APPEARANCE:
Dzehyms is a tall, broad-shouldered human, his skin is slightly tan and his hair is blonde, he has blue eyes. He has a light scar on the side of his face, and has a hard, almost weathered look to his face. One of his ears is pierced, and he has a tattoo of a geometric star on his back.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Onderon to a refugee mother and Republic Soldier father, Dzehyms grew up without much in the means of money, and spent much of his youth around Iziz spaceport, listening to pilots and ship captains tell stories of their travels. Dzehyms quickly became fascinated with star ships and navigation, and begged his parents to allow him to buy a ship (on his father's wages, the idea was ludicrous), but he dedicated the remainder of his youth to raising enough credits to purchase even a small shuttle.
He took on many part time jobs to raise the credits needed to purchase a ship; and as such learned many different skills, repairing ship components, droid maintenance, salvaging. These skills were the basis of his education, and as he grew older members of his community called upon him to fix their broken datapads, assisted living droids, and the occasional prosthetic limbs. Dzehyms enjoyed helping those around him, but still felt a growing wanderlust.
When he was 14, his parents announced that their family was not only growing, but moving. His father had received a promotion to a Captain in the Republic, and it granted them the opportunity to move to a better home. It was also announced that Dzehyms would soon be an older brother, and soon after they left Onderon his sister Moira was born.
Over the next six years of his life, Dzehyms moved around the Galaxy with his family, his love of space travel ever expanding as he saw new planets and systems. While having few friends, Dzehyms became friendly with the crew of countless transport ships that he was on, trying to pick up as much he could in terms of starship knowledge and systems. But as always, the transport ships would deliver his family to their new home, and move on, never to return. Dzehyms envied the crews of freighters and smuggler ships, wishing to travel among them and forging his own path through the galaxy. He loved his family, but he simply couldn't sit still forever.
When he turned 20, Dzehyms family moved together for the last time. During their transport, a slaver ship pulled their Corvette into its clutches. The slavers weren't after anything, they'd filled their Boss's quota for the month, and this transport ship was just a bit of sport for them. Dzehmys and his mother and sister spent a month and a half as prisoners, slaves to the crew and at one point the captain even attempted to recruit Dzehyms into his crew. When he was refused, the captain cut Dzehyms' face, scarring it permanently, and promised that there would be more to come.
Six weeks after capture, the slaver ship was hailed by a Republic Cruiser, Dzehyms father had tracked them across the galaxy after his family hadn't arrived at their new home. The Slave Captain, ruthless and cruel, revealed that the woman and girl brought on board would be killed if the cruiser didn't immediately return to republic space. Dzehyms watched as his father fired upon the slave ship, claiming to "not be intimidated by empty threats." But the Slaver kept his word, and Dzheyms watched as his family fell apart.
While his mother and sister died, Dzheyms father managed to rescue him, His mind tortured by the events of the weeks imprisoned. Dzehyms started to resent his father for being so stubborn and letting their family die, but after a period of time, his rage cooled and he slumped into a state of sadness. He stayed aboard his fahter's ship for several months, pondering on how to move forward with his life.
Dzehyms father, seeing the pain his son was in, attempted to bridge the growing gap between them. He put Dzehyms through Trauma Recuperation Therapy, where Dzehyms learned how to cope with his feelings of anger and guilt. On his 21st birthday, Dzehyms father sold the empty home that neither of them could stand to be in, and bought his son the starship that he had worked for since childhood.
For the past 3 years, Dzehyms has traveled primarily alone throughout the galaxy, looking to the future for comfort.
