- 'Cutting Edge': The pragmatic Clan Rekali came up with combining fusion cutter technology and their starship building skills. Thus, a massive fusion cutter emitter was invented and slammed on the bow of the Doslanir-class Light Corvette. The fusion cutter is capable of cutting through asteroids, hulls and armor with ease. Shields exposed to the high energy of the plasma of the cutter can suffer high rates of workload and possibly overload.
- Debris cleaner: The Doslanir-class is not armed to the teeth as a standard military-grade light corvette, despite it being of Mandalorian produce. Lower defensive capabilities, despite its size and lower maneuverability have been the cost of retaining higher speeds.
Purpose.
The Doslanir-class Light Corvette was designed with the purpose of clearing asteroid fields by reducing significantly the sizes of the objects and cutting defunct ships into smaller parts for easier scavenging processes. Hence, Clan Rekali came up with the idea of using fusion cutters on ships rather than having fusion cutters only be used personally.
The Doslanir, which means 'cross, intersect' in Mandalorians, is not a random name but a projection of the point of its whole creation. The corvette literally intersects an object into two due to its massive fusion cutter and proceeds on its initial trajectory.
Moreover, the creation of this type of corvette is a result of Clan Rekali's habit of setting up homes in the most dangerous locations for spacers such as the Gordian Reach.
Technicalities.
This section can be divided into two. Primary property and supportive properties.
Let's start with the former: The massive fusion cutter. As explained earlier, the fusion cutter is the soul of this ship. Cutting through all sorts of objects with the intent of easing the difficulty level of whatever operation is being done. Whether, it would be cutting asteroids into smaller bits for larger ships to pass by unobstructed or to 'soften' up defunct ships ready to be scavenged.
Now the latter: What other armaments one sees in the armament section were welded in with the aim of supporting the activities that the Doslanir undergoes. Dual turbolasers, one missiles launching platform, 5 antimissile octets, 2 tractor beams - all being utilized for the purpose of countering any debris that has gone astray from the Doslanir cutting through it or on a collision course with the corvette. Due to its lower defensive capabilities, it needs such combative functions to counter fatal accidents.
History.
During one of his many smuggling runs, Zef was cautiously traversing through a dense asteroid field. He had been smuggling volatile fuel and every small collision or abrupt movements may result in combustion that would tear his whole freighter open.
The Mandalorian would lie if he said he did not brown his pants as two of these corvettes came out of nowhere cutting asteroids into pieces.
The asteroid field had masked their presence from the Corellian Bolt's scanners and when they showed up like a nightmare, it was hard for Zef not to almost have a heart attack at such a fragile age. He thought it would be a good idea to contact them and halt their menacing runs through the field that made it even more hazardous for his life with the type of shipment he was carrying.
The two corvettes had been manned by a minimum crew each of Rekali teens who were competing on who would cut through more asteroids faster. Using his negotiating skills, Zef was able to persuade them to compete on who would clear a better route for him through the asteroid field faster.
Kids being kids immediately changed course and to Halo's luck cleared a safe route for the smuggler to pass through.
The credits were worth the adrenaline.
