Dean Letham has served as Commander of Section Zero for years and led Fireteam Black through thick and thin. Although he is no gunslinger, he's a quick thinker. He's a natural strategist who has turned a rag-tag sorry-bunch of green as grass marines into a respectable fighting force. His influence over soldiers morale has kept CNI's psychologists constantly studying his social and battlefield patterns.

Although Dean has proven himself a formidable Jaguar Commando, he was formerly a CST, Commonwealth Shock Trooper for most of his career. He was a fresh kid out of the academy when he signed up for the navy and was enlisted into a shock trooper regiment. The civil war was at its height and Horus was leading a decisive victory against the monarchy. Dean would operate from battlefields across the Cadi System, from Uluru to Pontiac.

It was after the civil war that he was noticed by CNI. He was among the first to be drafted into the Jaguar Program. Given synthetic hormones to promote muscle growth, cybernetic enhancements and a strict diet and workout regime, Dean became much more than a soldier. He was now a Jaguar of the Commonwealth, an elite class of soldier. From there he was placed into Section Zero under the guidance of CNI spooks.

Over the years as more Jaguars were trained, Dean slowly took over the leadership of Section Zero and the Jaguars. Since his promotion to Fireteam Black he has served as personal guard of Lord Admiral Horus, engaged with Black Suns on Iskeria, Sith on Thule, and served in conflicts the galaxy over.
