Demo demons dev thread

Location: tatoowine

James stood by watching the dozens of applications file by. Justice shipping's job fair was going incredibly well. The computer terminals were busy with each being who was looking for a new job and a better life. There were many jobs to apply for and this fair was only one of many that they had begun to start across the galaxy. James could live with that. He only wanted to make the galaxy a better place. This was just the start as well.

James tapped his data pad as the many applicants were filling out their forms. Yes the job for the new demo demons were coming along as well as he hoped.

One of the droids brought him a complementary drink, the same that the applicants were served. It was decent but he has better. For these poor people it would be the best they ever had.

OOC: Echo is still confused and scared of recent events that had happened and though helping [member="James Justice"] create a elite demolition team for the company would take other things off her mind.

As of lately she had been contacted by james about training for new recruits and building them into Elite demolition team and it excited her. She loved technology used to demolish things her being one. As the medical corps dropships dropped out of hyperspace and started their decent towards the recruitment building. Each dropship was crammed with explosives for the recruits. When they were in range of eye sight of the building the recruitment center. Echo grabbed her backpack off the floor strapping it on tight over her white cloak. Echo loved her new cloths she bought with the company's money and she was intending to use it.. but not today. Once they were low enough the ships door flung open as they were above the landing pads allowing her to jump off before they got over their pad. Falling from the ship her cloak looked even more beautiful. As she hit the ground echo kept her standing posture. As the ships had landed they started to unload items she thought could help with training bringing them into the building and stacking them against the walls as high as they could go before Setting them outside. Echo watched for about nine minutes before she thought it would be a good idea to go find james.

James had found his way onto the training grounds that had been hastily but securely set up. He had spent the last four hours weeding through applications, paperwork and--an assortment of other verifiable crap dealing with recruitment. These, according to the computer's analysis, were the most likely candidates for the job.

He looked and saw Echo Emerald on the landing platform but was too tired--and drunk--to have a coherent conversation at the moment. Instead he shuffled into the room that had been set up as his own and closed the door, colapsing on the cot without undressing and falling into a deep sleep. He already hated this job.....

THREE WEEKS LATER. ((BECAUSE WE HAVE A LOT OF GROUND TO COVER))

His gut feeling had been right. The troops who had survived the initial training of heavy physical labor were here, standing before him. The numbers had been reduced to a tenth of the thousands it had been. But that was good, they only needed the best here. Only those who could both fulfill the need of the soldier and the need of the demolitions expert would be able to fill the role of the demo demons.

He looked over the beings, standing in neat rows, like soldiers. They had undergone a set of flash-training involving a myriad of explosives in how they worked theoretically. Now it was time to test some of those things. And by some of those things, he meant landmines.

"Boys," he said waving his hand to the sand dunes behind him, "This be the land. Bitter and pitted with Land mines. Ye brothers need to get through there. Ye have been told how to defuse them. Well, get ye sorry arses out there and get to work. Echo will be directing you."

He waved it along. Were the mines real? no. Did they need to know that? Nope. And there was no real need to press through. Did they know that? No. Did they need to? nope.

James sat back and enjoyed his cigarette in the shade, watching on amused.

Echo stepped forward as james set back and watched what was left of the new recruits. Clapping her hands together and saying. "Alright this field is twenty eight clicks out you defuse each and ever mine in front in your path and Obviously live and go onto being the best demolitions team under Mr. James command. But! if you fail to defuse a mine." She clicked a little remote detonating a active mine. "You will mostly likely be sent home in more then four pieces." She then signaled her troops to take place with stun sniper for when one of them failed. Before she started them she had sent down a dummy on a stretcher one for each team to put more pressure on them.

"Make it with the "Injured" soldier through the whole field you will be given a "insensitive"." Echo then took out a gun shooting in the air signaling them to start. Echo watched as the demolitions teams started in a hurry. Then turning and siting next to james keeping her hand on the control panel. "You really haven't talked to me the past few weeks whats wrong?"

In the distance you could hear a sniper firing and see were it hand landed as it's impact sending the area everywhere. Her tactics were learned by a person he hated but they were good ones as they could see from before but she's about the last thing she wanted to bring up with him lately.

James bit back his initial thoughts. Unfortunately for her, he was sober right now and that meant bitter. She had a modicum of an idea of what he had been through, but no idea how severe it had been lately.

"What's wrong?" he retorted flicking the butt of his cigarette away. The bitterness oozed out into his next statements, "In the last few months my world has fallen apart. Ye mistress," he said the word like it was a curse, "went off and made me loose part of me fleet. My best friend and brother went missing, not to be found. I been--" he stopped himself. He wasn't about to talk about being tortured. Not here, not now. "Looking for him like nothing else mattered.

"I lost the most important and best woman that I have ever met since," he stopped himself again. Ah, he almost said her name, no, he refused to even think it, "since a long time." he shook his head, "on the upside I learned that I have two daughters. One of 'em saw her mum gunned down right in front of her. What do ye think is wrong?"

He shook his head walking off. He was in the seventh level of hell, and honestly the last thing he wanted was to be training soldiers. He wanted to be drunk, dead drunk letting the pain wash away like a log in the ocean. The spacer found himself in one of the speeders, grabbing a bottle of lukewarm moonshine. He spat the cork across the dune and began guzzling the drink down. He didn't care, he wanted to be drunk, that was all. He wanted to forget, to lose himself in the sweet, blissful nothingness of drunkenness........

THE NEXT DAY.

James rose from his bunk, his hand reached out first not to the alarm clock but to the bottle of ale by his bedstand. Propping himself up, James tossed the half-empty bottle's cap across the room and finished it off. Nothing like more alcohol to fight off the hangover. After guzzling the bottle he hurled it angrily across the room, shattering it on the wall before getting out and getting dressed. A beard was beginning to form itself on his cheeks. He hadn't shaved in weeks. He didn't care to. No one here would notice or care.

Tossing his leather jacket on, James moved out into the rising twin suns. The soldiers were here already, ready for their next portion of training. At this point James didn't even care. He could have gunned everyone of them down in cold blood right now and not felt any worse than he already did. Instead he pointed to the speeders behind them. There were several. Enough for them to get into their squads and each one to work on them.

"See those pieces of shit, ye bastards?" he shouted in his hoarse voice, "rig them with bombs. Then swap, check them each out for each other, and disarm each other's. If I am lucky ye will blow each other to hell. If I am not, ye all will be around when this is over. I want ye all to die, personally. So, until then, get ye asses out of my face and get along. Dismissed."

He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and lit up, watching without a care as they got to work. His eyes were narrow in a bitter scowl. Yes, they could all die for all he cared.

Every word james spoke had started to break down her walls she wanted to get closer to him. Make sure he knows she was their for him no mater what happened. Just like rose. When he was done talking it just left her speech less. She wanted to speak but couldn't she just sat back watching the teams finish with the mines and reached the end.

Echo stood up and spoke into her comms. "Good job none of you idiots blow your self's up. Now go to the Fitness room and work on you endurance for three hours straight no breaks!" She then walked back into the building so she wouldn't have to talk to james or else he could figure out she has been doing thing she wasn't suppose to do.

Next day:

She had over slept and rushed everything she usually does then ran down the halls using her android body to go at incredible speeds. Once she got to the door to out side she stopped and but on her cloak her walked out casually hearing james speak to the soldiers. Once he finished talking her said " And as a little treat for you all if one of you mess up there are two plague bombs in them and will detonate when there is failure. So have fun!" Echo walked up next to james as he light his cigarette. "Sorry about leaving in such a hurry yesterday." While watching the teams to run towards their marks.

James watched with a bitter look as his future soldiers went to work. He let a puff of smoke and shrugged at her apology and said the truth, "I dun't care."

He could feel the burning sun beating down. It was harsh, bitter, and cruel. But it was nowhere near as bad as the brutality of his heart. He scowled and flicked ashes off his light a moment. They were each working their arses off in the sun, trying to be something, to become someone they were not. An aspiration to greatness.

"They are fools," he spat bitterly. "Every one of them. They be wanting to make the galaxy a better place, they be wrong. Ye can't fix it. The galaxy is broken. Forever, always. I used to be so stupid I thought it could be fixed, but it can't. All we have is foolishness, brokenness and hurt." he shook his head, "the galaxy wants to burn. It really be wanting that. All we can do is try and save a few people in the middle, but really even then it will be hurting them too in the process."

James shook his head, watching the remainder of the exercise in silence. For a few hours he saw it take place as they wired the speeders to blow, then each swapped and disarmed the other. James nodded, half satisified, half not, "Feth, they made it." Raising his voice, "Alright, dumbarses, front and center, now."

He waited a few precious moments as his troops filed in front of him, the spacer looked at them all with a combination of disgust and hope. The spacer snapped his fingers and worker droids began ferrying the various supplies needed to make a wide array of IEDs and makeshift bombs, 'Aright, ye sorry sons of Biths, get to work."

THE NEXT DAY.

James hated his life. The sentiment ran through his head as he watched the demo demons first class doing their weapon drills. Into armor. Out of armor. Into armor. Out of armor. Into armor. Out of armor. Check the rifles. Empty, break down. Check again, faster. Break down faster. Into armor. Out of armor. A few Sargents moved along the lines, giving orders, barking their truths. These recruits had been given all the book learning they could before coming here. For the past three hours James had stood watching them do their endless drills. Now it was time to move on.

"Alright, you sons of Biths, I got a bit of a surprise for you," Jame shouted. "In case ye ain't noticed in this sandbox world, water is hard to come by. But we got whole tub for ye," he said motioning to the tent behind him, "10,000 gallons of water in a big ol' vat. Don't you dare go soiling my water. But what we got for ye is none other than water mines. That's right you sons of biths, your gonna go and defuse them. Now get ye fething arses to work. Now!"

The demo demons in training hustled into obedience, filing into the tank, donning scuba gear before entering the waters. It was dark, pitch black in there, and there were two mines to each soldier, enough to blast a crater half a mile wide in this dune world.

[member="Echo Emerald"]

Echo slightly smiled at his comment. "Yeah you do a little even after everything has happened to you.... to the rest of the galaxy wasn't in your control. Now ending that will make you a better person. Even if that does mean you have to kill millions." Echo then sat back in her chair tipping her hat to block the sun from her eyes.

Dozing off for a while waking up to james yelling at them she stood up walking up next to him. "Of course they made it. Next time they might blow up."

Echo leaving james to beat the recruits into the soldiers he wanted to make at first she headed to White Castle to resolve some issues they were having. When she had gotten there the communication officer had informed her that they had found the location of rose. "Well when we are done here we are going back to LC-2 to get the rest of the fleet.

Two Days Later:

Echo had over slept by fourteen hours and didn't care james wouldn't do anything at this point he would rather people die then help them. So today she had taken over the training today. Now today was unusual and something you didn't see everyday. "As they all filed onto a drop ship taking them to one of the pulse Flare cruisers. "All right today will be different from all the training james has done before you all will need to make it to that ship with out being detected and plant all your thermal detonators that have been modified to be a breaching charge able to blow through doors and weak part of the ships hull. Now once the get all your charges planted and they are armed you have to climb to the top of the ship were a ship will be waiting for you but if you fall off it's going to be a long fall for you." She knew today a few people would fall off maybe it would give james a show below maybe not but all she knew was she was trying to kill them. As the ship dropped them off they flew back to the castle so she could watch them from it's bridge.

About thirty minutes had passed b sense the troopers had started their training and to her surprise none of them had fallen off yet. "Commander whats the status on the exact location of rose? and do we have the supplies we need yet?" "The supplies are awaiting us back at LC-2 and as of the exact location of rose is still unknown we can only pinpoint the system she is in. But teams are working over time to find her." "Good and tell cruiser six to be on high alert. And to shoot first questions never." As cruiser six had gotten the alert you could see every trooper aboard arm them selfs and the trainees hanging off the side of the ship look at each other in confusion on why the ship went into high alert. Echo switched her comms to speak to only the trainees "All right looks like the ship went into high alert and are using their weapons of stun but for you guys you have to have your weapons on stun or else we will be given the job to scrub ever toilet the medical corps owns. Now better hurry up before they find you!" She said laughing to her self. Not did that motivate them to move faster but work better as a unit. Echo watched as they would plant their charge then jump to the new spot and repeat till they gotten three fourths way up the ship and a worker on the ship noticed then alerting the rest of the ship. It had only taken a minute before troopers on the ship to start firing to the trainees as the trainees returning fire while placing the rest of the charges. Thirty minutes later the ship had gone into full lock down and the trainees had made it to the top of the ship and made it to their ship. Echo was glad to see they all made it but was still in shock they all had made it with only minor wounds. All right get back to the ground and do your usual drills till tomorrow when Mr. Justice takes over again.

At last. It was time. After weeks of these troops undergoing a massive guinea pig experiment, they were here. They had earned the right to be called "Demo Demons." What had started out as common farm boys had now become a skilled unit of demolitionists. There had been a fair number of drop outs. And that was to be expected. But now they had earned the right to be called the Demo Demons.

James stood before them, a stern look on his face. They were standing at attention, ready to be awarded and commissioned. Their eyes, before dull and childlike, had been turned into men and women, with an edge that had seen danger and knew they could overcome it. Hours and weeks of endless drilling and life fire had produced them as they were. Soldiers, no longer children.

"Today," James said in a loud voice, "Ye are no longer who ye once were. A great honor has been bestowed upon ye. Others will follow in ye footsteps and look to ye as gods. Ye will be seen as some of the greatest fighting forces in the galaxy. Ye will be heroes to some and tragic enemies to others. Children will look up at ye with wonder and wish to be ye. Men and women will envy ye. Some will scorn, others will love. None will ever understand what happened. Only those who earn the right to join ye as Demo Demons will. A special family has been formed here. A family that ye should never leave, abandon or forget. The one on ye left and on ye right, they would die for ye. Do the same for them."

The spacer stepped down and took a service pin from the droid who was hovering beside him. The mechanical servant held one for each of the graduates on a metallic plate, ready for James to give them over. The design was simple but to the point; crafted from bronzium it displayed a Correllian Demon's face in a sneer of contempt. The horns of its head were twisted in a gnarled arc and the goatee was a point ugly thing. The spacer took the pin and pressed it onto the first graduate's lapel. Without the backing to stop the three points of the pin, it pressed through the clothing and pricked the skin. A blood initiation. One that was minor compared to the pain these beings had been through. The Rodien gave a slight flicker of his eyes, otherwise there was no recongition of the pain than the red spot of blood soaking through the garments.

To each of the graduates, James did the same thing. They each were given this initiation, and then at last they were dismissed. James was left standing on the sandy parade ground alone. At last, it was finished.
