Planet Name: Dohmus PrimeDemonym: Dohmussian
Region: Outer Rim
System Name: Dohmus System
System Features: The Dohmus system is a classic one-sun system hidden with the depths of a reflection nebula. The white star at the centre is orbited by Dohmus Prime square in the habitable zone, and the gas giant Helios Maximus beyond it. Helios has one moon in its orbit, a relatively small rock with no atmosphere. The planet itself contains vast deposits of hypermatter. Dohmus Prime has two moons; Saiah and Daehah, that orbit the planet. Neither are inhabited. Dohmus Prime’s rotational period is 20 hours, and completes one orbit in 250 local days
Coordinates: AK,42
Major Imports: Technology, labour
Major Exports: Hypermatter fuel
Gravity: Standard
Climate: Temperate
Primary Terrain: Oceans, mountains, forests, deep valleys
Atmosphere: Type I
MAJOR LOCATIONS:
THE ORBITAL STATION
However, the station provides for more than just the necessities. Perhaps the most striking location on the station is the casino. Whether waiting for customs clearance, delayed shuttle, or simply for the enjoyment, the casino is very much the life of the station.
THE DIAMOND RANGE/TURQUOISE VALLEY
But in the depths of the range lies another natural wonder. The Turquoise Valley gets its name from the lake of bright turquoise water that lies at its centre. Buried in deep green forest and protected on all sides from the slopes of the mountain range, the Turquoise Valley is every bit the hidden oasis the locals say it is. Although its location means the valley gets little sunlight and often sports record-low temperatures, it seldom stops or even slows down those who long to get in touch with the natural beauties of the planet.
THE AURORA
THE CAPITAL
At the centre of the capital is the fountain, viewed best (naturally) from the main floor of the capital’s casino. Built into an existing lake on the planet’s surface, the fountain serves not only as a scenic place of tranquillity amid the city’s hustle and bustle, but also as a reminder of the balance it maintains with the planet on which it stands.
Surrounding the lake is the market. Considered by many as the unofficial heart of the capital, it encapsulates far more than a few streets and vendors. The market twists and turns, a maze of streets and buildings as it snakes around the city’s centre. Almost anything one might be able imagine is available here… one way or another.
What separates the capital from the other cities that dot the planet’s surface is the laboratory. Being the first one built on Dohmus Prime, it goes by no other name. If the market is the heart of the capital, the laboratory is most certainly the brain. Serving as the government’s R&D centre, it plays a crucial role in developing not only new tech for trade, but also new and efficient solutions for long-term preservation of goods, considering the planet’s remote location.
Immigrated Species: Humans
Population: Sparsely populated
Demographics: The mining company that originally discovered and Helios Maximus and settled Dohmus Prime to mine it was a human one. The family that purchased that company when it went under is also predominantly human. As a result, Dohmus Prime’s population is above 90% human, peppered with minimal alien species. Flora on the planet consists mostly of tall, thick forests and rolling green hills. Varying non-sentient species of birds, wildlife (herbivorous, carnivorous, and omnivorous), fish and reptiles have been documented.
Primary Languages: Galactic Standard Basic, Aurabesh
Culture: Originally settled as a mining colony, Dohmus Prime’s culture is still evolving. Perhaps unusual for a mining colony, the citizens of the planet show a great respect for their land. Although the neighbouring gas giant is mined for its resources, there is a noticeable reverence for the serene landscape of their home. Cities are built to exist in harmony with Dohmus Prime, energy is almost 100% renewable, and any behaviour that’s seen as destructive to the environment is heavily frowned upon and often punishable by law.
Over the years, this reverence for Dohmus Prime’s beautiful environments has developed into a religion of sorts, with many choosing to worship the natural wonders of their home. Often building shrines that resemble the forest trees, they’re known locally as Aurans, and beyond preaching gentleness to one another, mostly keep to themselves and their remote sanctuaries. A visitor is unlikely to be accosted in the street by one of these aurans, however if they were to leave their bag unattended they may well find a naturally produced flyer sitting in it upon their return.
Society is broken mostly into three classes. The upper-class consists predominantly of government officials and high-ranking managers of the refinery that provides the planet with most of its wealth. These super-rich take up perhaps 2-3% of the population as a whole. The vast majority of the population would fall under middle-class, ranging from upper-middle to lower-middle depending on income. Although few on the planet would admit so, Dohmus Prime also has a population of lower-class citizens who live mostly either in slums in the old settlements that existed before the cities were built, or out in camps in the forests. Rather than being the poorest of the citizens, these lower-class outcasts are marginalised mostly because of their political views. Refusing to be part of what they perceive to be a hypocritical society, they openly speak out against Dohmus Prime profiting off the perceived rape of her sister-planet and will not partake of the riches gained therefrom. They are seen by the population at large generally, however, as slackers using the excuse of moral superiority to avoid pulling their weight.
There is a distinct gambling culture amid the upper middle and upper-class citizens of Dohmus Prime. Pod racing and swoop bike racing are the most common sports played on the planet, with extensive, difficult courses that snake through the tall forests. High-stakes gambling appears not only in the casinos, but also track-side with these races.
Due to the relative infancy of the culture, there is little in the way of unique art coming from Dohmus prime. However, the exception to this might be the sculptures built by the aurans. Designed to mimic the enormous trees of the forest, these beautiful statues are often carved from marble or sculpted from clay. They often appear with a distinct fluidity about them, as they are crafted to portray the ebb and flow of life.

Wealth: Dohmus Prime is a planet of medium wealth, mostly due to the infancy of its habitation. The neighbouring Helios Maximus and its vast resources of hypermatter provide incredible wealth for the planet, but the refinery has only recently been put back in operation. In addition to this, any wealth that has been earned from this venture has been sown back into the settlements, growing them into a global sustainable planet.
Stability: Stability on Dohmus Prime is relatively high. While no single planet or population can claim perfect harmony, the Dohmus system comes relatively close. There are, of course, the outlaws and anarchists, however they tend to keep to the wilderness, seldom willing to clash with local loaw enforcement. The majority of the citizens are law-abiding and peaceful. This is not to say there isn’t any dissatisfaction with the way the planet is run, however, no one seems to speak out openly. Or those that do, do not often tend to meet with the most unfortunate luck. However, there is enough wealth being sown into the culture that such coincidences are more often than not simply trumped up as just that. Outsiders visiting the planet would find that there is almost complete freedom of speech, with one noticeable exception. No one speaks out openly against the government. Issues are raised from time to time, but they are done so in council meetings and addressed with no press. Visitors to the planet (and their coin) are welcomed with open arms for as long as they also abide this seemingly unspoken rule.
Freedom & Oppression: The atmosphere of Dohmus Prime is mostly one of general freedom and content. The citizens, for the most part, are happy with how things are run. There is a noticeable sense of wariness for the ruling government, however there is no evidence of overt oppression.
Military: Given its small population, Dohmus Prime has no standing military of which to speak. However, it is far from completely defenceless. The Donna sought to protect her investment in the planet by installing a planetary shield, the only gate being directly below the orbital station. Additionally, while there is no army or navy, small, specialised strike teams operate with impunity and secrecy, using targeted, precise strikes to disable larger incoming threats.Technology: From a technological standpoint, Dohmus Prime keeps up with the technological advances of the rest of the galaxy. Although being on the outer rim makes them the last to hear of new breakthroughs, their own R&D department is well stocked with the greatest minds and materials, which more often than not makes up for this.
The Dohmus System was originally discovered accidentally in 802ABY. Hidden within a reflection nebula, it had gone silent and unnoticed for centuries. A mining company’s ship instruments had malfunctioned, sending the crew directly into the nebula. Upon plunging into the nebula, the crew had discovered Dohmus Prime and Helios Maximus. Being so far out from their course and without enough fuel to return, they ended up landing on the planet and sending out a distress signal. What the much better-equipped rescue team discovered when entering the hidden system was the gas giant they named Helios Maximus, and its vast reserves of hypermatter. Arrangements were quickly made to establish a colony on Dohmus Prime and begin mining the fuel. The settlers on the planet had been immediately taken by its beauty, given that they were especially used to living in mining camps in large, industrial pits. Seeing as the resource they were there for was off-world, the citizens lobbied hard to have laws put in place protecting Dohmus Prime. However, the company had been cutting corners and using cheap, outdated equipment. While not so much of a problem towards the core where they normally operated, out in the outer rim their vessels weren’t sturdy enough to fend off pirates and survive the trip back to the core systems. Even after they constructed their own refinery to save on travel distance, too many shipments were either stolen or lost to the vengeful emptiness of space, and the company went under.
Their assets were liquidated and sold off in 840ABY. The Dohmus system, having technically belonged to them, was among these assets. The Donna and her Consigliere were quick to capitalise on their purchase and began work on re-opening the refinery and resuming trade with other systems. This time, it was done properly, with proper deep-space ships and a well-funded crew. As a result, most of the citizens view the family as their saviours, restoring their lifeline to the rest of the galaxy, and understand why they do not like to have their name besmirched.
