Soldier of Fortune
NAME: Desmond Voralis
FACTION: CIS
RANK: Phantom Corps - Mercenary/Honorary Major
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 32
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 6'2"
WEIGHT: 195 - Athletic build

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Combat Veteran - Years of military and mercenary service have left Desmond with an intimate knowledge of infantry tactics and weapons. Grenades, blaster rifles, disruptors, repeaters, vibroblades... you name it, he's probably gotten his hands on it more than once and possibly used it clear a structure.
Demolitionist - And, on occasion, has simply used high yield munitions to bring said structure down.
Field Engineer - While not an R&D man by any stretch, Desmond is more than capable when it comes to field repair, salvage and cobbling together spare parts to keep something running or jury-rig a temporary solution together. Sometimes the emphasis is on the temporary, depending on just what he was trying to accomplish.
Cultured - Plays, works of art, philosophy, opera... The man definitely has some high class taste his gear-head soldier image might conflict with now and then.
Business Connections - While nowhere near as well connected as a fixer or politician, years in the business have given Desmond some scattered contacts among black marketeers, cartels, dissidents and his fellow mercenaries.
Reckless - Desmond has a history of sticking his own neck out first before anyone else in the squad, or going for risky gambits over the sure and steady approach.
Insubordinate - There is a reason Desmond left the military. While he will never outright break a contract or disobey a directive from an employer, he can be quite open to creative interpretations of his orders when he feels he's being bossed around too heavily or his stubbornness is otherwise set off.
Pride - Years of survival have left Desmond more than a little full of himself and his capabilities, to an over-estimated degree.
Flexible Ethics - While not a 'bad' person, he isn't exactly 'good' either, though he does at least hold loyalty to who he works with.

BIOGRAPHY:
The son of a well-off family in the lower echelons of Serenno's nobility, Desmond wanted for little in life except excitement. Bored with the idea of following in their footsteps through the world's politics or academia, he enlisted in the planetary army at 17.
He showed natural talent for combat and machinery, but a stubborn streak against the chain of command led to numerous disciplinary actions despite his proven ability and valor against raids by Rim pirates. After three years he was quietly discharged from service, his record full of citations and reprimands for various minor infractions. Instead of returning to civilian life, Desmond took his savings and left the world. He signed on with a Rim mercenary company, beginning a decade long career with whichever crews were willing to take him on, picking up the tricks of the trade all along the way. While he always got along well with his fellow soldiers, his long-standing tendency to butt heads with his superiors never fully faded away.
After his inevitable falling out with his last commander, Desmond decided it was time to take his savings and strike out on his own. Maybe it was time to finally be his own boss instead...
