STRENGTHS
Space supremacy: The Dragoon is capable of deploying and supporting hundreds of fighters and support craft, allowing the associates fleet to achieve local space superiority
Very tough ship: The fighters would be lost without their carrier to return to, for that reason, along with standard Grand Fleet doctrine, significant investment is made in defensive technology making it a very difficult ship to significantly damage or destroy.
WEAKNESSES
Sluggish handling: The Dragoon is underpowered for a ship of its mass and this makes it very slow and it turns very slowly.
Poor Hangar positioning: in order to maximise the survivability of the ship the potentially vulnerable Hangar bay shields are positioned between the two forward sections of the ship. This can cause some congestion when rapidly launching or recovering craft, slowing the process compared to some equivalent ships.
Complex package: The ship has numerous complex systems making up its whole, this requires experience technicians and only temporary repairs can be made anywhere other than at either Kuat or Archangel ship yards
DESCRIPTION
Wanting a heavy carrier vessel, Isla Draellix approached Archangel Manufactorum. Archangel took the challenge and again utilising Kuat's large scale drive yards, built a fleet of new battlecruisers to join the already built Noble Crusaders.
These ships sacrificed significant firepower and some speed, but none of the formidable defensive tech of the previous battlecruiser. Initially intended to be classed as a fleet carrier, the impressive survivability of the ship made the manufacturer reclassify the ships as battle carriers.
The ships are typically used paired up with a firepower centric battlecruiser such as the Noble Crusader but are perfectly capable of acting as a command ship and anchoring a fleet.
