NAME: Desmond Darksword, Codename Deacon
FACTION: Republic Strategic Information Service
RANK: Special Agent
SPECIES: Hapan
AGE: 36
SEX: Male
HEIGHT: 1.8 meters
WEIGHT: 105 kg
EYES: Cybernetic
HAIR: Black (Varies)
SKIN: Pale
FORCE SENSITIVE: Borderline

STRENGTHS
  • Patriot: Fiercely loyal to the government that took him in when his fell to the Sith, Deacon finds fulfillment in a job that others might consider extremely lonely and harsh.
  • Master of Disguise: Through a mixture of enhancements, gadgetry, and good old fashioned tradecraft Deacon is able to alter his facial features radically given enough time to prepare, and has a working knowledge of a variety of accents, dialects, and provincial cultural trivia.
  • Cybernetic Enhancements: Though for the most part discreet, Deacon has had surgeries for a whole suite of artificial enhancements, mostly cognitive although with some adjustments to heighten his reflexes and reaction time.
WEAKNESSES
  • Loose Cannon: Deacon isn't the type of agent who believes in half measures. He is ruthless, and willing to do anything to protect the interests of democracy. Moralism is for the Jedi, and any orders he is given to the contrary he is liable to see more as guidelines.
  • Experimental Side Effects: Some of the tech inside Deacon’s brain is a little too cutting edge, and the enhanced cognitive acuity comes at a cost. Already he has forgotten his childhood memories of Hapes, and he fears there will come a time one day when he no longer remembers what he is fighting for or why.
  • Ghost: Erased from his past life by Hapan Intelligence, his time in the SIS and with the Republic hasn’t exactly proved rife with honest social opportunities. Deacon has hardly spoken a word to anyone outside of his duties and infiltration operations.
APPEARANCE

Capable of pulling off a variety of appearances during the course of his work, Deacon’s default appearance is nonetheless a bit altered than it was growing up. Raven black hair mottled with grey cover a face with hawkish features, and cybernetic eyes betray no truth behind the emotions he displays, ranging from reverential seriousness to the occasional moment of black humor.

BIOGRAPHY

Born to the particularly infamous Darksword family of Hapes, Deacon’s childhood was not a happy one. Still Desmond in those days, he and his brother Nathanos were considered the black sheep of a family that desperately wanted daughters to secure their lineage beyond reproach in such a matriarchal society. Both enduring their own unique hardships, Desmond was desperate to escape to university and came to his schooling deeply dissatisfied with Hapan society.

Recruited in university by the Watchers, a branch of Hapan Intelligence often on the lookout for exceedingly gifted young Hapan men overlooked or discarded by a society still struggling somewhat with gender equality. Moulding his frustrations into an almost pathological need to make things better, his handlers found him to be an exceptional candidate, and was accepted into the program.

Of course, given the high profile of his name and noble blood, measures would have to be taken to limit the Watchers’ vulnerability. So Desmond Darksword’s death was faked, an assassination by a rival family in what were cutthroat enough days for the Royal Court for the scenario to seem quite plausible, though of course unprovable.

And so Desmond was no longer Desmond, but rather a nameless cog in the intelligence community, where he worked for several years and earned as much of a reputation as one can in a career of his nature, until one day the One Sith came. Deeply unsatisfied with the new regime, he first sought to defect but eventually agreed to stay on Hapes to work as a double agent for the Galactic Alliance through the SIS.

Given the codename Deacon by his new handlers for the seemingly reverential care he took to gather as much intelligence as possible and take on even the most dangerous missions under such extreme circumstances, surrounded by One Sith and pretending to serve them, and eventually the name stuck. He was even forced to undergo excruciatingly invasive and highly experimental cybernetic enhancement procedures under the new Sith sponsored Hapan Intelligence, or risk blowing his cover.

After the eventual fall of the tyrannical regime, Deacon finally came in from the cold, and was formally granted dual citizenship with the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. In the time since the war, the purview of the SIS has expanded, but in his gratitude to the Galactic Alliance Deacon’s has not. He operates primarily within and near Alliance space, afforded considerable resources under the Defense Force’s black ops budget.

SHIP

While Deacon’s wide purview over the Alliance means he is often on the move, and often moving from ship to ship. In a pinch, he can requisition anything fairly quickly as long as it is reasonable to the environment and practically procurable. On solo ops, there is a certain Shadow-class Transport he prefers to use, often flying under the transponder Fool’s Mate.
