- The cards work on a similar basis as grenades, micro grenades, although there are huge differences as well. There is no timer on the cards, they explode after a crash. This requires an impact at a suitable speed. It’s not enough for someone to drop them, a person of average strength must throw them to the ground with full force or throw them at someone and need to make a "crash".
- All the cards are solved with microelectronics, very complex structures, the system is able to distinguish between the force of pressure and the force of impact. So it's pretty safe.
- A deck consists of 52 cards in the following categories:
- Smoke cards: it causes 5-15 metres smoke fog, it stings the eyes and causes sneezing and makes it difficult to see within the range.
- Sand cards: pocket sand, it serves the purpose of "entering" the target's eyes after the explosion, causing a painful, stinging sensation. It causes tears and impairs the vision of the target person, who may not see anything due the sand and tears.
- Flash cards: it causes a light effect after the explosion, which blinds a person who is in the range for a short time. A directed blast of light has an effect of only a distance of about two metres; beyond this it has no effect. It has a similar effect as a flash grenade, only with a shorter duration.
- Stun cards: doing the same as a similar grenade, it may be able to partially or completely paralyze the person to whom the card was thrown for a very short time after the explosion. The effect also depends on size, an average person can stun for about 10 seconds.
- Immediately after the impact, the card explodes and in no case causes damage or pain due to its design.
- Small and Light: Small and light, its size exactly matches the size of an average 52-card deck, and the total deck doesn’t weigh more than half a kg, so it’s not hard for Adrian to take this with him. And that’s why you can easily push cards to someone with telekinesis.
- Pocket Sand: Hidden in a card with different effects, but it's still pocket sand! Cool and snazzy!
- Alchemised Sand: it is so different from regular sand that it causes more eye irritation and later the eye can get inflammation from this.
- Short Range: It is only effective in the short term, not effective from a distance, because after a while it is not possible to reach the target strongly enough with the help of telekinetics. Thus, the range is very limited, and beyond this without the necessary force, the cards will not explode.
- Pocket Sand: Hidden in a card with different effects, but it's still pocket sand! Only good for self-defence.
- Useless: Actually, against anyone who wears a helmet or mask, possibly covers / protects their eyes and face, the whole thing is ineffective. The thick dress weakens the effect of the stun and the armour is able to completely protect the wearer.
Adrian learned quite a few dirty tricks in his life while living in the Netherworld, not in vain did he get the name Uncrowned King of the Pocket Sand in the inns and cantinas of the Masque or Sanctuary. Since he doesn’t like to fight and prefers to avoid fights, it might not be so surprising that he tried to figure something out that could help him escape and also hold back his opponent from fighting.
Since the young man loves to play card games and usually keeps a deck of cards with him, this is where the idea for this came from. Since he couldn’t solve this in the Netherworld, he had to wait until he got back to the Realspace. He had plans, but because he is young and didn’t have much practice in something like that, Hyrsi Moldenson-Rien, the head of Rocksolid, helped complete the plans and implement the cards.
Their production is not complicated or expensive, but it is a sufficiently unique and exotic product, so they always make another deck only if Adrian asks for it all. There are four types of card cards, the size of the cards is fixed, but the images on it can be varied and exchanged at any time.
They do not have a long range, they are effective only against one opponent only and even if the opponent does not defend his face or eyes. So these cards are limited in effectiveness, but if they do, they work great as a Pocket Sand in the hands of the Uncrowned King of the Pocket Sand.
