OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION
COMBAT INFORMATION
 • Availability: Uncommon
 • Deployment: Minor
 • Strengths:
 • Commando training: While not as individually skilled as ARC troopers, they can still be challenging for Jedi or Sith to fight
 • Precision strikes: As the Dominion Shock Troopers are trained for performing special operations, the DST are the go-to units when mass deployment are not adviseable
 • Force multiplier: their presence can enhance the morale and effectiveness of other Dominion units in an area provided no Force-users are deployed with them
 • Weaknesses:
 • Superiority complex: Because they perceive themselves as being able to perform highly dangerous missions without any assistance from the Force, it can cause problems when forced to work with Force-users
 • Infantry: For all their elite training, they are still exposed to the same weaknesses as regular infantry
 • Limited supplies: since the Dominion Shock Troopers are often deployed for limited-duration missions (often behind enemy lines): when in prolonged missions behind enemy lines, they are not above looting, theft or pillaging
Description:

In the wake of the defeat of the Dominion in the Chiloon Rift campaign, the Dominion High Command realized that, in addition to the mass-deployed Peacekeepers, which are the standard line infantry, there was a need for other, more specialized units for those missions where mass deployment may not be adviseable and where Jedi or Sith may pose operational risks, and also because the Cerberus Shock Trooper Legion couldn't fulfill all the needs for special operations due to their limited availability. Because the main requirement for volunteering for the Shock Troopers is to have served in multiple combat engagements as a Peacekeeper, and the main criterion for selection being the combat performance of the candidate, it ensures that only battle-hardened soldiers may undertake shock trooper training. As such, they are rarely deployed in larger numbers than a platoon in a given mission and then the onus of their training is on squad and platoon tactics. They are often deployed for surgical strikes on strategic targets, like sabotage missions and low-visibility warfare, and are trained in commando operations as well as unconventional warfare.

However, their training, which allows them to perform dangerous missions without reliance on the Force, also makes them resentful of Force-users, which made their handling by even Jedi Masters or Sith Lords in Dominion service clumsy at best, even leading to clashes with other Jedi or Sith when they accuse each other of stealing their work.

[member="Ashin Karrde"] Now I cleared up the apparent contradiction a little bit: it might be a morale booster for run-of-the-mill, NFU troops but they are disliked by FUs in Dominion service because they accuse each other of stealing their work.
