Don't Turn Your Back on the Guard

Scruffy Lookin’ Nerfherder
The Praetor of the Royal Guard strode to meet the traitorous Shadow Guard. As commander of the Royal Guard, Seth Shorn had no higher ups in the Guard chain of command. He was the higher up.

Wearing his Sovereign Protector armor and wielding his double-ended vibroglavie, Shorn came for one reason alone. Traitors to the Royal Guard had to be dealt with. Swiftly and with force. And @[member="Thraishe Krine"] was most certainly a traitor. He consorted with the heretic Reyven Samoth and neglected his duties as a Royal Guard. Where was Thraishe at the Battle of Junction? Where was Thraishe during the Dominions of Tund or Aarongar? Nowhere. Shorn would not tolerate a Shadow Guard gone rogue.

"@[member="Thraishe Krine"], you have neglected your duties as a Guard. What have you to say for yourself?"

Thraishe drew his Lightsaber Pike and ignited the blade, extending the meter long crimson blade. He was already fully dressed in his Shadow Armor as he never left any where without it. Whoever this was, is accusing me of being treacherous.

"It is treason to accuse someone without further evidence. I served the Sith hierarchy, I don't report to the Royal Guard Praetor." Thraishe said arrogantly, as he paced forward, "I do however admire your bravery for confronting someone of my...power" Lightning crackled off Thraishe's palms.

Shorn fixed the traitor with an adamantine gaze. "The Shadow Guard answer to the Praetor, @[member="Thraishe Krine"]."

Thraishe continued to stride forward. Shorn continued to stare behind his featureless red mask. His glaive came into an on guard position. The lightning Thraishe might wield was dangerous enough, but Seth too had his own abilities. "Do you resort to tricks of the Force? Fight me like a true Guard. Echani duel. Blade to blade."

The Praetor whirled forward in a blur of motion, his glaive twirling as he came down in a diagonal slash for Thraishe's shoulder.

Thraishe turned his pike upside down, blocking the strike.

"Shall we do this like on the Squall?" Thraishe grunted as he ducked and swung his leg toward @[member="Seth Shorn"].

"I answer only to the Emperor himself, I am no Royal Guard." Thraishe said.

What Krine did not know was the reorganization of the Guards, all of them, put Shadow Guards directly under the Praetors control. If he had been present during these happenings he would have understood, but being busy cavorting with heretics seemed to have taken highest priority on his list. In any case, the time for words was at an end. When Guards - capital G - fight, they fight in silence.

The Squall? Yes. This would be like the Squall. But without any of the mercy or quarter granted. Seth did not wish to kill Krine, but he knew it necessary for the integrity of the Empire. A rogue could not be suffered to exist. Yet, the fact that he must kill a fellow Guard saddened him. Killing anyone saddened him. Seth wished he would never have to kill again, but he knew it was a foolish wish. Killing is sometimes a necessity to protect that which we cherish. He had long ago come to terms with that fact. Before his first death.

Sparks flew as the vibroglaive's end bit into the blocking pike, which Thraishe held diagonally above his right shoulder. Seth saw the incoming kick and stepped forward, releasing his left hand from the glaive. The thing about kicks is that they are easy to see coming, but not terribly easy to block. The kick came toward Seth's middle. He let it. The blow struck him full on the ribs. He had armor, but he still grunted at the impact.

Swiftly, his left arm wrapped around the leg, locking it in place next to his side. Then he moved sinuously forward, stepping again in again with his right foot and sweeping back to take the Shadow Guard's remaining foot off the ground, while at the same time the other end of his glaive came toward @[member="Thraishe Krine"]'s exposed right hip. Exposed, because Thraishe had moved his entire pike to block the incoming attack, which was aimed at the shoulder. Perhaps he had forgotten that Seth's glaive was double ended.

Theoretically, the move should sweep the Shadow Guard's foot, sending him to the ground while the opposite end of the Praetor's glaive goes through his hip. But these things are always just that. Theoretical.

The Squall settled all differences. In fact, the Squall was where they were right now.

@[member="Seth Shorn"] (OOC: Sorry bro I had something come up, my grandma had a heart attack and i had to leave my house and drive to Georgia.)

Thraishe braced himself as he fell back against the edge. He jumped up, and swung his pike horizontally, lightning arcing off the end of the lightsaber. He quickly stripped himself of his cloak and circled the man. Two different men: one black, one red, fighting to the death on the place where it all began--The Squall!
