OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a "frontier" and somewhat isolated Rescue Station for the Rimward Rescue Service, akin to some of the more remote rescue posts of the US Life-Saving Service.

- Military Base Name: D'Qar Rescue Station
- Classification: Lifesaving Station
- Location: D'qar
- Affiliation: Rimward Trade League, Rimward Rescue Service
- Population: Moderate
- 3 communications teams of 3 enlisted and 1 officer each
- 3 scanning teams of five enlisted and 1 officer each
- 1 medical team of three doctors and 8 nurses, as well as medical droids
- 3 Styxite-Class System Patrol Craft based at the station
- Demographics: Humans, Sullustans, Sevari, Svivreni
- Accessibility: Very easy to find, but the only major active installation on the planet, has a constant satellite link to the network of pHB-x9 Spacer's Light beacons which can be traced back to the base
- Description: A new forward location for the Rimward Rescue Service to monitor emergency channels and dispatch rescue teams from outside the Five Veils Route. The base is nestled on a natural outcropping protruding from the side of a mountain, relatively high in elevation. The first thing to catch anyone's attention is the massive sensor dish at the center of the complex, which receives signals from all across the surrounding sectors. Close behind that is the distinctive curvature of the power generator and shield generator. Otherwise, the complex is focused around a large landing area, with terraced steps carved from the rock. The main buildings flank the primary landing area, but several of the smaller buildings are built on the terraces. Otherwise, there is lots of greenery at the base, and nothing about it suggests a particularly militant disposition.
- Operations Center: The heart of the Rescue Station, the Ops Center is a combination sensor station, communications relay, and strategic analysis center. There is a round the clock watch always in the center, monitoring communications channels and displaying sensor readouts as the information comes in and relaying it either further in towards the League or to a ship on patrol.
- Hospital Wing: Situated next to the landing area, the hospital wing is a small, but sophisticated hospital with bacta tanks, surgical droids, large caches of medical supplies, pressure chambers, and burn units.
- Residential Wing: Off to one side of the complex is the residential wing, which is biometrically sealed from the rest of the rescue station. This has its own hydroponic garden and courtyard, as well as the educational cubes. The living quarters are arranged as apartments on the first top two floors, smaller apartments below, and then traditional barracks rooms on the second floor.
- Maintenance Hangar: Opposite the hospital, the maintenance hangar is a medium sized hangar that can hold up to a medium freighter, but usually holds the patrol craft and some smaller shuttles. There is a forensic kit here to investigate wreckage and accidents, but that is rarely used.
- Power Generator: Connected to the Operations Center, the power generator uses a combination of wind, solar, and traditional methods to ensure the rescue station functions at all times. It ties directly into the shield generator.
- Shield Generator: Composed of several large structures, the the shield generator has the capacity to project a shield around the rescue station in the case of falling wreckage, attack, or cosmic incident. They enclose the full station, but do not stop walking-speed entry from the ground.
- Landing Area: A large central area, the landing area is a reinforced duracrete pad with quick access to the hospital and from the barracks, to ensure the smoothest transitions in times of emergency. It has a camera system, firefighting equipment, and medical kits stored along the edges should a ship come crashing down onto it.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
From its foundation, the Rimward Trade League saw the Rimward Rescue Service as its most visible and most vital arm in pursuit of its strategic goals and charter-based mandate. At the most fundamental level was fostering a thriving, safe, and reliable interstellar economy. The Rescue Service does the bulk of the work to achieve that goal.
Part of their role is purely mental, as even as a burgeoning galactic power, there are simply not enough ships in even their nearest regions of the Outer Rim to guarantee safety and rescues across the whole breadth of their operating area, especially with regions in space that have hyperspace travel times measured in weeks between systems.
However, a significant part of their mission is very practical. They chart hyperlanes, maintain emergency beacons, and respond to distress calls, both through long-term cruising patrols and through the establishment of rescue stations.
The first of these major stations to be established was on the planet of D'qar shortly after Praesitlyn joined the League. It was a new design, designed to be established as a baseline template for further lifesaving posts to be replicated across League space.
It has its own power generator, much of which is dedicated to maintaining a constant full-spectrum frequency scan tied to the pHB-x9 Spacer's Light beacons in the surrounding sectors. This is accomplished through a sizable satellite dish, but there is also a small barracks for the crew and staff, a hospital, repair kits, and fuel storage containers.
Overall, the life-saving station is comfortable and has room for families to join their service members on the longer postings. There is a central cafeteria with a wide variety of culinary options, a large recreational and exercise wing, and educational holocubes both for family members and for service members to continue their education, as well as maintain their training regimens. There are three of the Styxite-class patrol craft stationed at the life-saving station to respond to distress signals and emergencies. There is always at least one with its engines running and crew on standby in low orbit. The others have a skeleton crew and are held ready for take-off, but will take a bit longer to deploy.
