- Rapid Deployment: The Dirk was designed to quickly insert a sizable contingent of soldiers into battle zones speedily, with state-of-the-art engines and atmospheric wings allowing for sleek maneuverability through planetary atmospheres.
- Tough: The hull plating is reinforced with quadanium steel to protect the occupants and internal systems from exterior damage such as flak, lasers, and small-scale explosions. The damage threshold of the Dirk is quite high.
- Light Weaponry: With the intent of the Dirk firmly situated on troop deployment, the weapon systems of the dropship have been rolled back to make room for more defensive measures. It still possesses several weapons, but none of them are truly meant for large-scale combat.
- Large: Coming in at sixty meters long, the Dirk is quite a large transports to have bobbing and weaving through combat zones. This makes it an ideal target for anti-air emplacements on the ground, which is why the Dirk is so defensive.
Developed in the hidden founderies of Malsheem, the Dirk-class Dropship is the first of many small-scale assault craft designed to ferry the clone armies of the Dark Lord across the galaxy. However, with the clone armies not yet fully operational and with no reason to deploy them in the immediate future, the Dirk-class was instead given to the Blackblade Guard to serve in a more immediate capacity.
Armed with two wing-mounted heavy laser cannons and four hull-mounted laser cannons the Dirk isn't entirely helpless when in flight, but its true strength is its ability to wade through overlapping fields of fire and well-defended enemy airspace to deliver its payload of ninety soldiers right into the heart of battle.
Slipped past enemy lines like a blade slipping past ribs, just as its namesake implies.
