I'm just gonna say this as nicely as possible; it's not a faction's job to "convince you". This sort of mentality is going to do you significantly more harm than good in the long run. You cannot blame a faction for the failure of a character. Faction's don't kill/fail a character; that's something pretty squarely on you the writer. If something's not working out, then your job is to find out exactly what the problem is. You are not going to immediately be in the center of attention or become a very important person in a faction without significant amounts of work and time spent on the character. Even veteran writers who make new characters rarely if ever join a faction and get immediate high-tiered positions and power.
These things are earned through the stories you tell. Sometimes you have periods where your character is going to be more by themselves and not with a faction. Keep on with your story. Understand that factions don't owe you anything and that your participation in their activities is simply another piece of a larger story being written. If they deign to reward any of your efforts with materials or items, that's their Faction Leader's prerogative. Meanwhile all you should be focused on is writing the best story for your character that you can.
Faction activity is bred by members working together. Faction communication is made by its writers talking to one another. If these things aren't happening, and it's something you're looking for, then perhaps you might try stepping up and being the example. Talk to people and bring them together. Keep at it. The characters who are wildly successful and legendary here didn't get that way overnight. They each had hardships, periods where I know the writers all questioned where the character was really going and if it was worth the effort. And they'll all tell you, the answer is yes.
As a great man once said; "Ask not what your [faction] can do for you - ask what you can do for your [faction]."
