STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Like all Quarren, Drusk is amphibious, and so can breathe both above and below water, boasting gills and exceptional swimming ability. Nonetheless, he is physically unexceptional, and incapable of great feats of strength or endurance, relying instead on the Force. Indeed it his most powerful ally- Drusk exhibits above all else a deep affinity for the Force, serving its will as it serves his. While short of training, he exhibits strong potential.
Drusk favours a peaceful approach at all costs. even to his own detriment. He prefers to use words before weapons, and is deeply unwilling to kill. As such, his skill with a lightsaber is lacking, and he typically favours defensive styles. Despite this, his hold upon the light side of the Force is by no means unshakable; Drusk harbours a powerful anger, and must use the fallible strength of his will to suppress it, and hold the darkness at bay.
APPEARANCE:
Drusk shares the appearance of most Quarren; whilst generally humanoid, he has a squid-like head, with four tentacles surrounding his mouth, pointed teeth, a pair of wide gills stretching from either side of his face, and three webbed, suction-tipped digits on each hand. Like many others of his species, he typically chooses to wear robes, though he favours a style far simpler than the rest of the proud nobility. In this modest garb, and with his unimposing build, he strikes an unassuming figure.
BIOGRAPHY:
It is a tenuous peace that reigns upon the ocean world of Mon Cala. Where the wise Mon Calamari reside upon the surface, and the proud Quarren rule from its watery depths, for countless millennia the two species have known only the rising tides of war and peace.
Drusk's father was an ambassador for the Quarren, tirelessly brokering treaties to preserve a truce for his people and family. Where other servants of the crown strived for order and isolationism, he held a vision of harmony for his world, and for his subversion earned many enemies. Mired in rumour and scandal, the devious plots of his opponents rendered him an outcast not only among his people, but to his family. He could only watch in despair as the same fear and xenophobia he fought so zealously to destroy infected his wife and son.
Barely a youth, Drusk and his mother soon ranked among the fiercest adherents of the isolationist cause. His hate quickly consumed him, and the nobility encircled him in their pride. Violence came to him naturally- he lashed out in bouts of fear and jealousy, taken by an apathetic cruelty until in time all that remained of him, and of his father's dream, was a fading shadow.
The news of his father's assassination came suddenly. Drusk watched his world collapse in an instant. All that he had once known was lost. Anguish, rage, regret- he felt the primal scream of a vast, indomitable darkness deep within call out for him, closed his eyes, listened for his name, and let go. The void took him gladly, and there in its depths, he found it. The truth. The answer. The Force.
Drusk opened his eyes to a room of broken glass, and knew that nothing could ever be the same. In distant dreams he saw what was left of his life; of his father, and his hopeless dream; of his mother, transformed through hate; of his home-world, suffocated by prejudice; yet most all, he thought of himself, of the boy who had been so very lost, and of the future, whose path was now so clear, of the man, the Jedi, he might one day become. In rising above all he had been, he would reclaim all he had lost and forsaken.
As distant Mon Cala shrank away to a blue dot, and he was shot forth into the rushing lights of hyperspace, Drusk closed his eyes again, and thought of the galaxy in its vastness. The way forward was clear now. The way of the Force.
