This is due to the experimental use of such a large magnetism based firing mechanism for a cannon this large.
