STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Strengths
Dexterous: Due to his training and profession as a Ranger, and augmentation from the Force, although unknown to him, Yan has developed quite the acrobatic skills, able to maintain stealth in snow and forests, skilled in quicker styles of fighting and guerrilla combat, hit and run tactics, as well as climbing trees to set up ambushes.
Tracker: Often hunting to survive in Midvinter wilderness Yan has developed knowledge of tracking animals and bandit movements, his sight, hearing, and smell became acute over the years, augmented, unknowingly to him by his Force Sensitivity.
Force Sensitive: Yan is able to sense, use, as well as be sensed through the Force, although proper training would be necessary to fulfill his potential in that regard.
Medical Training: Although not an official Doctor, Yan does have training from experience, as well as the extend of knowledge Vylkiri medics were able to gather with their limited technology, he does have knowledge of field surgery and internal medicine, taught by few physicians and surgeons of the Vylkiri tribes. His healing skills are somewhat augmented by his Force Sensitivity, although that is unknown to him.
Nature Bound: Yan's close tie with nature allows him degree of communication with animals of Midvinter, this bond is weaker off the planet's surface, and some control of the plants, like causing roots to entangle his prey or ability to charm animal and calm them. While he believes it to be a magic gifts from Runa and Éar, goddesses of the Earth and Hunt, it is in fact a Force Ability. Through his proximity with nature Yan has also developed survival skills.
Marksman: Skilled in arts of Marksmanship with Bows and Arrows this knowledge somewhat translates into use of firearms like slugthrowers or blasters, however Yan will always be more comfortable with bows or crossbows.
Knife Fighter: Knife is a useful tool in the Wilderness, it can skin, it can filet, it can be used to set up traps or cut down branches, and it can kill. Yan usually carries multiple knives on him, ranging in sizes based on utility, he is comfortable with using them for melee combat as well as throwing them.
Hardened: As most Valkyri, Yan became resistant to frost and cold due to planet's climate, therefore it is easier for him to resist harsh conditions of cold planets as well as frost damage.
Logical and Scheming: As man of science (Somewhat, not really) and a medic, Yan relies mostly on logic rather than blind faith, and due to often relying on ambushes in his combat, he became somewhat scheming, feeling safer when he always has plan B or something up his sleeve.
Peppers and Cucumbers: His love of Peppers and Cucumbers has made his hair rather luscious.
Weaknesses
Skinny: Although tall, Yan is rather slender and more frail than other Valkryi, while he does carry a claymore with him for pure combat purposes, he does not have enough strength to wield it properly, swinging it around as one would with a hammer. To be fair, the weapon is not used that frequently by him.
Antisocial: Life in forests with little human contact outside of sick and wounded has made Yan a rather shy and antisocial person, in taverns and inns he prefers to sit alone, he has little knowledge of upholding conversation, and when he speaks, it's often in shorter sentences and straight to the point.
The Ladies, Man, The Ladies: While he is shy and socially awkward, it does not mean he doesn't want some romance. As an eligible bachelor he is looking for someone to warm his cold nights, but that often leads to failure as due to his antisocial nature he does not know where to take it further outside of just approaching women. In that regard he also fails to learn from mistakes.
Technological Inferior: As most Valkyri, Yan is unfamiliar with more advanced technology such as ships, droids, and blasters. It often scares him, at least until he'll get used to it, and he would require more training than usual recruit to learn how to handle new weapons.
Force Unaware: As most Valkyri, Yan is unaware of the Force, or what he believes to be magic granted to him by gods of Midvinter. Due to that and his age, it may be impossible for him to fully realize his potential in the Force and become a full-fledged Force User.
Boastful: As other Valkyri, Yan enjoys boasting of his past deeds, although a bit arrogantly, much to the annoyance of others.
Stubborn: Stubborn as an old ram, it is difficult for him to accept new ideas, ways, or when he's wrong, it seems to run in the species.
Germophobic: Due to his nature as Doctor, Yan has seen sickness ravage people out of nowhere, now he has tendency to wear his medic's garb, especially the mask, wherever he goes, especially when he has company, he believes it helps him from becoming sick.

Spell of Alarm (Basic Force Sense)- When praying, meditating, or playing a sentry, Yan is able to extend his senses with this spell and ward an area around him, as such he becomes aware of any movements or threats around him. In reality it's just broad use of Force Sense to sense beings through smaller distance but in all directions. First utilized in Born To The Cold.
Spell of Read Magic (Elementary Education)- He can read. It's not even a Force power, he's just literate.
Spell of Ultravision (Basic Force Sense)- Using powers of Nature, Yan can cast a spell to "see" his enemies through cover like shadows, darkness, or clouds. He does so by tuning into their life and Force signatures, ineffective against synthetic beings like vehicles or constructs. First utilized in Winter of One's Heart.
