- [+] Jack of All Trades: The Drake War Droid is a versatile weapon in the Sith-Imperial arsenal. Capable of performing a variety of roles from gunship to bomber, bearing respectable armament and defensive components, and much utility to its frame. It excels in a number of aspects and can adapt to a multitude of situations - however it is a master of none. Overwhelming firepower will destroy them, outsmarting and maneuvering will see them dumbfounded, and even its rider's skill is a variable as well. They are solid and reliable weapons of war, yet they are far from invincible.
- [+] Mind of Its Own: Their top-notch droid brain provides the Drakes with an unparalleled amount of independence. While often serving as mounts for their pair of riders, they are more than capable of operating without them should their riders choose to dismount. Furthermore, they are capable of receiving complicated and specific orders from their riders remotely through an encrypted channel. Whereas the age-old Basilisk war droid required short and simple commands, the Drake can understand and do exactly what its rider desires.
- [+] Up Close and Personal: The Drakes are akin to flying tanks. They can withstand a large amount of damage before falling in battle. With their shielding and Mandalorian iron armor in mind, they are accustomed to closing the gap between themselves and the enemy and laying waste to them. A heavy flamethrower, claws and teeth, and a variety of cannons and missiles allows them to lay siege to defenses and cleave through their occupants with ease.
- [-] Dogfighting: The Drakes are not meant for aerial combat. They primarily serve the role of gunships, providing close air support to ground troops and laying siege to fortified areas. While they boast respectable weaponry and defensive modules, enemy atmospheric craft will no doubt be able to outmaneuver and out-dogfight these war droids.
- [-] Atmospheric: The Drake War Droid is not capable of doing much in the vacuum of space. In a planet's atmosphere and lower, it excels at the role it plays in the Sith-Imperial Legion. Otherwise, they are fairly close to being useless when facing an enemy without an atmosphere to operate in. Some of the Drake can be modified to use starship engines, though this comes with a great risk considering the exposed position of its pair of riders.
The Drake War Droid is the brainchild of Sith Lord Mordecai Zambrano. In the midst of growing tensions between various internal Sith factions, Mordecai contacted the Sith-Imperial Corps of Engineers to make a special request. He desired to recreate the famous Basilisk war droid of the Mandalorian Clans in the image of his own mount and companion: Rhaegos. They heeded the request of the Emperor's younger brother and produced a spectacular creation utilized the resources of Sith-owned Mandalore to fabricate such a beauty.
Enter the Drake War Droid: a heavily armored, heavily armed, and superbly smart war droid. It's appearance resembles that of Mordecai's own Arkanian Dragon. Boasting powerful repulsor engines, heavy laser cannons, mountings for missile launcher and bomb bays, the Drake is a versatile and powerful weapon in the Empire's arsenal. It can be crewed by a sole rider at the helm of this mechanical beast, though it has room for another to man the aft turret in the back - in case of extended operations or a possibility of enemy aircraft engaging the Drake.
They are powerful yet subservient to their riders at all times. Primarily performing the role of a gunship, a Drake often forms an unbreakable bond with its pair of riders. The pilot and gunner may issue complicated commands to the Drake at any time, serving as a force multiplier in battle and bringing the skills of the rider into the overall equation. Together they form a superb weapon to lay waste to the enemies of the great Sith Empire.
The Drakes are not without cons, however. While they excel in a number of areas and roles, they are definitely not invincible or unbeatable. They suffer in air-to-air combat, are utterly useless in open space combat, and can be destroyed or beaten in a variety of conventional ways. They are reliable, they are powerful, they are versatile.
They are the Drake War Droid.
