- Soul-Shocked - The Kyber Crystal that forms the heart of the weapon was present during Wake Nayne's massacre of dozens if-not hundreds of sith specters and living refugees through the use of his Drain Knowledge power, consuming their life essence, memories, feelings, and knowledge. The horrific incident fundamentally traumatized the weapon, turning the blade an eerie white-blue and surrounding it with whisps of white-blue smoke and mist up to four inches off the blade. Physical contact with the mist can cause damage to the nervous system, possibly stunning a person it could have simply grazed.
- Trakata Forged - The weapon is designed to support a user of the Trakata fighting style, with the blades activation and deactivation time being nigh instantaneous and silent, thanks to the Ghostfire Crystal.
- Reaping Weapon - With a combination of a refined phobium emitter, dual phase system, a carefully treated beam lense inside a high resolution system operating with a potent power cell in the form of a HAPU. The blade of this weapon possesses remarkable if-not frightening cutting capability.
- Soul Thief - The weapon can be operated as an extension of the wielder's own body when performing the Drain Knowledge force power, and is capable of storing 'souls' or mental essences within it that can later be extracted safely and steadily.
- Catastrophic Meltdown - The HAPU is a potent power source, but it is quite unstable. Significant damage to the core of the weapon could cause catastrophic damage to the weapon, wielder, and the surrounding area.
- Beacon of the Dark Side - The weapon's frankly unholy attunement make it impossible for the wielder to hide using normal means from other force users. The weapon functions as a beacon to nearby force sensitives for up to 100m unless the user is actively concentrating on concealing themselves.
- Impure - Force powers used to purify and otherwise cleanse targets can be used to temporarily disable this weapon depending on their intensity, permitting an advantage over the wielder.
- Overload - The alchemical metal that the weapon is made of allows it to absorb force lightning and store it within the HAPU, but excessive amounts of energy stored could cause the weapon to go critical, careful management of the internal energy is essential.
Derriphan was concieved by Wake during the Scouring of Korriban of the Ashlan who had come to inhabit it. The crystal was captured from an Ashlan defender and corrupted through the consumption of innocents and monsters alike. It was there that Wake Nayne acquired numerous artifacts from the ancient treasures stored within, pieces to the greater puzzle that was Derriphan. Wake would find the crystal components, several shattered alchemical sith weapons, and rare Refined Phobium Emitter within the depths. Using the knowledge of dozens of dead sith and jedi alike Wake would assemble the lightsaber on his own after acquiring the remaining materials from outside sources.
When activated for the first time, the horrific weapon released a howl of hunger into the force and as Wake swung the cold, chilling blade, the souls of many wept and whispered within the eerie white-blue light.
