Delivery for Subach-Innes (CIS)

[member="Enigma"] [member="Sasha Santhe"]

A formal letter from Santhe Corporation arrived on the CEO of Subach-Innes' desk.

"Dear Ms. Savan, or in lieu of her absence the current owner of Subach-Innes,

I represent Santhe Corporation. If you have a legal representative please notify the legal representative of this letter immediately.

I am notifying you of the unlawful sale and production of Invictus E-class Star Destroyer, Nexus E-class starfighter, Arcturus E-class gunship, Havoc E-class bomber, Captivitas E-class cruiser, Beelzebul E-class heavy cruiser, Avarice E-class carrier, Deimos E-class picket corvette, Dalek E-class picket carrier, Sentinel E-class picket carrier, Neutralizer-class bomber, as well as the usage of Twin Ion Engine Technology on the TIE Agitator and the TIE Bow Fighter.

These E-class productions are copies of patents exclusive to Santhe Corporation.

Accordingly, you are hereby directed to cease and desist all patent infringement.

Santhe Corporation is the owner of the patents under the Confederacy of Independent Systems law. Under statute 19c 405, the penalties for patent infringement of starship technology range between 300,000 to 3,000,000 credits per work at the discretion of the court, not including further damages for willful violation.

If you do not comply to the cease and desist within ten days we will be using your failure to comply as evidence of willful infringement and be entitled to seek monetary damages.

Accordingly, please sign the agreement to stop production and sale of the aforementioned within ten days.

Sincerely,
Gabriel Beau, Attorney-at-Law"

A formal letter arrived to the desk of the Seinar representative who originally sent the notice to Subach-Innes' desk.

To Mr. Gabriel Beau,

Greetings, Mr. Beau. I am Ms. Savan, the one you were looking to contact with regards to this threat of litigation. Rest assured that my legal representative has indeed been contacted regarding this situation.

Firstly, let me assuage your fears that Subach is producing new ships based off of Santhe's old designs. It is not. All the vessels of the aformentioned types in your inventory, sans the Neutralizer II, the Agitator, and the Bow, were purchased from the Sith Empire prior to its destruction. At the time, the vessels had been stripped of all usable components, including major and minor systems, engines, shield generators, and all Seinar technology. What remained was a frame. We merely fitted the frame with systems, weapons, and engines to return the vessels back into operable service. Once all are sold, Subach will no longer be selling any of the E-class ship due to a lack of hulls to convert.

Regarding the last three - the original patents for Twin Ion Engine technology were issued in 22BBY. Considering that this was well over eight hundred and fifty years ago, those patents have long since expired. While your current and latest Twin Ion Engine designs are indeed patented by the Confederacy - version 42, if I recall correctly - the patents for prior developments made during and before the Gulag plague are free for the Public's use. Version 29 was the variant that we took inspiration from for our own TIE engine, and were you to examine our specifications, it is visibly different in design from your own. Should you request that both TIE engine blueprints be examined by a fair and unbiased CIS-based third-party source, I will gladly agree to such.

As well, the spaceframe of the Neutralizer has long since had its patent expire, but as a gesture of goodwill, and considering that it is inferior to other designs Subach manufactures, being solely made for the New Order, we will cease production of the Neutralizer II. However, as the Bow is based off of a Jedi Civil War-era starfighter and the Agitator is an indigenous design(though both retain TIE aesthetics per the New Order's request), Subach will not be ceasing production of these vessels any time soon.

Under the Customized Starship Act, a company incurs no penalty, financial or otherwise, for legally purchasing spaceframes, refitting them with new technology, and selling them for a profit. While the act was predominantly conceived to protect custom starfighter manufacturers, many of whom have made relatively significant profits selling gutted and refitted Seinar ships the same as us, it applies to all.

Should you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me. I would be glad to further discuss the situation to benefit the CIS.

Best Regards,
Circe Savan, Subach CEO

Due to a clerical error, Seinar Industries had to forward the letter to Sienar Fleet Systems before it finally arrived on the desk of Santhe Corporation's In-House-Counsel.

Gabriel sat at his desk busily typing the reply.

"Hello, Miss Savan,

There is no Confederacy of Independent Systems legal document known as the Customized Starship Act. I'd ask for you to recant your statement or else face further charges of falsifying information and aggravating the charges of willful patent infringement.

The patents have been renewed since the Gulag Plague and are currently in possession of Santhe Corporation, which was in existence under the ownership of Sasha Santhe before Subach-Innes came about. As such, Santhe still retains patents of the TIE engine. Aesthetic difference has no bearing as the actual propulsion systems and technology are those of Twin Ion Engines."

He took a break to massage his temples. "This woman," he sighed. "Just because you spray paint it a different color does not mean you get to call it a new and ingenious design. " With another deep sigh he resumed typing.

"Furthermore, although you may have purchased the ships you did not purchase the designs to them nor the patents. You are free to modify the old purchased starships. However, the manufacture and production of E-series ships is illegal. Modifications of the old designs is legal, but your business production listings show that these items are 'mass-produced' rather than limited in quantity. As you bought a limited number from Sienar Fleet Systems the production of such items would be listed as limited. However, it is listed as mass-produced. Thus, rather than modifying old ships the data from your factories shows that your are producing new starships which are based on old designs, these designs are patented and belong to Santhe Corporation. Therefore it is patent infringement.

You will cease and desist production of the aforementioned items immediately or you will face litigation. I expect a reply by tomorrow.

Sincerely
Gabriel Beau."

Beau finished typing up the reply and sent it off to the CEO of Subach-Innes.

[member="Enigma"]

As Miss Circe Savan, aka [member="Enigma"], had failed to show Gabriel proceeded to file a subpoena for her to appear in a CIS court the following day. He also filed an injunction to the head of CIS trade affairs and Techno Union, [member="Marek Starchaser"], to prevent Subach-Innes from selling any further products to the CIS until the legal suit was settled.

Beau himself delivered the subpoena.

He walked straight into Subach-Innes headquarters, as nonchalant and calm as if on an evening stroll at the beach. He wore a muted grey suit with a black tie and a white button down. It seemed appropriate. In one hand he carried a briefcase. In the other he held the subpoena. The cool-eyed Zelosian strolled leisurely into the CEO's office and dropped the subpoena on the desk.

"You've been served."

He turned on his heel and strode out.

And where were the spiders
To say he was waiting on this injunction was a bit of an understatement. Marek Starchaser, the Foreman and head of the Techno Union, the Confederacy of Independent System's business, trade and development department knew that the situation between Santhe Corp and Subach-Innes would find his desk shortly. When it finally did, Marek nodded. He recognized the name [member="Gabriel Beau"] from some gathering or another and pulled out a piece of flimsi. Normally he would have Alana take some diction for something similar to this, but right now? No, he was going to do this one himself.

Looking at the piece he began to write, a few scratch marks, cross outs and word choice changes later, he began typing it up into his terminal before sending it off to the Public Relations department for review. Once it was there, he knew that one of the interns would forward it on and put it through the appropriate channels. This message was marked with the highest urgency.

To all Techno Union and Confederacy of Independent Systems purchasers and staff;

Due to the situation between Santhe Corp and Subach-Innes that is currently ongoing in our court system, we have been asked for our stance. It is the official stance of the Techno Union that until this matter is resolved, there will be an embargo on Subach-Innes. The Techno Union does have a long and outstanding relationship with Santhe, and will continue to support one of our partner companies in the current situation. As no Subach-Innes contracts have been officially listed with the Techno Union, this should not be a problem. Before making any further purchases for your department, we request that you contact the Techno Union for a list of approved contractors and partner companies to the Confederacy of Independent Systems regarding your product needs.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Marek Starchaser
Foreman of the Techno Union

Was he going to need to send the Techno Union Security Force, which was still growing, into the fray on this? He really hoped not.

Gabriel waited in the Confederacy of Independent Systems Trade Court, briefcase in hand, one finger tapping restlessly.

"Where is Savan?" He muttered. People didn't just miss court dates. There were huge fines. It was also a great way to make the judge hate you, but maybe this Circe woman just didn't care. And to think, she'd been a distant relative of the Zelosian species once. Disgusting. He'd never share a glass of sugar-water with her genocidal likes. Well, maybe one. He did love sugar-water.

The green-eyed attorney checked his chrono and chewed on his cheek.

A clarification had to be made on a particular outstanding issue. Subach-Innes’ position in the Fringe Confederation, strictly legally speaking the company had never really been restricted from selling their products in Fringe Space. Mostly because Circe Savan had been assumed dead, and the Subach CEO Woman had never acted against Confederation Interests.

Of course, the situation changed once high-ranking individuals in the Confederation were made aware of Circe’s continued existence in the Galaxy, and quickly made sure to rectify the situation. Not that it was really necessary, but still.

An official statement would be released and read as followed.

‘In line with the recent revelations of Subach-Innes ownership and leadership roles, we have decided to reaffirm our strict stance against the terrorist and criminal Circe Savant or any other name she chooses to go by. The Fringe Confederation hereby distances itself from her persona and the company that is associated with her. Products manufactured by Subach-Innes will be seized at discovery in our ports and factories will be closed down. It is our hope that justice will be served, thank you.’

Not that it really mattered much, nobody in the Confederation bought Subach products anymore these days. Silly people.

And so Circe showed up. In her Vinithi body, no less. Why? Well, it probably had to do with the fact that she didn't want anyone to know that her current appearance was an Echani. Or perhaps she wanted to confuse everyone. Either way, she was here now, and it was time for the lawsuit to begin. Taking her seat at the defense post, or wherever it was the defense stood or sat at in the courtroom.

And here I was going to offer Sienar a settlement. Unfortunate. Still, this embargo is going to end once the trial is over. That's what matters.

[member="Marek Starchaser"] [member="Gabriel Beau"]

Gabriel smiled politely at Miss Savan as she entered. The original Savan, it appeared. So then who was that Echani woman heading up Subach's affairs? What an enigma.

He seated himself at his table, with a seat open for his client [member="Sasha Santhe"] should she want to be present. Then he waited for the trade judge, [member="Marek Starchaser"], to appear with a cliche "all rise."

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
{Right Fixed}

Marek Starchaser was the trade judge, apparently. He had [member="Salem Norongachi"] to thank for that. Right, that was just going to make this whole day so much better. He entered the courtroom in the sharpest suit he could find. Of course it was gray on black, but that was fine with him. The black on white seemed to be... more formal, or more for when you were trying for something. Here he was just doing a job. He was flanked by Alana Flag, who was, as always, being his bodyguard. It was nice, she had his back, especially what happened to Salem that, even if it didn't stick.

He looked about the court room as everyone rose to their feet. Right, this was definitely not something he could solve by rule of the gun, and that bothered him. He saw the two delegates, [member="Gabriel Beau"] for [member="Sasha Santhe"] and her corporation, and... some green... thing, for Subach-Innes, he presumed.

"You may be seated." He said, awkwardly as he took his bench. "It looks like we're here today for a business dispute between Santhe Corporation and Subach-Innes, would each delegate please identify yourselves for the record, and state your opening argument. We'll start with the rep from Santhe, as they subpoenaed Subach."

He was going to get shot today. Or get allergies.

Probably both.

[member="Enigma"]

Beau rose smoothly, buttoning his suit jacket in the process.

"Your Honor, as you know I am Counsel Beau representing the Santhe Corporation in today's dispute, a tale of abuse of power and blatant, unabashed infringement of my client's intellectual property.

Let us first examine the primary offense of patent infringement."

Beau picked up a docket of papers and stepped toward [member="Marek Starchaser"], depositing it on his desk, also known as the bench.

"These papers contain documentation of a variety of craft produced by Subach-Innes Corporation known as E-class."

The document listed out all the various craft. The Invictus E-class Star Destroyer, Nexus E-class starfighter, Arcturus E-class gunship, Havoc E-class bomber, Captivitas E-class cruiser, Beelzebul E-class heavy cruiser, the Avarice E-class carrier, the Deimos E-class picket corvette, the Dalek E-class picket carrier, and the Neutralizer-class bomber.

"Without exception these warcraft were originally produced by Sienar and Santhe. The Defense will tell you that her company bought a series of these ships legally from the Sith Empire and will no doubt cite the First Sale Doctrine. However, I would have you note, your Honor, that Miss Savan was herself a high ranking official in the now defunct Sith Empire at the time and that it was she who took Sith Imperial warships and sold them to her own company.

If she had merely taken those vessels which she purchased, refitted them, and then sold them again for a profit that would have been acceptable. This was not the case."

He turned and pointed a finger at Circe.

"Subach-Innes not only took those vessels and sold them, it also started entire new production lines and began producing new E-class vessels of Sienar and Santhe designs. The Defense will no doubt protest that this is untrue, however you have in those papers clear documentation that the E-class vessels are mass produced. If Subach-Innes had merely been selling the ships originally purchased they would have been limited in quantity. Instead, we see Subach-Innes factories producing 'new and improved' versions of technology owned by Sienar and Santhe. My client did not sell Subach-Innes the patents to those vessels and thus the manufacture of these entirely new E-series vessels is illegitimate.

In addition, the TIE Agitator and TIE Bow fighter are both produced by Subach-Innes corporation in direct defiance of the patent on Twin Ion Engines held by Santhe and Sienar corporations. The Defense will no doubt say that these patents have expired. However, they were renewed after the end of the Gulag Plague and should last,"

Gabriel checked his watch,

"Another one thousand and forty four years.

When notified of this by my client I immediately contacted the CEO of Subach-Innes with a cease and desist letter. Miss Savan rejected the letter and falsified a legal law of the Confederacy which she called the Customized Starship Act. As you are aware, no such law exists. Such action we believe constitutes malicious intent. Furthermore, we have this document,"

He picked up a paper with a holonet entry and carried it over to the bench.

"contains libelous defamation of my client.

The number of stolen ships produced by Subach-Innes is enormous and the loss of profit for Santhe due to these rip offs is egregious. Due to the severe strain put on Sienar and Santhe because of the malicious intellectual property theft by Subach-Innes, we are seeking recompense for the cost of the units produced and punitive damages in the excess of one hundred billion."

And where were the spiders
Marek really wasn’t looking forward to being here. He was actually trying to think of anything else than where he was. It wasn’t in any part of his job description when he signed up, last he checked. Must be the fine print. And whoever came up with that concept should probably be pushed out the airlock.

He’d do it personally, actually.

Still, he was listening to [member="Gabriel Beau"]. And taking mental notes. The First-Sale Doctrine, and the use of TIE technology by Subach-Innes. That made this fun, and tricky. Nodding at the prosecution lawyer, he was paying attention, believe that or not.

Turning to the defense, @Engima, he nodded. “Opening statement from the representative for Subach-Innes, you have the floor.”

In Umbris Potestas Est
[member="Marek Starchaser"] [member="Gabriel Beau"]

Nodding, gracefully standing up from her seated position, the Vinithi woman smiled as she eyed the jury.

"Your Honor, my name is Circe Savan. CEO of Subach-Innes and the legal representative for the purposes of this case. I am here to defend my company from the falsely-based accusations of Sienar, who likely, against the benefit of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, seek to maintain a nigh-monopoly on the CIS's business connections outside of its own nationalized industries. I have brought evidence to support my refutation of the Sienar lawyer's claims, physical and digital, and will now showcase it."

Eying the list of papers, as showcased to the courtroom, she smiled. "The list of papers Mr. Beau claims to be a production list from Subach is in fact a portion of our catalog. Were those legitimate lists of currently produced ships at my company's factories, I would ask how he acquired them, as short of hacking our databases or bribing our employees - both illegal actions in themselves - our production lists remain company property. However, for the purposes of this trial, a database of ships produced by Subach-Innes - that is, frame and everything - has been sent to your datapad."

"While I indeed was at the time a Lord within the Sith Empire, I could not have purchased the ships without the Emperor's express permission. Being transmitted to your datapad now are the receipts of sale for the ships, one receipt per class. These receipts were authorized by the Emperor, as you can see."

"The Sienar representative states that the E-class ships are being produced at Subach factories. To that, I give you the production lists from our factories over the time between Subach's initial purchase of the hulks and the present day. As you can see, no new E-class ships have been produced. Mr. Beau's assumption that the company produces new ships seems to be a misunderstanding - as every example ever sold to the Sith Empire was listed as 'mass-produced,' the E-class ships, being of an equal number, were also listed as 'mass-produced,' since there were tremendous numbers of them. Should you like for us to change the listing to 'limited,' I will do so gladly and graciously."

"The TIE Agitator and TIE Bow both utilize a Twin Ion Engine setup, but the engine design is based upon long expired patents, which were as well heavily modified by Subach engineers. Intergalactic patent law, as written during the peaceful tenure of the Galactic Alliance and Fel Empire, states that the term of patent will last twenty years after the earliest filing date. According to historical data, It was the year 22BBY when Raith Sienar, the patriarch of what is now Santhe/Sienar, first patented the SIE-TIE Twin Ion Engine, seven years after his development of the Advanced Project Ship in 29BBY. Per this, the patents for the Twin Ion Engine expired in 2BBY. Even if a newer version of the file was patented with the formation of the Galactic Alliance in 28ABY - doubtful, as there are no records of such occurring - the patents still would have expired in 48ABY, well before the Gulag plague struck. One could question if Sienar was truly the first to design such a system as well, as surviving examples of the fighters built by the Star Forge during the Jedi Civil War clearly have twin ion engine systems. Regardless, I assume Mr. Beau's comment of the Sienar patents lasting 'another one thousand and forty four years' is to be taken in jest. If he is to claim that the Agitator and Bow are clones of the TIEs, that would be incorrect - while they appear similar to Sienar TIEs, they are not identical. Their style was intentionally TIE-esque at the request of their original purchaser, the New Order."

She sighed. "But it seems that one cannot take anything in jest. My statement regarding the 'Customized Starship Act' was in response to Mr. Beau's own claims that Subach was breaking 'statute 19c 405' of Confederate law. Your Honor, my lawyers and I have pored through all data regarding the laws of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and we have found zero evidence that the statute Mr. Beau references exists. There is no data regarding such a statute or any similar statutes in the laws of the Republic, of the Omega Protectorate, or in the books of any galactic power, currently existing or otherwise. My comment was, again, to be taken in jest on how Mr. Beau was attempting to bring forth a lawsuit based upon a legal statute that is purely fictitious."

"I would hardly consider a posting of mine on a blog to be considered 'libelous defamation' of Sienar. The corporation is large, and it is hardly difficult for one to see how the actions of Sienar regarding this lawsuit have been intended to further solidify their control of a significant amount of business with the Confederacy's corporate and military sectors, whilst chiseling away at a potential opponent despite said 'rival' company already having less business and being smaller than said 'rival.' This is what I would consider a "SLAPP" suit - a lawsuit with little solid legal basis designed solely to intimidate or monetarily burden the defendant with legal costs over the eventual fallout of the trial. The embargo request in particular, being worded to last solely until the end of this lawsuit, blatantly benefits Sienar by allowing their sales to proceed during this time period, whilst preventing Subach from making even an attempt to work on gaining contracts with not only the Confederacy itself, but with its varying businesses. A premier example of monetary burdening."

She paused. "As such, I am requesting that this lawsuit be dismissed. I will not file charges against Sienar, and will even scrap all unsold E-class ships if desired by the plaintiff, assuming that the lawsuit is terminated or judged in Subach's favor."

"Objection." Gabriel didn't even bother rising this time.

Obviously this wasn't a witness on trial, but Gabriel felt unapologetic about his improper use of objections. If it was indeed improper use. This was a fictitious universe after all. Who knew what the standard legal procedures were?

Once Marek nodded for a rebuttal, Gabriel launched into a point by point refutation.

"On the case of E-class ships, Subach should have changed their production to limited for E-class long before this. But they did not. We believe it to be because they are producing new lines.

On the Twin Ion Engine patent, the defending counsel is quite simply incorrect. Santhe and Sienar renewed the patents when they produced the first TIE after the Gulag Plague and 400 years of darkness, during the rise of Moridin's Empire, which was prior to Subach-Innes existence. As such, we still own the patent. TIE-esque still purposefully incorporates the design of the TIE.

If we want to look at legal precedent all we have to do is look at the case of Fruitpod vs SungSam, where SungSam deliberately copied the aesthetic design of Fruitpod's Mepad in order to evoke the same look and feel. Fruitpod won. 1.05 billion in damages.

On Statute 19c 405, I'd suggest her lawyers look a little harder. It is simply listing the standard amount of damages paid in comparison in cases of patent infringements. It has nothing to do with the legal foundation of this case.

As for the 'embargo' aka injunction, that is simply how injunctions work. You know that judge, as do I. Subach-Innes has been siphoning off legitimate business from Santhe Corporation with their E-Class and TIEs. We just want that to stop until we can get this sorted out."

He smiled congenially.

And so, with Gabriel Beau's finishing of his response, it was time for Circe's own.

Gabriel Beau said:
"Objection," Gabriel said, standing briefly, "Lack of foundation."
"Sienar is a multi-trillion credit corporation. Subach in contrast, even pre-Weedkiller, was nowhere near as large - and certainly not as involved with the Confederacy business-wise. With Baktoid's crippling post-Druckenwell, and the national industries of the Confederacy having difficulty to compensate, Sienar is poised to make significant profits - assuming no one else takes some of the contracts. While speculation, the dots are like constellations - they form a picture when connected."

Gabriel Beau said:
"Objection," he said again, standing and growing a little irritable, "Speculative."
"Subach production lists for each factory are stored on the mainframe. They are only to be accessed by corporate staff or by the plant managers. If what you claim to be a production list is not, as indicated prior, a catalog, then that leaves two options as to how you acquired it, both of which are illegal under Confederate law. Had you requested I submit our production lists for your examination, in order to showcase that we are, again, not building brand-new ships based off your company's designs."

Gabriel Beau said:
"Objection." Gabriel didn't even bother rising this time.
"Considering that your company felt a lawsuit was in order, instead of requesting simply for a representative to visit our manufacturing lines and verify that no new E-class ships are being produced, I find it difficult to believe that Sienar has little or nothing to gain from victory in this lawsuit."

Gabriel Beau said:
"On the case of E-class ships, Subach should have changed their production to limited for E-class long before this. But they did not. We believe it to be because they are producing new lines.
"Again, if you desire that we do so, I and the other board members have no issues whatsoever. As showcased through the evidence I have presented to the court, we are not manufacturing new E-class ships."

Gabriel Beau said:

"I believe Mr. Beau has misunderstood how patents work. The term of patent is between all galactic factions a standard twenty years from filing date. The filing of the patents for the SIE-TIE design being made in 22BBY. During the twenty years they held onto the patent, Sienar paid maintenance fees to keep said patent in force. The two sources I found regarding their payment varied. One indicated their fee payment was every four years, while one indicated their fee payment started at 3.5 years, then at 7.5 and 11.5 years. Regardless, In 2BBY, the patent for the SIE-TIE engine expired. As you know, Your Honor, once a patent has expired, it cannot be renewed. With the patent's expiration, the engine design was in the public domain. However, since Sienar was practically the sole company providing fightercraft to the Empire at the time, it is explainable for their being the only company to actively use twin ion drive technology in their fighters and starships."

Gabriel Beau said:
If we want to look at legal precedent all we have to do is look at the case of Fruitpod vs SungSam, where SungSam deliberately copied the aesthetic design of Fruitpod's Mepad in order to evoke the same look and feel. Fruitpod won. 1.05 billion in damages.
Circe paused, checking with her datapad and searching for any evidence of the case aforementioned by the Sienar lawyer. "Your Honor, while you likely know galactic court cases better than I, I have just checked whether the case Mr. Beau has referenced was true or not. It is not. I also do not recollect either of those companies existing, though I know the FruitPod is a nutritional supplement, SungSam is a religious organization, and the MePad is a novelty notebook." she reached into her purse, pulling one such notebook out. It looked like a datapad, but it was a notebook.

Gabriel Beau said:

"Subach's lawyers have looked hard enough at Confederate law to know that there is no Statute 19c 405."

Gabriel Beau said:

"If you would like our sales list for said ships, I will be glad to provide those. Sales of the E-Class have, from what I recollect, consisted solely of several Invictus-Es, sold to the Sith Empire as training ships. Our business regarding the TIE Agitator and TIE Bow was solely with the New Order. With their demise, we have yet to receive new requests for orders from any business, organization, or planetary/galactic government."

With both arguments and rebuttals made, she now awaited [member="Marek Starchaser"]'s judgement of the legal case. Inside, she questioned whether Mr. Beau's falsifying of legal statutes and court cases would be responded to by the judge.

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
He understood everything that was riding on this court case. Marek understood the way business worked and for anyone to state differently was foolhearty. He had his company, Haor Chall, and the failed mining company he started. If anything were to happen to the patents of them, he would be doing his damnedest to ensure that they were safe. That being said, he had several advisors on the board of the company to ensure that he never knowingly or unknowingly stepped on the toes of other companies.

And that was where he felt there was some thing missing in Subach. He was going to need to take a few moments to go over this. “I appreciate both of you working hard on this case. I would like to take a short recess, while I review the laws of the Confederacy and the galaxy we all live in. Court will adjourn in one hour.”

From there he could escape the system, and call in guards to take everyone hostage and erase their memories making them slaves for the galaxy. Or he could find someone to entech them all.

Of course he couldn’t do that. But the Foreman did excuse himself from the court and went to a back room. There was a monitored terminal and cameras in this room. It was swept from all bugs and visitors, the only way in and out were back into the court room. The terminal was linked securely into the Confederacy’s law archives. For the next hour, he spent the time reviewing all the pieces that [member="Gabriel Beau"] and Circe Savan, whom he was familiar with, in that he assisted the Confederacy in shutting them down on Charros IV during Operation: Weedkiller, which he figured already had blocked Subach from dealings in the Confederacy, but with government change… Whatever. Still, he was able to find the statues. And the case was looking clear cut.

Santhe had a patent. Subach was infringing on that patent.

This wasn’t really what he wanted to do. He had no idea how the defendant was going to respond to the decision, and he really was hoping that Darkwater was on their game today. When he was called back into the courtroom, he took his seat and called for order and silence.

Really, just because he could. If people didn’t want to listen, that was fine, this would get recorded, anyhow.

“Upon review of the statues and the case, this is a clear cut case of the design and patent infringement. Reviewing the statues, the designs and products used, it is clear that Santhe Corporation has patents on the designs and equipment placed in the E-series in infringement. As this is a corporation issue, Subach is unable to replicate and distribute the E-Series without consent from Santhe. As a result I am awarding Santhe with unit cost for the aforementioned TIE and E-Series products plus twenty percent for Santhe from loss of sales. In addition, I am awarding Santhe with an additional one hundred percent unit cost out of two hundred percent for punitive damages, as I rule that there was malicious intent to infringe upon Santhe. Finally, all production of the vessels in question is to cease and any current vessels must be disassembled. Court adjourned, have a nice day.” Marek dropped the mic banged the gavel and rose from his seat.
