Gilamar Skirata
The most important step is always the next one
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a character that won't take Dorn Skirata's crap and to run the Shriek-Hawks as well as provide the Mandalorians with an interesting character to interact with.
- Image Credit:"old psycho bein' an old softie" By kradeelav
- Role: Give cryptic guidance and serve as one of the ranking officers in a large mercenary operation
- Links: Shriek-Hawk Company
- Age: Mid to late 50s
- Force Sensitivity: None
- Species: Lorridian
- Appearance: Diego is a tall, even for Lorridian standards who regularly pushed the 2 meter mark in height. Gangly, tightly muscled, and tan he was given the nickname Veshok which was a type of evergreen tree that grew on Mandalore. He had a long chin with a charmingly angled jawline and charcoal colored hair that was graying which could be more easily seen when he kept the sides of his head shaved. He wore black armor with the T-shape of his visor painted a dusty orange, similar to the color of rust. His armor was more flexible than most other Mandalorians, preferring to leave his arms and most of his legs bare save for the black flightsuit he wore underneath his beskar plates.
- Name: Diego Kal'Torrin
- Loyalties: Mandalorians; Shriek-Hawk Mercenaries; Gilamar Skirata
- Wealth: Growing up on the tail end of the Gulag Plague, Diego like many Mandalorians was frugal with his money. Though the exact amount he owns is unknown, he claims to have enough "to live comfortably for the rest of his life"
- Notable Possessions:
Authentic Beskar'gam - Aay'han, an AP-290 Heavy Freighter
- Pet Strill "Mirda"
[*]Skills: After decades of training and war Diego is a fine tuned killing machine. His uncanny ability to control his emotions and mental mind state made him an effective Jedi and Sith hunter during his youth as he was able to produce a minimal impression in the Force much to the surprise of his Force Sensitive companions. Outside of his uncanny ability to blend in with a crowd and become small in the Force he was also a very capable fighter, able to best many Mandalorians much younger than himself in hand to hand and melee combat. He was a decent pilot and a very good shot.
- Military discipline and training skills: Instructiuon
- Hand-To Hand combat
- Proficient rifleman
- Hunting and tracking
- Able to fool Jedi Mind Scans and resistant to Jedi Mind Trick
- Limited Beskar Smithing ability
[*]Personality: Diego is a very private man, often keeping to himself and his pet Strill, Mirda. Cold and generally seen as unfeeling his apathetic demeanor and tall stature landed him with the nickname Veshok. Generally he cared little for those around him and saw himself and most of his fellow Mandalorians during wartime as pawns being moved about by the Mandalore for whatever end would leave them with the biggest pile of credits at the end of it. Despite his negative outlook on war, he was an avid supporter of it and frequently went out of his way to find war and battle scattered throughout the Galaxy as a mercenary, earning himself a sizable personal account. The only two things he shows emotion towards are his pet Strill and his grandchildren. Conversations about them or with them turn the stone-faced cadaverous man into a jolly, fluid cuddle machine.
COMBAT INFORMATION
- Weapon of Choice: Mandalorian Blaster Rifle
- Combat Function: Diego is best at supporting roles in combat such as a sniper, spotter, or flanker. He is also a very competent leader and often leads large and small groups in combat operations for the Shriek-Hawk Mercenary company. His greatest weakness is Mirda, who frequently accompanies the Mandalorian on deployments. Threats to her life are taken more seriously than death threats to him or his own. He is also starting to lose hearing in his right ear, making his reaction to sneak attacks from behind or the right more effective than they should be for a man of his experience.
Diego was born and raised on Mandalore. Born to a prominent family of beskar miners and smiths in Enceri, Diego was at an early age taught the basics of smithing beskar as well as the proper, traditional way to mine beskar. As one of the native main families who had been around during Fett's time, his relatively small clan was able to achieve feats that even some of the largest clans never achieve, his clan owned several beskar mines in Ka'pruni, the Iron Jewel of Mandalore. Diego thus grew up very rich and posh for a Mandalorian. By the time he finished his verdgotten he had a set of brand new beskar armor, expensive to make and purchase during the days coming out of the gulag plague. He wore that armor proudly through several wars, civil wars, and skirmishes with several factions as the Galaxy started to open up after the main scare of the Gulag Plague was beginning to end.
Diego would go on to server several Mandalores as Ori'ramikad, a Supercommando. Bound by the Codex he faithfully served as an elite soldier for many years and performed every task unflinchingly, no matter how awful. Morally grey his view was changed once his grandchildren were born, around the same time Gilamar Skirata became Mandalore. Odd for an old man to take up the mantle, but his age brought with it a kind of message that resonated with the slowly changing Diego. It wasn't the Mandalorians' job to be the Galactic police, but some things were just inherently evil and ignoring those things just painted a bigger and bigger target on the back of the Mandalorians as their apathy allowed potential ally after potential ally fall, leaving just them and the monster they'd help create in their apathy, the monster being the Sith Empire and Jedi led Republic. Diego would have done anything to stop the Sith or Jedi from repeating the Mandalorian Excision from millennia ago. In order to protect his people Gilamar took a sect of the Supercommandos and dubbed them Cuy'val Dar or, "those who no longer exist". Their mission was simple, protect Mandalore. Using tactics that would have left a sour taste in the mouths of many Mandalorians the Cuy'val Dar led secret strikes on Sith officials and removed Sith and Republic sympathizers quietly from the Mandalorian ranks. Officially they were just Supercommandos on deployment. They had no oversight and no rules of engagement.
After Gilamar's apparent death the group disbanded on its own, easily flexing back into their positions in the Supercommandos under the new Mandalore, Azrael Skirata. Diego would faithfully serve the Mandalorian people until Gilamar's return and subsequent opening of the Shriek-Hawk Mercenary Company, a merc company designed to help struggling Mandalorians find work fighting in other wars, thus keeping their people sharp and fed. The group grew slowly at first, but the bond Diego shared with Gil allowed for Gil to take a step back when it became too much. For the most part, Deigo ran operations for the budding company, finding the youth of the Shriek-Hawks refreshing. They became his second family. Diego's strill became a mascot of the Enceri office where Diego spent most of his time. During the Civil War he fought faithfully with Gilamar Skirata, but after his and Mia's death at the hands of Death Watch the cold, unfeeling Veshok laid down roots within the Death Watch's new rule. Though he dislikes and is suspicious of Dorn Skirata, the current head of House Skirata and owner of both MandalMotors and the Shriek-Hawks, he follows his and Ra Viszla's orders faithfully as any Mandalorian should.
