Dominions: How Do They Work?
Tyrin's comprehensive guide to Sith Imperialism.

The purpose of this guide is twofold. One is to provide a universal methodology for which we undertake dominions. However, I cannot control how your character chooses to go about waging conquest, so ultimately the second purpose of this guide is to simply to help provide you with an outline and inspiration for objectives if you happen to hit a dead end in planning yours, or you just run out of things to do.

After the Gulag Virus and the ensuing darkness, many of the Galaxy’s planets (with a few exceptions) were left depopulated or in a state of total anarchy. Sometimes both. Going off of that, it should stand that the primary objectives of the Empire to assimilate these planets into functioning member-states is as follows.

  • Colonize the planet. The Sith Empire will actively be sending colonists (gathered through incentive programs) to establish new settlements and cities on the planet in question. This is especially crucial in depopulated worlds where the native population is not great enough
  • Restore order. Some pre-existing settlements will be in turmoil. Imperial troops will enter and restore order in these settlements, but ultimately they will be kept separate from the new population centers the Empire establishes.
  • Repair infrastructure. Speaking of restoring order in native settlements, we'll probably need to fix them up a bit as well. Besides, nothing really says "we're here to help you and we actually care" like restoring running water to a city for the first time in a century.
  • Pacify the natives. Native fauna is always going to get in the way of Imperial progress, whether it be in the form of raiding tribes or ferocious wildlife. Imperial soldiers will be needed to keep a secure perimeter around the new settlements after they are established.
  • Spread Imperial culture. Propaganda missions will not only ensure a populace is loyal to the Empire, but remains loyal even if an enemy faction were to take the planet. Losing the planet will be depressing, sure, but at least the population will then be skeptical and disobedient to their new overlords.

So, there you have it. If you have any trouble plotting out a dominion, those points should provide enough backdrop to move forward. I don’t want to see any more dominions die after fifty posts. Now that you’ve read this, there is no excuse. You’re trapped forever in your obligation to finish what you’ve started. Hahahahahahaha.

Well, hope this helped. Post any questions, comments, and critiques you may have here. You can also use this thread to announce and plan your own dominions, if you so desire.
