Don't Forget Your Backpack

Now that his armor was complete they could focus on the second project that [member="Orick T'ane"] and Ana had in mind. She wished to make a little backpack to keep his Anti-Force slug safe. Ana didn't need one for herself but keeping her husband safe from Prime and OS whom were quite literally knocking on their door was a priority. She knew the vicious ways of the practitioners of the darkside quite well and wanted none of that nonsense aimed at him if she could help it.

Instead of having them work on this at her brother's company she had brought enough materials home that she was confident that they could do this in her own little workshop. Ana didn't do much in it but fix up her own armor but she had enough tools for this job.

Sitting on a workbench in the shop she began to do a simple sketch of what she thought could work. Her eyes flickering every once in awhile to the slug sitting in the box. She liked actually having it as a model so she could ensure it would fit comfortably in the pack she had in mind.

The outline Ana had she didn't like too much therefore she began to work with the beskar that she had hoping to come up with something better. She found that sometimes playing around helped get her creative juices flowing more so than sketching. Orick she knew would be here soon and he would have ideas.

Orick wandered into the small workroom and stopped, [member="Anastasia Rade"] was sitting at her desk with a stylus in hand. She was humming something lightly and he knew that she was working on. They had come up with an idea for an armored carrying case for the Ysalamiri that he had acquired. The idea was that if a force user was in the area, they would target the lizard first and then spend their time using their force powers against him. With the small armored backpack they were designing, they could ensure that the ysalamiri would survive long enough for it to be effective. If some Sith had the time to kill the lizard, the most likely he was already going to be dead so it wouldn't matter anymore. He slowly and quietly moved forward until he was right behind her and he glanced over her shoulder at the sketch on the desk.

" I don't know, maybe something a bit slimmer." He said with a slight laugh. He knew that she was concentrating and he had interrupted her, but she never got mad at him for long. He did look at the sketch and nodded, " This looks good, but what about slimming it down a bit, so it doesn't stick out so much on the sides. I don't want to give my secret away until I have to." He smiled at the idea that because it would look like a backpack, there would be more than a few people that were surprised by the fact that he would have a ysalamiri inside.

"I could do that," she smiled turning her head to face. After giving him a quick kiss on the cheek Ana turned back to her sketch. I was only worried about your little friend fitting nicely in there. He's rather big," she stated as she motioned towards the slug sitting in the box. Ana had picked out the bigger one because the area it nullified the force in seemed to be lightly larger than the slimmer one. She felt any little bit helped when fighting the enemy and she felt that he would agree with that sentiment.

Pressing a button with her stylus Ana was able to erase the sides of her drawing to make them leaner. As she pressed the button again she made a few smaller lines. Her drawing was a sketch more than anything else so it may help to grab the slug and get started actually making the backpack. She really just hoped that the slug didn't mind being molded a little into his backpack. "Do you think it would help to grab the metal and just start playing around a little? We are bound to come up with something amazing together."

The armor that she had created for him had turned out wonderfully and Ana had no doubt that this would turn out just a great or even better. She was very excited that they were doing this together. When [member="Orick T'ane"] and her worked together anything was possible. The enemy would never know what hit them.

Orick laughed, she was worried about the force lizard. That was just like [member="Anastasia Rade"], she cared about all of the little things, " He'll be fine. As long as he's getting fed he will be just fine. When he's not in the box we can build him a garden to live in." He smiled and returned her kiss with a quick one on her cheek. He looked down at the sketch and nodded, it was much better that way, the sided wouldn't stick out beyond his own frame and make him, and his little friend less of a target.

" It might be a good idea to play around with the metals, but we may need to do that in another room, this little bugger is going to block your ability to focus with the force." He said as he tapped the sketch a bit, " Unless you think we can do ti the regular way, in that case I'm all for it." He loved the time they got to spend together, even doing simple things like making armor. He hoped that she chose to do it the hard way so that they could spend more time on it together, his retirement from the Republic meant that he needed more time for smuggling and other things to make money, and that meant less time with her.

She knew Orick was right, the little guy would be just fine. Ana had no doubt he would take care of his little Anti-force user friend. She just didn't like the idea of shoving him into a little hole like that for most of the day. He wasn't a prisoner though, more like their little pet. Not like Snow though whom got to roam around as she pleased and sleep on her bed from time to time when Orick wasn't home.

"I don't need the force to make this," she smiled at him with a slight shake of the head. Ana had made her own armor and his without the force. She didn't need it for smithing or for most things really. It was just an extra tool that she had in her arsenal which she used from time to time.

Setting her drawing to the side so they both could view it she bent down to rummage around the second box she had to collect a few tools and some pieces of the metal. Ana set some in front of her and some in front of him as well. "I thought we could work on this together."

They were both very busy with their various duties and time together like this was sparse. Ana loved spending time with [member="Orick T'ane"] and wanted to take full advantage of this time they had. Who knows, perhaps after this they could have more fun together or just curl up on the couch together and talk. "I could work on say the top piece, you the bottom and than put them together?"

He grabbed the tools and one of the sheets of armor and began playing with the edges to get the Orick looked down at the armor that she had placed in front of him and smiled, he loved to work alongside of her and he was happy that they were building his bug box as a team. She had done most of the work on his armor so he was glad that he had gotten the chance to build this armored backpack with her. " I think that's a great idea, I'll set up the foundation and the support struts that will hold the nutrient frame in place, while you build the armored box that will protect our friend here." He said motioning to the Ysalamari‏ that was sitting on the desk.
re.
He grabbed a couple of pieces of the armor and the tools and he grabbed a small grease pen to start marking the little areas on the armor that would need to be cut and shaped so that the bottom of the box would fit snugly with the top of the box. He didn't even have to look at [member="Anastasia Rade"] as she worked, he knew that she was an expert of her craft and that it would be the better part of the armored backpack.

" Do you want to get some lunch when we finish this, maybe head into the city and find a rowdy tavern to drink and sing along in.?" He asked, not stopping his work. He knew that she loved her people and she loved spending time with them, so she souldn't say no to the idea.

They worked well together as a team so she knew they would have no issue getting this bug backpack completed together. It would be the perfect addition to his armor to help keep him safe from harm. She knew he went on dangerous missions without her and knowing he was well protected would help her sleep better at night or at least not toss and turn so much. Ana would always worry about [member="Orick T'ane"] because she loved him.

Smiling as he agreed she grabbed a few tools and began to get to work on the armored box. Ana had gotten better at working with metals over the years but she still was nowhere near the beskarsmith her brother was or others whom chose that as their profession. If she wanted something complex normally she would go to one of them with some pie asking for help. This box though was something Ana knew her and Orick could easily do together.

As she begun her work on getting the corners of the box just right she listened as he proposed they go on a lunch date. "I would love to," she stated looking up from her work for a brief second to smile at him. She could see that thus far he seemed to be doing a fine job. If he needed any help, she was sure he would ask as Ana would happily give him a demonstration. "Oyu'baat always has something going on and the food's not half bad." She nodded as she turned back to her work. Ana would be surprised not to see a brawl going on in there.

It took longer than he thought it would, but he had finally gotten the the bottom section of the armor together. The forge was hot and he was exhausted from dealing with shaping the armored pieced together, but he had finally gotten all of them exactly the way he wanted them to fit. The bottom half of the backpack had special sections that would hold the nutrient frame firmly in the backpack while ensuring that it wouldn't be rattled around once it was fully enclosed. He walked out of the workroom and back into the design area and he set the lower part of the pack on the table, next to [member="Anastasia Rade"]'s upper part of the pack.

He could tell that the two halves would fit perfectly together. there would be a hatch across the back that would open to allow the frame and the ysalamiri to be tucked inside. He nodded as he glanced at the pieces that would be used to secure the two halves together, once they were secured and forget together, it would be almost impossible to hurt the little guy in a fight. "Alright, my part is done, do you want to finish it off now or do you think food first?"

He didn't really care what she wanted to do, they were together and they weren't getting shot at or threatened, which was rare these days.

She made sure to keep an eye on him as he worked with the metal make his half of the project. Ana knew he didn't do this often so she wanted to catch him before he accidentally burned himself or worse. The young woman was speaking from experience as she had burned herself several times while trying to make her set of armor. [member="Orick T'ane"] was doing quite well though and it wasn't long until she stopped checking to make sure he was alright to focus on forging the top portion.

Pulling her blonde hair back in a ponytail she turned from him to focus on the front portion of the backpack. While it wasn't going to have the special section that his would it did need to curve out just enough for the nutrient frame to fit inside. Even with her hair pulled up she was still sweating from the heat. Ana had to give it to those whom did this for a living, it was tough work and not something she would want to do daily. She would stick to little projects like this one. Once she was completed Ana set it down in the other room they had been designing in.

"I could use a break, lets go get something to eat." She smiled glancing over to the two finished pieces. It wouldn't take long to put them both together when they go got back. He had done a great job and it would fit with what she had created perfectly. "I have one more thing for you before we go but first you have to close your eyes." She grinned at him. Ana knew he would love what she had gotten him.

He stood and smiled, she was beautiful even when she was sweaty, he pulled her close and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. " Dinner it is then. we have gotten the main components put together and all we need to do is fit it and we are done. The we just make sure the frame fits and were done." he always liked doing stuff with [member="Anastasia Rade"] and they had been working together to get his armor and weapons up to the standard that was needed to survive in these dangerous times.

" A surprise you say?" He wasn't expecting a gift from her at all, he would never need a gift from her. He had her heart and that was more than he could ever deserve. " What did you get me?" He asked as he closed his eyes. He even put his hands over them to show her that he was unable to see. He wondered what it was, he was trying to remember if he had said anything about wanting anything this last few weeks.

"You'll see," Ana smiled watching as he placed his hands over his eyes. She knew he could easily use the slug in the box but Ana had a different idea to make the backpack special. The fact that they had made this together already made it special but this brought it over the top. She felt that he would really like what she had made gotten for him or at least she hoped that he would. It would never top the necklace that he had made for her.

Reaching under the table she picked up a ysalamir egg to place on the table in front of them. The egg wasn't due to hatch for another couple of day but she wanted [member="Orick T'ane"] to have it now. He would have his own little slug that would keep him safe from any and all Force Users. It would be like their little baby that they would have to take care of together. Ana would of course not leave slug childcare just to him.

"Ok, you can open you eyes." She stated letting go of the egg allowing it to wobble a little before it stood straight up on it's own. Ana had hopes he would really like this little gift of hers and would use it well and often.
