I have seen similar concepts before. A major difference was that the Void itself was an entity that was the antithesis to the Force and sought the destruction of any Force user at any cost to the user of the Void. Void Walkers as they were known, sacrificed their sanity, free will, and all human attachments to be able to wield the power of the Void. They were berserkers in the truest sense of the word focused solely on killing anything connected to the Force, none were safe, from young children to Grandmasters. It was an interesting dynamic to see a character who had once been perfectly sane, devolve as they used the Void.
Also the Void counterparts to Force powers manifested in physical form. So a Force Push style power would seem to be a wave of pure blackness headed towards the target. A blade would be whatever form the user could conjure(the less sanity the more powerful the Walker as they didn't resist the call to hunt and destroy everything). Force Barrier would be akin to a wall of pure darkness, and so on. Eventually all that was left was a recognizable husk devoid of any Force signature as the Void had taken complete control, yet since the Force was the antithesis it could cause great harm to them, or if utilized correctly it would outright kill them.
There were exceptions however, Walkers who while extremely powerful, also maintained a sliver of who they once were. These were the ones who were likely to eventually lose any ability to utilize the Void, but how? The Void was very much a 'Only the strongest survive to corrupt more to the beauty of nothingness, to reveal the Truth that all of existence, all of the Force...is but a lie.' So one who was not trying to destroy or 'free' others and bring them into the fold were seen as weak. Another Walker would then challenge them to a duel to prove their worth of remaining a Walker. Losing meant death most likely, or in the best case, the Void would simply leave you, but in doing so would leave you without a connection to the Force. Not completely severed necessarily, enough to sustain your life, but no more. You would in a sense be a wound in the Force, still able to be effected by any aspect of it, yet unable to call upon it. Unlike most wounds though, this one was too deep to heal. Losing the potential as a Walker and Force user would be devastating to any who went through it, and though the mental trauma may eventually heal, the person would still carry the deaths of all those slaughtered for the Void with them, and would possibly remember nothing of their life before the Void.
On the site where they were well known, I wrote one for a time. One who eventually lost to the 'leader' of the Walkers in a duel, and was left for dead. He survived, but only barely and had flashes of broken memories from his time as both a Walker and fewer of who he had been before. He never was able to recover from what he did as a Walker and never truly recovered his memories. Small flashes, but he was inhuman in that he felt nothing anymore and had almost no real personality because he couldn't remember his former self well enough. A fun character to write for sure but once he hit the emotionless stage there was no drive to write him any longer. What was the point, he would have no reason to do anything. At our core as humans we are driven to do that which brings us fulfillment and happiness. If this is a species that feel nothing a credo that requires one to feel nothing, care about nothing, then what is their motivation to do anything? Forgive me if I come across as insulting asking my question, I don't mean to I am actually quite interested to see the answer as I do find this an interesting idea, even if a bit strange. And sorry for the novella-length post.
