Don't Steal From Hutts

Silver Fall

A quiet evening to enjoy was all Silver hoped for tonight. But it wasn't what she was going to get. A message beeped at her attention. It was unavoidable as she saw who was calling. Silver activated the device to have a Chagrian she was acquainted with appear on the desk. "Hoska, to what do I owe the pleasure of such a late hour call?"

"I have a favor to ask of you. One I won't allow you to refuse since you owe me". He did have quite the position over her. Their last 'job' didn't go so well but Hoska acquired the short supplies for a favor. Saving their bacon, yet Silver only frowned to the coming request. "I will pay you of course, if you are successful."

"Paying us for a favor. Something must have gone wrong in a big way. Tell me what you want us to do then?" Silver hunched closer whilst interlocking fingers. The Chagrian was clearly in trouble to pay.

"Someones stolen something important from Graduxes vault. Snuck into the palace and bypassed all the alarms and traps, got the vault door open. We're not sure how they did it but after I took inventory they only stole one item. A small cube. Blue and silver with a kind of glass that lets you see inside on each side. They call them holocrons, Force users stuff. I need you to track down the thief and get me the holocron back before Gradaxes finds out. Do it, and we're even."

"I'll do everything in my power to get it back Hoska. Don't want to see a friend in harms way if I can help it. What information do you have on the thief, and this holocron?"

"Surveillance cameras picked up a few good images. And I can get you one of the holorcron from our archives. I'll send them to you now. Oh, and on top of it. I'll refer you to someone I know who may also help you, for a fee if you feel you need them. Don't blow this one kid, it's my ass on the line here."

With that, Hoska signed off. Disappearing into thin air before Silver. Something deep in her gut didn't feel right. It was certainly the job, and maybe that chimichanga she had earlier was fighting in there too. This wasn't going to be easy. On Nar Shadda that thief could have already left town, or worse, the moon. Silver swiped the holoprojector from the desk and hid it within a coat pocket. That information would be here in a few minutes she figured. Time enough to prepare a little.

Hoska's info came in to her wrist computer. Silver reviewed it over as she roused the crew to a state of readiness. Jobs were assigned and most set out to scour places like spaceports, popular cantinas, and the high profile auction houses. Others stayed behind to talk to fences and get in contact with Silver's soldiers and to get them on the move too. Silver gave a sigh and relented to the scale she faced. Pulling out that holoprojector she input the contact information for [member="Duncan Pierce"]. May as well hire him if Hoska thinks he's good. And the price is right.

The dial signal rotated around waiting for Duncan to pick up.

Duncan was in his ship wandering the outer rim looking in his holoprojector some contracts, nothing caught his attention, he was giving up when the computer of the ship talked

INCOMING MESSAGE FROM [member="Silver Fall"] DO YOU WANT TO ANSWER?

Duncan think for some minutes and then answer the projector then show an Echani woman as for her clothes Duncan deduce she was a Bounty Hunter as well

"For the way you look i imagine we're going to talk about a job, isn't it?
What can i do for you ma´am?"

Well that had been relatively easy. The Council, hell most Jedi would've been happy to cash in favors or bargain with the Hutts in order to get their hands on what I now had. A holocron, a Jedi holocron to be precise. Though in hindsight maybe I should've traded a case of Arkanian diamonds rather than stealing from the Hutts. Now doubtless bounty-hunters would be contracted to hunt me down and make sure I returned Jedi knowledge to slimy Hutt hands. That wasn't going to happen on my watch, further though the only purpose a Hutt would have for such an item was as a bargaining chip against the Jedi.

I'd made sure to disarm the traps and alarms though it was fairly certain that at least one of the cameras had gotten a partial image of me. Though I doubted they'd want to come after a Mandalorian. If the cameras had gotten anything they'd see my helmet. Black, gold, and the hellish bloody maroon red of the T-visor. If the Hutt I'd stolen from had indeed hired bounty hunters then all they could hope is to find me on Nar Shadaa. It was a big place after all and if they weren't Force-users then my chances of getting away would vastly improve. The game of Dejarik had begun....

Silver was about to give up on this guy ever answering when lo and behold he finally did. "Mr. Pierce. I indeed have a job for you. I'm Silver Fall. Something has been stolen from my employer and it needs to be returned. I have a recommendation from an associate you are good at hunting people down. Now I needed you on Nar Shaddaa 4 hours ago since we're already behind in the chase. We'll pay your normal fee plus an expense bonus for the urgency seems fair. Will you accept the job?" Silver just planned to muscle out the money from Hoska for this hunters contract. He was the one who recommended him after all, he may as well pay for it.

"My normal fee plus a bonus huh?
We have a deal my lady, and it's your lucky day 'cuz i'm already in the outer rim at some minutes from Nar Shaddaa, wait for me in the space port, once we met in person you can give me the details of the job"

Duncan hung up and ask "Hawk" the computer of his HWK-290 to land in Nar Shaddaa, as he prepared his equipment

Silver stashed the holoprojector once more inside her coat pocket. It would be needed latter. Now it was time to meet Duncan at the Spaceport. Grabbing her machine gun and hat, she left the office for the evening to prowl the ecumenopolis for their thief among the masses. Two guards accompanied her out to the speeder. The spaceport where they were headed to was still in Hutta Town. Which meant they were relatively safe from the competing crime families elsewhere on Nar Shaddaa, but it was good to have extra protection anyways.

The group piled into the speeder and took off into the skylanes. It wasn't rush hour, but traffic was still heavy. No time was wasted as they weaved through traffic faster than the speed limit allowed. Not that many followed traffic 'laws' anyways. Silver tapped out a message to Duncan on her wrist computer asking what docking bay he was going to land in. if he'd even gotten clearance yet.

The HWK-290 Landed in the docking bay 27, Duncan pick up his equipment and activated the landing ramp and exit his ship, he walked to the main gate of the space sport and send a message to [member="Silver Fall"]

"I'm in the main gate of the Space port, i bet the thing it was stole has great value, otherwise i don't believe they're going to hire me.

I'd been putting distance between myself and the space-port. As much as I hated Nar-Shadaa if bounty-hunters had been hired to catch me then the space-port wasn't the place to be. I'd jacked into the security network and had seen someone recently arrive just as I'd left in an air-taxi. I'd only caught a bit of audio but I could tell he was there meaning to meet somebody else meaning there were two hunters at least, though at least one of them probably had an escort detail. Meaning two more hands, minimum I was looking at four people coming for me...

I'd need to lay low for awhile before I made my move to escape. At the very least I'd need to use tranquilizer rounds on their hired help and even the odd to two against one. I told the driver to head to a stop that bordered on competing gang turf. If necessary I could use some spare credits I kept in my coat to buy protection and distraction from one of the gangs down here.

Silver and co came in like a bat out of hell. The Echani leaned an arm over the door frame and took a look up and down the Bounty Hunter. No Mandalorian, looked more like a Corellian smuggler to her. Hoska wouldn't lie, not now anyways. "Mr. Pierce, nice to meet you in the flesh. I'd love to have our introduction over a drink but circumstances as you know are time sensitive".

One of her bodyguards turned about with a grin on his face. "We just got a positive ID on the perp from the taxi union. They said she was picked up from here a few minutes ago and dropped her off on 8492 Avenue and Calitaca Street".

Silver nodded to the man and turned back to Duncan. "We have a lead. Would you like a lift Mr. Pierce or can you provide yourself with your own transportation. If I take her down before you do, you won't get paid you know".

Finally [member="Silver Fall"] appeared and behind her two guards, Duncan notice how the echani looked at him before introducing herself

"Please, just Duncan, Mr Pierce is or was my father, i don't really know if he is still living... And i don't care... Anyways the pleasure is mine, you're much beautiful in person my lady"

He then hear one of the guards saying that the thief was spotted and the woman ask him if he wanted a lift or if he prefer go solo

"Well i thought we were on the same team, so i'm going with you, also you can tell me more about this job i only know that someone steal something.
And about not getting paid, i wouldn't mind if we drink something after the job"

Duncan smile and jummped in one of the speeders

"I imagine one of your guards is going to stay here and patrol the space port in case our objective tries to escape, so i'm taking this one, you lead i follow"

I'd noted that the taxi I'd been in had been pinged which meant they were onto me. I'd hoped to avoid attention though I supposed it couldn't be helped I had after all stolen from the Hutts even if it was Jedi property they had. Now I'd need to work harder to stay hidden, which meant no public transport and staying away from security areas. I'd also made some friends my last time here on Nar Shadaa and they'd be able to help me mislead these hunters. I called up two of them and let them know to have replicas of both my helmet and the item I'd stolen made.

I'd meet with them, we'd all have the same helmet and same item. But only I would be the real culprit, It'd require me to make the trade in a public place too that way I'd for sure be pinged. I'd do a quick swap with one and then he'd swap with the other. I'd be left with a fake holocron and then I'd "chase" the thief after I'd cuffed him I'd confiscate any illicit items meaning the true holocron as well. I'd join the hunters while being the hunted. It was a clever ploy as far as things went I'd also hired some muscle to make a mess of the meet and once the hunters I'd pinged arrived they'd open fire with tranquilizer rounds disguised as slugs. The chaos would cause the meet to go south after I'd switched the item for a fake and then tracking my friend I'd "detain" him and take the item back. They were all identical but only one could be opened with The Force.

This had a high likelihood to work I just needed a little bit of luck on my side....
