[+] Wealthy -- thanks to a legacy from her true father's will, Decima enjoys a significant upturn in her financial situation with a nice portion of the Fortan swag.
[+] Resourceful -- despite being a noble from a wealthy family, Decima has had to live on her wits since she was sixteen, and has learned how to make it work with whatever is on hand.
[+] Basic Combat Competency -- between the ages of 16 and 20, Decima served in the Galidraani planetary defense force and learned basic combat skills, i.e. blasters and hand-to-hand combat, but is by no means an expert in either.
[-] Resentful -- Decima carries a chip on her shoulder thanks to the circumstances of her birth and childhood; among common people she is pleasant enough, but among Galidraani nobles, she is something of a pill and has rather an acerbic tongue.
[-] Alcoholic -- drowning one's sorrows came early and often for Decima, who has a taste for clear liquors like gin and vodka, but just about anything will do when night falls. With a slender, toned frame courtesy her four years in the Galidraan planetary security forces, she would not look out of place in a military uniform. With a steady, patrician demeanor, she would not look out of place in a ball gown and jeweled hairpiece. She is a pretty young woman, perhaps bordering on the conventional, with a slightly upturned nose and the slightly down-turned pout that is the trademark of the Fortan family. She has hazel-green eyes, which can look either dark green or brown, depending on ambient lighting and color.
BIOGRAPHY:
From the moment of her conception, Decima's very existence was a matter of scandal and outrage among the upper classes into which she was born. Her birth was the result of an affair between Lord Frejrik Natasi, Earl of Herevan, shortly after the death of his wife Reima Esperell, with Decima's mother, Marina De Vries Strallan. Though people of that social status were never unhappily married, Marina and her husband were unable to spend as much time together as they would wish, and he lived abroad, leaving his wife as chatelaine. Therefore, it was impossible that he should father Decima, though just who had was a secret until it was an open secret. By the time she was able to walk, Decima's fatherhood was obvious by her resemblance to his previous children, Mathes and Natasi.
Bearing his disgrace with as much dignity as he could muster, Strallan returned home and put his name on her birth certificate, but ruled his wife and 'daughter' as a tyrant. Much of his aggravation at being rather publicly cuckolded was taken out on his daughter, who he treated poorly. She managed to obtain a decent education by sharing tutors with her 'legitimate' siblings, but grew increasingly resentful of her home life, until at the age of sixteen, days after her presentation in society, she fled and joined the Galidraani Planetary Security forces. There, she found a happy home at last -- she made friends, she had lovers, she learned marketable skills, but still nurtured a seething hatred for the Strallan side of her family -- and her mother, whose poor behavior was the root of her miserable existence.
When news of Frejrik's death came, Decima petitioned the courts to be included in his bequests as an omitted child and publicly threw off the surname of Strallan, a calculated move designed to take advantage of two benefits of bearing the Fortan name: a slice of the fortune that each of Frejrik's children got, and a connection to one of the most powerful names in the First Order, her half-sister. Unfortunately for Natasi's sheltered upbringing, she had no knowledge of a half-sister eight years her junior, but this will all change as soon as she receives word from her family solicitor.
