STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :

A double edged strength and weakness of Desken is that he has a playful childish nature about him. While this makes him easier to approach then a more stoic Jedi it also gives off the impression of him making light of others at best or down right mocking at worse. He can be serious but often misses the cues when someone is getting annoyed with his childish nature.

Despite the childish nature he displays Desken is a firm believer in the Jedi Code. He finds tremendous pride in the fact that he is a Jedi and he follows the Code, given sometimes he follows them in his own way but he is loyal to his core to the Order and what it stands for.

Another flaw is that Desken has an almost impulsive curiosity of the universe. He is highly intelligent despite his mannerisms and he simply wants to know everything he can. Though his earlier training as a Padawan helped curb his curiosity towards darker subjects like forbidden weapons and powers it still is something that tugs on the back of his mind even as a knight. It is not that he even wants this knowledge to use it, he simply is a believer that knowledge itself is neither good nor evil and should be recorded and remembered.

Ambition is another failing of Desken since reaching his status as a Knight he has little desire if any to rise any higher in the order. He has no lofty intentions of being an old Master making grand decisions and instead shy away from that level of responsibility and instead keeps himself busy as a Knight always willingly running off on missions when ordered and providing lessons in both blade work and force practice to any who ask him.

Most annoyingly, especially to himself is that he has an insatiable sweet tooth, often getting in trouble even as a Knight for swiping sweets and he carries a small bag of candy in his robes and is often found nibbling on a piece

APPEARANCE:
Desken is usually found in the brown robes of the Jedi with a simple soft tan undershirt. His hair is cut short though needing at least a combing it is often just a tangled mess as he cares little for fixing it. He has some freckles under his eyes on his cheeks which combined with his height gives him a somewhat more childish appearance at least at first glance. Often his shirt is stained, since he often forgets to change his clothes after working on ships or after training and so he often seems unkempt and dirty though he does his best to clean up when made aware of his state and of course tries to wear clean clothing when summoned.

BIOGRAPHY:
Desken joined the order at a young age being a proper youngling and risen to the rank of Knight in a very traditional sense. He has very faint memories of his family before coming to the Order but he simply views the Jedi as his family now. Every Master a grumpy old uncle or aunt his fellow Knights brothers and sisters and the younger ones are little cousins and nephews in need of a guiding hand. His only notable problems during his youngling days was a bad habit of theft, only from the kitchens in temple itself as he often stole sweets. A small stream of pranks on his fellow younglings, and a few on higher ranking knights. Also his curious mind he often tried to bypass security in the library in order to learn things beyond what his clearance would allow.

However once he reached the age to be a Padawan and was taken under the wing of a guiding master his older mannerisms were muted, though never truly forgotten. He still got caught a few times stealing sweets though the punishments he faced caused him to attempt his little heists with less frequency and the times he did he had learned how to sneak properly. His master also showed him the dangers of knowledge, by first allowing him more access to the achieves and then having long talks and lessons about why knowing everything was a foolish, and dangerous mindset to have. With his lessons and training he found better ways to put his busy mind to work rather then trying to learn old secrets.

Rising to the rank of Knight was one of the proudest moments of his life and he quickly got to work for the Order, often taking missions that would take him away from his home for long stretches of time. Which makes his homecomings all the more enjoyable as he checks in on the Padawans and younglings, as well as his fellow Knights. He does tend to let Masters come to him rather then go to them if they need him, feeling a bit of embarrassment as he finds the rank of Master something he wont be able to reach without giving up on the childish vices that helped him achieve balance.

Skills

General Knowledge
Desken is a true believer in the jack of all trades but master of none. His constant desire to learn has lead him to a wild field of study but his fickle nature prevents him from becoming a true expert in any one subject. He understands most mechanical subjects and can even fly a small ship or speeder but struggles with larger ships and vehicles. He can preform basic repairs and even tinker a bit with machines though he tends to prefer just to experiment with ideas rather then create anything stable. He can treat basic wounds and knows some aspects of diseases and sicknesses but would always go on the word of an actual professional before making any grand claims. He even has a bit of botany experience though he often jokes that "Anyone can grow weeds"

However if given time Desken does have a knack for research and an ability to retain information at a very high rate, if given time to prepare for a subject he can be far more knowledgeable though still no expert by any means.

Lightsaber combat

Desken relies on two wildly different styles of saber combat depending on the situation he is in.

First, should he be in what he would consider a proper duel, which he only considers is when he is against his fellow Jedi he relies on a standard blending of styles. His use of a long handled lightsaber allows him to make the best out of the twin styles of the Fifth form both for their defensive styles of Shien and the crushing offense of Djem So. Though his lacking of stamina, especially when using the force to amplify his strength for the more aggressive of the styles has lead him to practice Soresu as well, using it to catch his breath and act purely defensively until he recovers to swap back to his more aggressive style. His lack of stamina is without a doubt his biggest weakness in his sword work which is why he plays such aggressive offense in efforts of winning the duel quickly.

The second style however is for when he is not dueling another Jedi and in his opinion when the idea of "honor" doesn't matter so much as staying alive and winning. His alternative styling of saber combat has earned him a bit of notoriety among the Jedi as he affectionately refers to the overall style as being a trickster. While his blade work is still very much focused on the fifth form he includes a somewhat less known style referred to as Tràkata the art of simply turning off ones lightsaber and turning it back on to create surprise strikes and tricky maneuvers. He also makes use of any gadgets and force powers to try and tip the scales in his favors even if his victory may not be honorable. But the most wicked aspect of his style is that he portrays himself as utterly incompetent. Every blocked strike from sword or blaster comes as much as a surprise to him as to his enemy....or at least how he acts. This style came from the realization that if nobody takes him seriously in a battle they will make so many more mistakes that he can capitalize on.

But it should be noted that even with of these styles Desken still tries his hardest not to take life unless there is truly no options left available to him, even his styling of turning off his lightsaber to strike a non fatal bludgening strike, which he has designed his saber around both Tràkata but also making the weapon dangerous even when the blade is not ignited.
