STRENGTHS
- Recoil Cancellation: The DS-01 Blaster Pistol features a Twin Gyro-Gimbal stabilization package. This hand-crafted system not only allows for horizontal stabilization, but works in union to provide vertical stabilization with each shot, giving the user unprecedented stability when in a firefight.
- Packs a Punch!: Utilizing a custom-fashioned Dedlanite actuating module, the DS-01 has enough power behind each shot to be on par with high-end blaster rifles and some sniper rifles. This, of course, does not come without drawbacks.
- Trigger Happy: Due to the use of myoflex and dallorian alloy, the DS-01 boasts a respectable rate of fire in line with most commonly manufactured blasters, despite it's massive damage output.
WEAKNESSES
- Hot Tamale: Even though the DS-01 utilizes special plating and custom cooling coils, it's damage output makes it heat up faster than your average blaster pistol. If too many shots are squeezed off too quickly, the pistol will end up overheating and cease to function until completely cooled down.
- Danger, Low Ammo: The DS-01's damage output also lends itself to using up power cells faster than most blasters of it's size, typically only getting about 35 shots out of a single power cell. The stun setting also tends to use the same amount of power due to it's other features.
- High Maintenance: Considering the DS-01 is a completely customized blaster from stem to stern, it requires a lot more maintenance that a normal blaster pistol, and without regular cleanings as well, can tend to misfire and malfunction more often than other weapons of it's class.
DESCRIPTION
The DS-01 'Lotus Blossom' Blaster Pistol is a completely customized and modified weapon made by Saraiya because, quite frankly, she just didn't like any blaster she ever came across in her travels across the galaxy. Some had features she liked, others had drawbacks she just couldn't deal with. So, taking a DL-44 as a base from which to fashion her new blaster pistol, not much remained untouched, if anything at all.
Saraiya was raised in the Coruscanti Underworld, and as a result, knows how to make due with what's available, and how to jury-rig things so they simply work. Her Aunty Esty is the Owner & Proprietor of Darkstar Repairs & Garage, and Saraiya was raised to know how to use everything from welders, soldering irons, fusion-cutters, spanners, and everything in-between to fix anything and everything that might come through the shop's door. Droid, Blasters, Slugthrowers, Airspeeders, and Swoopbikes, Sara has tinkered with and repaired a lot more than the average 24 year old Coruscanti youth. Having access to all sorts of materials, discarded parts, and technology that simply ceased to function in it's intended way, it was only natural that she would end up building a lot of her own custom tech. While her great love and biggest passion are Swoopbikes, it's not all that different to wire up and fabricate custom parts for a blaster just as much as a swoop for her.
Knowing that she needed something small, she set out to create something as powerful as a blaster rifle that could easily fit under a jacket, yet not be as weak as a common holdout pistol. Having a couple of old, parted out husks of DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistols laying around, she began to fabricate the pistol she now calls the 'Lotus Blossom'. After a fair few months of tinkering, testing, and fine-tuning, she ended up with an Incredibly beautiful, highly deadly blaster pistol you did not want to be caught on the wrong end of.
