- Well-Armed: The Dorn Danchaf is more heavily armed than the average starfighter, making it an ideal way to move small amounts of passengers and cargoes in a dangerous galaxy.
- Well-Defended: The Dorn Danchaf has a very sturdy hull backed by quickly regenerating shields, which provides it good protection for a ship its size.
- Large Size: The Dorn Danchaf takes up a lot of hangar space due to its large folding stabilizer wings, which also make it a large target in space when viewed from the side.
- Low Maneuverability: Like its predecessor, the Dorn Danchaf is not very maneuverable, typically falling in line with similar performances to other shuttles and many bombers.
The Dorn Danchaf is CorelliSpace's reimagining of the older Delta JV-7 Escort Shuttle and similarly shares the role of a smaller transport that is reasonably capable of handling combat against pirates and small craft on its own. While the airframe and layout remain largely the same as its predecessor, CorelliSpace took their characteristic habit of souping up the basic systems to provide improved performance, largely with an eye towards making it a more capable combatant through improved logistical capabilities - a more advanced and powerful sensor array allows the Dorn to easily spot most prey and predators before itself is spotted, while extended fuel tanks mean that the Dorn can take more circuitious (and therefore safer and unexpected) routes to different locations. Lastly, the addition of a small, turreted tractor beam means that it can often snag quick moving small craft and drag them in front of its heavier guns or warhead launchers for easier destruction. Alternatively, the tractor beam projector might allow for easier deep space rescues or cargo container snatching. While ostensibly marketed towards shipping companies looking to provide a cost-effective means of additional protection to convoys, the Dorn Danchaf also sees use by criminal groups as a raiding vessel - taking advantage of its reasonably good combat effectiveness to move combat troops deep into enemy territory.
