Diamonds and Rust

After her slightly interesting come back to Edric, Zesiro was ordered to rest and recover for at least a couple of days before attempting to work again. She wasn't one to take the order to rest very well. Not able to just sit or lay and do nothing after less than a day she was already feeling cooped up.

Letting out a sigh, she poked her head of doorway of her room. Not seeing any nurses or guards nearby, she attempted to casually walk out. Not getting very far before she heard somebody coming, she took a quick detour and ended up facing an exit. Not a full exit from the medical ward, but at least it was outside.

Pushing open the door, she hoped to not be noticed by whoever that was she heard coming in her direction. If it was a nurse or a doctor, Zesiro knew she was going to wind up back in her room. Probably with the door closed and locked this time.

It was no doctor, or nurse, or anyone that one would want near their body with a scalpel or needle. Not that Solan cant give medical aid, but it usually leads to the person being jabbed a few times before he gets it right. Not like he was really sure of himself these days but he figured he could still help ease people's pain while they rested, which is why he was here. What he did not expect was to nearly barrel into a woman who seemed rather familiar. It took him a few moments but he finally realized this was the girl that his son had been looking out for while she was recovering and now Solan had come face to face with her.

"Hello my dear, I do think you are suppose to be in your bed. I am certain that your job can wait if you are worried about there. You are my son's personal bodyguard right?" He paused for a moment, looking her over and smiled with a grin. "You would think my son would choose someone more like my taste as a body guard, nothing wrong with you but red hair is definitely a much better look for people. Makes the eyes stick out."

And in less than five minutes, Solan was back to himself as he stood before his son's personal guard, making jokes and comments just as he always have. It wasn't an uncommon practice for him in the least but this was a special occasion. He wanted to get to know the woman who had garnered so much trust and faith from his son, so much so that even as an enemy Edric could take her in and help her get back into operational shape. It was a question that poked at his mind and he studied how she would react for now.

Letting out a breath that was a silent curse, Zesiro stopped when the man started speaking to her. She nodded when he said she was supposed to be in bed resting and recovering. He asked if she was Edric's guard. Then he smiled at her and made what she thought of was a very odd comment. Pulling at a strand of her blond hair, it fell in front of her face for a moment before she pushed it back and into place.

He said his son, that meant this man was the king. A sudden realization hit her and she blushed. Edric wasn't one for tons of formality, especially from her.

"I don't really feel looks have anything to do with skill, sir."

Since she had stopped trying to be something she wasn't, Zesiro was much more easily embarrassed. Without having to wear a mask over what she really felt about something, she had actually become more in touch with what that was.

"I never said it did but I would have thought for my son to pick an attractive woman as a friend, she would have atleast redder hair. But it would seem that he does not feel the same attraction I do to the look. Though, considering the way he talks about his newest ally, I can only assume you are a spectacular woman in your own merit and skill, he always did like people who could hold their own in a fight." Solan smiled as he looked off to the side and thought to himself.

"If you would not mind, I would like to get to know my Son's newest friend and closest ally, It would be refreshing to know who he spends his time getting close to."

It was clear to anyone who had known Solan in the past what he was doing. But for Zes, it would sound as if he was saying that Edric actually liked her, more so than just as a friend like what Solan had chosen for wording. His tone was the tricky thing, as it was something that most who knew him would catch. Behind his soft and truthful tone, there was this venomous trickery hidden, something that only after experiencing the man more than once someone can notice when he uses that trickery.

His home had many cameras installed, and he knew how the two glanced at eachother. He also knew his son was too naive to really understand his feelings which meant that he would not know why he enjoyed their talks and why he would look at Zes over and over again out of habit. Solan knew though as he had been through that more than a few times and he now had the chance to figure out if this woman who his son had chosen as a guard was worth it.

In all her time spent with Edric, he had not expressed any interest in being intimate with her, so Zesiro wasn't sure how to interpret what Solan was saying. It implied Edric liked her as more than a companion and threw her into some confusion. Not that she opposed, but she hadn't given it a real thought and just accepted the fact he enjoyed her company as much as she enjoyed his.

It was something as new to her as it was him. In the past, she had relied on passion in things, but that's where it had been left. Now she was just herself and was happy with that.

"What has he said about me?"

Leaving off any fact of his comment about attraction and hair color for the moment, she lifted a hand to her hair again not even knowing it. How the two of them acted around each other was just as lost on Zesiro as it was on Edric.

When Solan said he wanted to get to know her because she was spending so much time with his son, she gave him an odd look with slightly narrowed eyes. Shrugging her shoulders when that look ended, she sighed.

"What do you want to know?"

"Nothing directly, I mean, who would want to tell their old man about how intimate a pair might be. I can take a good guess based on my past and I must say that I did not expect you to be the choice when it comes down to it. You don't quite fit the idea I had in mind for someone that my son would be intimate with. Kid always was a bit of a bookworm." Solan had dropped all hint of subtlety, his words very clear this time and his body leaning back against the wall to enjoy the show, his hands fishing out a datapad from his pocket while he waited for her to react.

He would give her the moment to relax again, assuming she did do so, before asking the more personal questions about the woman.

"Firstly, I already know how the two of you met and I know about your first meeting with him when you had shown up, but I want to know why. Why did you think that he would even entertain your audience when you arrived and what do you intend to get out of being here. As far as I care, the last woman that had entered this home under the idea of a peaceful time was soon helping harm my daughter. So I hope that you have thought this through because if you intend to cause any harm to this home, to its occupants or to the planet itself as a spy, well I am more than happy to remove that head from your shoulder, or burn you alive. After all, I have very good ears, and I have already heard about your recent... escapades."

Solan's smiled had gone and he was staring at her with a straight face as a spark snaked hits way between his fingers. He didn't show emotion, but it was there, like a dark cloud cutting off all light from the hallway. The last time someone had betrayed him, it was during the time that the hutts had taken his only daughter, the only one he had brought into the world himself and the only child of his love. So if this woman intended to cause any harm to his adopted children, she would find out what he did to those who thought they could get away with the slightest of betrayals.

As Solan answered her question, he dropped any subtle hints had been dropping earlier and jumped to the totally wrong conclusion as to the type of relationship she and Edric had. As he continued, it sounded like he didn't approve of her.

Her face started off a normal color that quickly turned a bright pink, but he didn't give her a chance to speak right away. When he was done, he leaned against the wall fully aware what he said had effected her. Starting out to say something a few times, it was obvious there wasn't much sense she was making at the moment.

"It's not...we haven't...he can make..."

Even though he paused before speaking again, Zesiro was unable to form a clear sentence to answer him with. When he continued, Solan stated he knew of their initial meeting. It didn't surprise her, but as he continued and asked why she had hoped to gain an audience with Edric. As he spoke more, even though that pink hue remained on her skin, the flesh under those vessels grew pale. Going one moment not able to speak clearly to being fully grounded and serious, Zesiro did her best to keep up with him.

"What happened recently was more of me being in the wrong place. As you can see, I'm not with the Empire anymore. Those days are in my past and I'm not going back. I would never dream of harming him or any of yours."

Even on Tatooine, it had been an accident that she happened to wind up on the side of the Empire. Not once did she raise arms against anybody that Solan might feel was his.

Solan was happy that she had responded the way that she did. First she stumbled over her words but then was serious when he wished for her to be, letting him know she would never so much as try to harm those he cared for. He rarely made threats like this anymore, not since he had decided to fall into the background but the woman in front of him was a bit different compared to those that he normally dealt with.

He sighed and turned his eyes over to the side.

"Lets keep it way then, I would prefer things do not go wrong for this planet. Now with that said, I think I have overstayed my welcome and it is about time I left you to figure out what you intend to do with your life." Solan started to turn and would leave the woman there.

"Oh, and do try to pick better friends. I know it can be a pain to find good company considering my past. Hell my best friends are a crazy sith tyrant and a pirate king." With that he would be gone, moving through the door and out into the halls.
