APPEARANCE
Fairly tall for a human, Domeric stands out easily in a crowd. His dark brown hair and strikingly bright blue eyes are features he takes pride in, though his fair skin is often bruised from an impromptu fight, typically his face more than anywhere else. Two fingers on his left hand and one on his right are mechanical replacements after childhood machinery accidents ended in them damaged, though the false skin covering them is high end and difficult to tell from the real thing. Similarly, a large burn scar stretches from just above his left up to the center of his ribs as a result of a reckless speeder crash.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Ylesia to the owner of a major spice refinery along the Gachoogai River, Dom’s earliest memories are of lessons in business from his mother. Supply and demand, keeping certain trade secrets, and most importantly never going *anywhere* without a weapon on your person. It seemed exceedingly fortunate then that at an early age Domeric began to show a connection with the Force. When your person *was* a weapon, after all, you never have to be worried about losing one.
Unfortunately for them, however, Domeric proved a poor student early into his training, with three hired masters finding it nearly impossible to keep him focused on learning either force powers or swordplay. His inability to sit still for long periods of time prevented meditation, and he quickly lost interest in learning the basics. The fourth, however, took a different approach. Rather than try to acclimate a young Domeric to more traditional styles of teaching, he learned about his student first. Weeks were spent watching the child go about his day, learning what he liked doing, and the things that he found interesting. And what Dom found interesting, above all, was machinery.
Having grown up around the refinery he took a quick interest in how every part of the spice refinement process operated, as well as how the ships that brought product in and carried it out worked, even the inner mechanisms of the blasters that their facility guards carried. The hired master took this interest and put it to work in their training, displaying first for him the more esoteric ability of mechu deru, easily gaining Domeric’s focus and attention in the pursuit of mastering the ability to not only feel and see the workings of mechanical objects, but make them work the way he wanted them to. By managing to include technology in their lessons he was able to finally reach Dom, imparting onto the young Ylesian critical knowledge and training.
By the time he was seventeen Dom’s master had declared his training finished, leaving him to further his improvement on his own. While he took it on himself, training in his spare time alongside tinkering with modifications to whatever weapons or starships he could get his hands on, Domeric quickly found himself and his abilities in demand on behalf of the business his mother did. Before long he was accompanying shipments as little more than a glorified mercenary, with strict rules in place that prevented him from doing the things he enjoyed. As a result it wasn’t long before Dom abandoned the business, stealing a significant amount of credits from the treasury as well as a ship and other odds & ends before setting off into the galaxy on his own, earning money via mercenary work for the Hutts and other criminal groups, making custom equipment, or simply transporting people from one system to another. With that money he found himself simply enjoying the pleasures of life in between each job.
