Do what I couldn't. Hope from the Afterlife

Her thoughts were clouded during her final days; she simply just was no longer herself. She was searching for a long time for that...purpose, and it twisted her mind every time she thought she found it but it wasn't fulfilling. Her greatest failure was hidden deep down in the crevices of her mind...a memory she wouldn't allow herself to re-watch and relive. For so long she had been on a secret side quest...

As some who knew her, knew that Ru was always the perceptive one, sitting back and contemplating everything. Some might say she knew she was about to face her death, how could a Jedi Master who could see into the future not see her death...questions saved for another time. The reasons for her death were more important, perhaps Sochi led a life full of guilt in her later years.

Some didn't know...some would have never thought...she was so detached and conservative, but in truth Ru had family. Before she set out with a former student of her, [member="Connor Harrison"] , she recorded a holo message that she stored on personal holo projector she had. She placed it in Harrison quarters before they set off on her last campaign.

-------------------------------------------------------------

When he noticed it, it would react to his presence. A miniature projection of the Togruta would appear and the stress would be noticeable. Her face was heavy with emotion, so unlike her. She was going through...thats all one would be able to tell.

"Connor, If your watching this...then I would assume that it's already happened. Listen to me...what you witnessed, my death, that was the will of the Force." the holographic image took a pause, and you could see that even the Togruta was having a hard time coming to terms with her death at that time.

"My career as a Jedi has been a fulfilling one, I have accomplished so much but there was always that one thing i've regretted. I have a niece out there roaming the galaxy Connor, I asked you to help me with my last mission because...because I knew it would come to this, and I needed you for something else. Please, Find my niece Connor and help her find purpose."

The Jedi master looked off to the side as she thought she heard voices, "Do what I could not...Find Tachi. Do this, and I shall rest easier in the afterlife. May the Force be with you dear, and thank you." she spoke her last words, and stood up straight.

The hologram ended there.

Connor rested his head in hands, watching the holo-image of his friend and former Master Sochi Ru play over and over and over. It pained him to see the evident worry in her face and the stress in her voice. It meant so much more now she had left this for him where it would find it after their assignment, and after her death. She knew where it was all going from the start and she couldn’t tell him.

Brushing his hair back gently with his fingers, absently, he watched the recording again in the darkness of his quarters; only the blue image of Sochi illuminated his face, torso and near surroundings of the bunk he was on.

Each time she spoke of her death, it hurt him more than ever.

As the recording ended again, Connor replayed it. Again. The name Tachi had never come to him since knowing Sochi, and why would it? Family was family – a different sort of family from the Jedi you served with. Tachi. It wasn’t much to go on but it was enough to start on finding what he could about her family and her history.

As Connor let it play for the final time, taking in her instructions and her plea, the darkness swallowed him up as the blue light faded and her instructions echoed in his mind.

”Sochi. I could have saved you.”

RAXUS PRIME

She had been running for most of her life, no one cared to chase her so what was her purpose. Maybe she wanted to just escape her previous life, heritage, and destiny. Some time those things can be overwhelming and pose a challenge that forces you to give up. However, she would move and move until she couldn't anymore. Most people didn't know about her Force sensitivity, she rarely displayed anything not that any of it was developed enough. She knew very little, and it sufficed; thats all she cared about.

Her latest interest was scavenging, she had joined up with a band of them who had re-located to Raxus Prime. Amongst the junk she was surely hidden, and she had nothing but time to think about everything. She really had no interest in sorting through junk but being amongst them gave her free travel and everything else she took care of herself. However that all came with consequences, these grimy people were just that grimy. Whoever found something valuable sparked evil in the others and betrayal ran thick amongst the group. She carried her lightsaber, and that always had her watching her back.
