Strengths:
- Defenses: A high defense rating from multiple hulls, liners, and shields. The Dowager II is able to withstand a lot of damage. Coupled with an emergency ablative hull enabling escape even in the most hellacious of scenarios. Internal defenses, which, should help against boarding operations. Anti-Stealth/Advanced Sensor Suite keeps the Dowager up to date with other Sith-Imperial ships within the same line.
- Armament: Very high armament rating, the Dowager doesn’t shy away from her primary role as an artillery ship. Armed with a variety of long and standard range weapons. A mixture of kinetic and energy weapons allows the vessel to take advantage of a variety of scenarios.
- Range: Lacking close or short-range weapons, the Dowager relies on her squadrons to help keep smaller opposing ships at bay.
- Blindspot: While the Dowager is able to move at an average speed and maneuverability, she still has trouble keeping her blind spots covered. Once more relying on her squadrons or escorts to ensure that those spots are covered. The biggest blind spot that the Dowager has is toward the rear of the ship where she has minimal gun coverage.
- Kinetic: When kinetic weapons fire, particle shields are lowered to allow firing - this, in turn, gives opposing forces an opportunity to strike with their own kinetic weaponry.
As part of a redesign effort, the Dowager was recalled. The ships were brought in, and stripped down to their keels. Rebuilt from there the ship was built with the same philosophy as the Resurgent. Multiple hulls, hull liners, and shields along with internal defense management systems allow the vessel to withstand a lengthy battle. In addition, the Dowager’s gravitational systems were upgraded to include a reactionary repulsor field and a gravitic amplitude modulator. She was also given a number of anti-stealth or advanced sensors to keep her on par with Sith-Imperial vessels of the same line.
The battlecruiser maintained its primary role as artillery. While supporting an increased amount of guns over its predecessor. The Dowager II’s guns would not have the same extreme rating, rather they would bear a very high rating. Still, she doesn’t shy away from the battle and has been noted as a key asset in the heaviest of fighting.
Going back to older design philosophy, Lord Admiral Raaf incorporated a secondary role for the Dowager. Colonization support, with an ever-expanding empire there, needed to be more support for these efforts. The support would now come from the newly formed Dowager II.
Upgrades aside the ship relied heavily on combat squadrons and escorts to keep opposing vessels at a distance. With little to no short-range weaponry, the Dowager is unable to fight in close quarters. Additionally, in spite of her average speed and maneuverability rating, she still has trouble keeping an eye on her blindspot. The rear of the ship has little to no weapons to keep opposing craft at bay. Once more making the Dowager reliant on escorts or squadrons.
Due to the size and construction of the ship, she remains at a semi-unique production. There will only ever be ten of the Dowager IIs.
