BIOGRAPHY:
Enjoying a life of general stability on Cloud City, the Bespin Boy has experienced relative peace and prosperity on the premier gas mining city of the galaxy. While a world typically associated with the First Order in one way or another over the last few decades, its importance as a trade hub and positioning along a main hyperlane route has given the series of cities suspended above the giant planet rather little to deal with in terms of sweeping invasions and genocide. That hasn’t stopped the multiculturally inclined world to prosper directly from the various war efforts that power the give and take across this universe —or encouraging wave after wave of criminal enterprises and gangs to come from all over the Outer Rim to stake a claim on a city block or alleyway.
This resultant dichotomy of civilization and its distended underbelly has resulted in a youth typical of Bespin: a person who is exposed to many cultures and lifestyles, but is otherwise unmoved by specific causes beyond passing curiosity —especially political causes. Not one to pass up a good opportunity after a nondescript secondary education, Dirk enlisted in the First Imperial Army in order to jumpstart his journey away from the Ison Corridor, figuring he’d be a shoo-in for a cushy officer’s position. During testing and training he was deemed insufficient for combat roles and would have been disqualified from any career within the armed forces; however, the Bespin Boy proved to have an incredible intellect and predilection for technical study. There being a shortage of medical personnel meant that he was shuffled off to the Medical Service. While he does have a bit of a chip on shoulder thanks to the bureaucratic shrug, Mr. Bannahan prefers to take the result all in hand. Beats living with his parents, at any rate. . .

TRAITS:
Gifted: smart, intellectual, a quick study, a grower —Dirk is just plain old good at learning things, especially if the thing in question can be learned in a technical manual. If something makes him curious, he'll read up on it —at least until the time he's bored. Of course, simply because he has the capacity to learn and retain information beneficial for his own advancement doesn’t make this particular man a genius.
Take Me Higher: a lifetime of growing up on balconies, ledges, spires, and climbing up and down towers to get that killer social post (especially where one shouldn't) has made the Cloud City kid very comfortable and agile when high in places most would deem precarious. Cliff climbing? Sky diving? Jump Jetting? These things would be easy and enjoyable things for Dirk.
Fun 'N' Flirty: young, hot, and more than happy to get sleazy when opportunity strikes, this guy tends to talk a lot and is pretty forward when decorum or sensibility would dictate caution. Life's too vast in his eyes to take boundaries into consideration. This can make Dirk seem a charming companion in the right context, but also a downright cocky and insufferable lunkhead when he won't let up.
Atrocious Aim: D.B. is terrible with blasters. The loudness either scares him or leaves little in the way of trigger discipline. Nobody during army training ever saw someone miss a shot at 5 meters with a targeting pistol, but Dirk somehow managed. If he's ever confronted in a firefight, it would be better for him to either toss his gun at the opponent, or use the stock as a hammer.
Inexperienced In the Field: Sure, he may know his way around a crowd and what skin routine to follow every morning, but when it comes to practical experience the Bespin native is lacking it in abundance. He hasn't seen war with his own eyes, though it's a common thing to stream on the holovids, and he most certainly doesn't understand the suffering or trauma of others.
