- Hardcore: This atmospheric fighter is heavily armed and armored, making it a tough defender specifically designed for atmospheric combat with invading forces. It's also well suited for strafing the ground and hitting ground targets.

With the establishment of the Echani Air Defense Force, the need for atmospheric fighters was realized. Eshan Drive Yars, a subsidiary of Eshan Industrial Corporation, quickly set about designing a fighter that could dominate the atmosphere of Echani Compact planets. They might not be able to fly into space, but they make up for it with firepower and an ability to quickly neutralize enemy space fighters that choose to venture into the atmosphere. Additionally, because these are atmospheric fighters, the available corp of pilots is much higher as those who would otherwise balk at flying in space now have a way to fly about and fight against enemy invading forces. In addition, these fighters are better able to handle in atmosphere as they're designed with greater rigidity than some of the more frail space fighters. The end result of research was the Flashwing, which was outfitted with multiple weapons systems and shielding to allow it to tangle with any fighter it could come up against, destroy shuttles and landing craft, and provide aerial support to ground troops.
