Last week three people got banned for gossip.
This week we have had multiple reports continuing the same trend and it's getting very tiring. So I'm beginning to think we need some sort of Gossip Martial Law.
I think I wrote enough to get past the Discord and Xenforo summary.
This is clickbait.
Nothing's actually wrong.
But ya'll do be yappin ur gums too much. There is such a problem as too much info. As the wisest and greatest among us, even I am susceptible to kneejerk reactions, so I know you are too. Say what you will, but I know you are. If I'm not above it, you aren't, and I gaslight myself too much to be proven wrong. So I try to be aware of this, that I can be prone to kneejerk reactions, and try to limit the possibilities of it happening so people that my actions affect - who here, in this community, can sometimes be a great deal of people. I have a few rules I try to maintain myself. I don't often share my strats with the enemy, but a grand majority of you aren't currently or will never be the enemy, so here they are:
1. Sleep on it. If you wake up and arrive at the same conclusion on an issue the next morning, you know it's the right one. This is probably my most important rule.
2. Limit what your eyes see. If you ingest too much, you'll be pulled a thousand different directions. This is why it is good to have advisors. Through them, you can condense the output of information. It is important to trust people, and to have people you can trust, and to have people who you know can trust you. Valiens, Srina, John, Collector. I know I can run issues through them and get different points of view, and they trust me not to lose my shit when they provide me their advice, since we're all aware I can be volatile sometimes
3. Know your limitations. If you're a confrontational guy (me), know that there are people out there that aren't. Everyone has limits, and everyone has ways of coping and dealing. I know Factory Admin
John Locke
, for example, is not nearly as confrontational as me. We're actually pretty sure he's done some time as a monk or in prison. So when he does confront me, I will take a step back and let the situation unravel, because for him to get to that point - it takes a great deal more for him to get passionately confrontational and I have to respect the emotions driving that force. I'm also aware, with the majority of members, that my default is to go +3 Barbarian Rage and their default likely isn't that, so I need to.... take a big deep breath before I engage in any encounter.
4. You are who you surround yourself with. The Admins know why they're in the Admin room, I tell them pretty often. They make me a better person, and every past and current Admin were carefully selected, except that one time I made a random new member an Admin (who turned out to be amazing actually.) Even with that new person, I told the team "I wanted a fresh perspective on the culture of Chaos." So even then, it wasn't a troll, it was a random cast of the dice to serve a purpose in advising myself. Because I'm not alone, nor should you be. We are all made better by our peers. Even the once in a millenia titanic mind of Isaac Newton, who died a virgin, had a penpal. Einstein had his wife. Pay attention, value your space and your time, and most importantly, value who you surround yourself with. If the option is "toxic bucketheads" or nobody, maybe consider surrounding yourself with toxic brainless meatgrinders is what is preventing you from surrounding yourself with the people that would elevate you.
