STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Strengths:
- Resilient - Dena refuses to die in any other way but on her feet. When knocked down, she will immediately get back up, no matter the injury or wound, be it external or internal. She will fight tooth and nail for her survival and beliefs.
- Determined - Dena refuses to falter, to go unheard. She will not back down from her stances and persevere no matter the opposition. Some may call this stubbornness, but Dena would disagree.
- Ambitious - Dena has the need and drive to prove herself, and rise the ranks, earning more power and influence.
- Loyal - Dena, once someone has earned her respect, admiration, or love will latch onto them, and pledge her loyalty, willing to go to hell and back for those she cares for most. But she does expect the same form of loyalty returned as well. If it is not, it is seen as a betrayal in her eyes.
- Survivor - Dena can adapt on any planet, able to survive out in the wilderness with the many skills she picked up as she grew up within a war-band.
- Talented Combatant/Force Enhance - Much like many others that were not trained in the ways of the force at a young age, their force sensitivity would act out in certain ways, making one adept in certain fields. For Dena, it was combat. Since she was a young girl, she was able to subconsciously channel the force into her limbs to be as strong or stronger than her more physically capable opponents. She also became a quick learner, when it came to combat. Able to learn techniques quickly and copy many of her opponent's moves with ease, be they a warrior of man or beast, though she still needs to practice these techniques to truly master them of course. She adds these techniques into her own ' self-taught' fighting style.
Weaknesses:
- Prideful - Often overconfident in her abilities, she will often not listen to advice she does not wish to hear, or be too confident in her abilities and refuse to accept she is not strong enough to attain a certain goal on her own until she is smacked down for her arrogance.
- Impulsive - Dena often allows her emotions to dictate her actions, acting out in the heat of the moment without thinking of the consequences.
- Berserk Button - Is quick to anger when called a Khanate, Slave, or ridiculed for her alien heritage or for her mothers profession.
- Envious - Feels deep envy for those that have that which she does not. Be it due to ones higher ranking, their abundance of family and loved ones, a lack of being prejudiced against, respect they have with their peers, etc.
- Old Wounds - When Dena was 13 years old, she suffered great damage on her throat, due to an individual in her past choking her with a stun gauntlet and activating it. This irreparably damaged her throat, leaving horrible electric scarring in the shape of a grasped hand. Now, due to this her voice is gravely, hoarse and croaky, making it difficult to raise her voice as well as making her more intimidating to others, especially those that already have a lower opinion on non-humans.
- This is not pod racing - Dena is not the greatest pilot. She CAN fly, just not well, due to her not really having the chance to learn too well outside of simply being told how to do so and what some of the buttons do. Honestly, she's happy when she can land the kriffing thing without banging it up.
APPEARANCE:
Dena stands straight, tall, and proud as she believes a warrior should. Well, as tall as she can at 5'5. With raven black hair and emerald green eyes that seem to always be set in a permanent glare. Thin lips and a concave nose, and a forest green complexion, inherited from her birth mother. As Dena grew, her adoptive mother would honor her late friend by giving her daughter the same tattoos she once had. She did not know what they truly meant, but simply thought it would be a good way to honor her dead friend through her daughter.
There are many scars all throughout her body, due to participating in battles ever since she was 13. Be they from stray blaster bolts, vibro blades, or from the fangs or claws of a beast. The most noticeable and traumatic of the scars is the one on her throat. The war-band captain, of which Dena was born into, grew drunk as he often did after successful battles. One day, Dena seemed to grow too rebellious for his liking, and as punishment, grabbed her by the throat while wearing his stun gauntlets, and activated them. This left a scar on her throat that caused much damage, giving her a gravely and croaky voice as well as making it difficult to speak for months. To this day she cannot raise her voice without causing discomfort.
BIOGRAPHY:
Dena was born into a war-band, by an unknown father and a pleasure slave mother who died in childbirth. Zevmi, the lover and logistics adviser of the captain of the war-band, who was known as Byrtrev, took Dena in, treating her as if she were her own flesh and blood. Byrtrev allowed this begrudgingly, Zevmi always being a soft spot to his cold and steely exterior. But as the years went by, he began to grow angry and resentful to the young mirialan girl, who he saw as competition for the attention of his lover. He became more aggressive, to both Zevmi and Dena.
As Dena grew, surrounded by warriors and slaves, she learned the ways of battle. She would watch with fascination as the warriors performed maintenance on their weapons, repaired their armor, and sparred with one another. Eventually, when she became big enough to start doing work around the camp to 'earn her rations', she picked up a vibro-blade, feeling a sense of rightness she never felt before in her then short life. The weapon master of the band noticed her interest, and despite the mean look Byrtrev was giving him, decided to humor the girl. At first, Dena could barely lift the vibro-blade over her head, and was quickly sent to the dirt. But to many's surprise, she kept getting back up, no matter how bruised and battered she got. With each time she got back up, she improved. For months she practiced every day with many of the warriors on their downtime, many simply wanting to beat on the girl, until finally she won her first sparring match. It was if the wind picked up on her legs, and her arms became as strong as a wampa, as she overwhelmed her opponent. It was then that her power was beginning to be recognized by the other warriors, many humoring the idea of letting the 'Little-Beast' come to the next raid. Byrtrev, thinking he found a way to get rid of Dena, accepted, much to Zevmi's dismay. But to Byrtrevs anger, Dena not only survived, but excelled in the battle, killing her first man at the age of 13. During the celebration, Dena herself wasn't in much a mood to celebrate with the others, the shock of taking her first life still fresh. When Byrtrev came over to her, drunk, to mock her for such weakness, Dena spat in his face. An action she quickly regretted. Byrtrevs arm struck out like lightning, gripping onto her throat and activating his stun gauntlet. The assault left behind grievous damage to her throat, only saved due to Zevmi having a stash of bacta hidden from Byrtrev and the other warriors. It was at that moment that both Zevmi and Dena began a plan to leave both the war-band and Byrtrev behind.
For four more years they stayed, saving the few credits they could and waiting for the best chance they could to successfully escape, for no one could leave. All deserters were to be brought to the sword. But no matter how hard she fought, Dena was always given the smallest share of loot, only further fueling her hatred of Byrtrev. Then finally, on her 17th birthday, they made their move, gathering all of their belongings and attempted to steal a ship and leave this life behind. But Byrtrev was waiting for them, along with a dozen of his warriors, all betrayed and angry. But none more so than the captain himself. He ordered for his men to open fire, but when they aimed their blasters Dena screamed at them, aiming 17 years' worth of rage, hate, fear, sadness, everything she has bottled up within, unleashing a shockwave of energy that slammed into all of them, causing the blaster bolts to be fired wildly, one of them hitting Zevmi. Quickly, with strength she didn't know she had, Dena picked up her adoptive mother, and carefully loaded her to Byrtrevs personal ship. But when they were about to escape, Byrtrev began to fire upon them with a heavy blaster, damaging the ship. In a panic, Dena activated hyper-space, finally leaving the war-band.
Eventually, the ship exited hyperspace, Dena was forced to crashland on the nearest planet, leaving the ship irreparable and utterly wrecked. Dena quickly went to Zevmi, to check on her, only to find her taking slow, shallow breaths. Within an hour of landing on the planet, Zevmi died.
For a year Dena survived, alone, hunting the predators that once hunted her. Until one day, a ship landed nearby, and out of it a figure came out. One that felt odd, yet…familiar to Dena. Like they felt sort of…like her. The warrior of another land, for that is what they had to be, what they felt like, offered to take Dena away, to train, to become stronger and hone her skills, to take part in a greater purpose. And, honestly with nothing better to do but hunt and be hunted on a hostile planet, Dena accepted.
